Hydrochlorothiazide 37 5 25 Increase

I have been told by my doctor to increase my dosage of Hydrochlorothiazide 37.5 25 capsule to twice a day. I am reluctant to do this since I have recently been diagnosed with Glaucoma.

Are you taking it for high blood pressure or a cardiac condition?

Short of suffering congestive heart failure or edema, where you need a diuretic of some type, there are other options available to treat both hypertension and other cardiac conditions.

The Hydrochlorothiazide is often the first choice that doctors will use to try to lower high blood pressure, but it isn't absolutely essential.

I tend to dehydrate very easily, so we ran into serious problems when they tried to leave me on diuretics once my blood pressure was down and stable, so now I don't take any regularly. I just have a standing prescription, so I have a bottle around in case I need them.
