Insomnia Caused By Viibryd? (Top voted first)

Updated

The psychiatrist put me on Viibryd a couple weeks ago to treat my depression/anxiety. I have always struggled with suicidal thoughts that often lead to attempts, so I have been institutionalized many times. I also sometimes get hallucinations and psychosis. I have been on several different medications in the past, my original diagnosis was Bipolar. Now they think it may be Schizophrenia. The doctors aren't exactly sure.
Anyway, since I had been on so many different medications before with no success, he put me on Viibryd claiming it was very good for "treatment-resistant" patients.
So far it seems to be working alright, except I haven't had a good night sleep in a while. I struggle to fall asleep every night, and when I finally do I end up waking up at 3am. Other nights I get no sleep at all. I always feel exhausted throughout the day, and whenever I try to get rest the sleep is never deep enough.
Is this a common side effect with people? And if so, will it eventually go away? Because I can't keep up like this. I constantly feel drained and lethargic.

Is this the only medication you're taking?

Have you ever tried Trazodone?

Many people that suffer from depression and other mental health issues take it at night, in addition to their other daily medication, to help them sleep when they have these types of issues, because it's very common for it to cause severe drowsiness as a side effect.

Learn more Trazodone details here.

You'd have to discuss it with your doctor, to see if it is appropriate for you to try, so it's just an idea I am passing along.

I suffered from insomnia for many years and I know how miserable it can be.

I still struggle with insomnia with viibryd . My best results have been with ambien ranging from 5mg to 20 mg to sleep; by prescription over 8 years. Dr recently gave clonazepam to replace ambien, ranging 1-4mg with zero help sleeping. I want my ambien back
