Hello,

Unfortunately, no one can really know ahead of time what a doctor is or is not willing to prescribe, as that is based on the doctor's discretion and not just on someone else's previous appointment (especially since many doctor's are now worried about losing their licensing for prescribing too many narcotics).

Some advice I can give you is to not specifically ask for any 'specific medication' when you see a new doctor. Just make sure to transfer or take a copy of all your medical records with you. Then, the best approach in my opinion, is to discuss up front and honestly what has or hasn't worked for you in the past. Most doctors will take it under consideration and hear you out if you approach them in this manner. I believe a lot of patients don't get the medication they need because they are approaching the doctor in such a needy way that they are being viewed as addicts or junkies with "drug seeking behavior" and not regular patients. So as awkward as that may seem, it is something to consider and be made aware of, because sadly enough, that is how many close-minded doctors tend to think.

Yep IN FL they are long gone!! there are pain mgmt that actually take your insurance but you get drug panels a lot. My PM doesn't play around, he will give you what you have medical records of being prescribed but it will be 2 ER meds and only 4 breakthrough. He will not prescribe soma nor xanax

I know I have some type of anxiety disorder and unfourtunatly have very limited financial resources. I have been taking buspar 3 X daily and it does nothing. I cant express strongly enough how debilitating this anxiety is. I have a constant tremor and sometimes feel like I may have a heart attack. I live in Ft. Pierce, FL. which is Indian River County, but could obtain a ride as far away as St. Lucie County. I have previously taken Xanax & it works wonderfully. I can't afford to go to a Dr. and strike out. Does anyone have the name of a local Dr.who is liberal in writing benzo's? Please help! If anyone knows of a way to obtain financial assistance for the Dr. I would also really appreciate that. I sincerely appreciate any response.

I'm looking for a pain management doctor who prescribes methadone in Boynton Beach area. I was taking methadone for pain in NY for 15 years. When I moved to Fla, my new PM doc would not prescribe methadone. I was taking Opana until it was withdrawn from the market. I'm taking 90 mg MS Contin with 3 10mg Percocet a day(previously took 60 mg Opana per day) I'm unhappy with the MS Contin. I'm not sure if its side effects or a too low dose of MS Contin(conversion charts say 180mg of MS Contin = 60 mg Opana) that's making me feel uncomfortable- irritability, sleeplessness, anxiousness. Any comments on these issues would be appreciated.
