Hydrochlorothiazide Severe Side Effect

I have antiphospolipid syndrome (APS) I was given HCTZ for blood pressure and after two weeks my body went haywire. This resulted in severe respiratory distress, intubated for 3 days had heart attack was kept alive w/ machinery & drugs. Later realized this triggered catastrophic antiphospolipid syndrome. After researching found that this is a known trigger- too late for me. Two years later I still don't have all the feeling back in my legs and have lung and kidney damage.

People react to drugs in different ways, so it is possible to have such a reaction to a known trigger substance.

Side effects also vary from person to person, so just because one person experiences very few from taking this, that doesn't mean the next person will have the same experience. It depends on many factors, including your heatlh conditions, other medications you are taking and genetics.

Known, common side effects for this drug include nausea, vomiting, low blood potassium, low blood magnesium, gout, high blood sugar and headache. This, of course, does not include the rare side effects that a low percentage of users experience.
