Vicodin doesn't contain any Ibuprofen, so you honestly can't really compare it with this medication. Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, whilst Hydrocodone is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from codeine. Since neither of these are in the same drug class, it would be like comparing apples to bananas.

From my own personal experience, it shouldn't be hard to get a prescription for Vicodin/Norco if your doctor can see that you really need it for pain management.

I certainly didn't think that combining ibuprofen and acetaminophen would magically give me the drug Vicodin, but I understand that a combination of the two drugs (ibuprofen and acetaminophen) gives the equivalent of pain relief as one Vicodin ... Without the same side effects!!! I seem to remember 600 mg Ibuprofen and one Tylenol (any strength) equaling the pain relief from one Vicodin??? ALWAYS taken with food!!! (I weigh under 100 pounds and have a high threshold for pain, so I did not need much.)
