How To Get Off Suboxone (Page 9)

Im Marina Im 24 years old and a mother of 2 beautiul little boys. From the years 2006-2007 i was heavily addicted to Oxy 80 and eventually started doing herion. I got help in sep.2007 at a methadone clinic, it worked for as long as i was on the methadone i had NO relapse's. In June 2009 i was completly off of the methadone that first day that i was on 0Mgs I went through extreme withdrawls i went through things that i would never wish upon my worst enemy! i stayed that way for a day and a half and decided to go to a suboxone doctor. He put me on 32 mgs a day which i thought was pretty high of a dose but he explained to me that methadone withdrawls was worst then any other withdrawls. so i trusted him. Now when i go to see him every month i pretty much beg for him to start the weining process and start lowering me and he pretty much refuses. After months of being on 32mgs a day he finally started tapering me down slowly, i never really thought any thing of it till now but i realized he's keeping me on the suboxne for as long as posible so that he can get my $200.00 a month. all he is, is a legal drug dealer bc now im highly addicted to the suboxone. I recently had to go a few days with out my suboxone bc i didnt have the money to see him and i went through hell. i thought methadone withdrawl was bad OMG there is no comparison. i wanted to either use which i havent done in years or rip my face off lol its funny now but it definatley wasnt funny a few days ago while i was feeling that way! So i spoke to a good friend whos going through the same thing and he told me that they just came out with a new pill to get you off suboxone. I just want to know if that's true. I tryed googleing it but i cant find any thing. If you have heard of this new pill please respond or if you even have a good way to get off soboxone as painless and posible... thanx

Ok My doctor refuses to give me my suboxan because i keep failing for marijuana.. I Know its my fault N Im actually Soooo sick of being on Suboxan. Im Sick of having to depend on a pill to get me threw the day & its so hard because im a single mom of two Beautiful little girls and i really want off of it. But my question is I Have 6 suboxan left and i was wondering if neone knows of a schedue i can Rapidly tapper off of the suboxan. Like i said I Have 5 subs. Left. Pleeaase Help.. and my subs are the 8mg strips

You don't know what your talking about. Sure it takes alot of personal willpower to quit and you do have to want to quit,but the detox last over two weeks . I've tried twice, the first time I gave up after 14 days of the worst sickness I've ever felt. The second time I gave up on the 10 th day because I would have lost my job if my performance had not improved. Personally I don't see the problem just staying on them if you can afford it . In Europe the use them for pain management. The only reason I have for wanting to quit is the fact that society looks down at me. I've had two back surgeries and every time I tell a doctor about my day to day pain they just tell me to deal with it . The pill seekers have made life very hard for me ,but in their eyes I'm a seeker myself. By refusing me the low mill pain pills they pushed me to more powerful street drugs in the first place.

You know that is a shame. I've been reading up on all the poor people with legitimate pain issues who can't get prescribed Narcotics! That was sort of what led me to get off them. I am happy to say that I am down to less than 1/2 to 1/4 of a 2mg Subutex daily. It took several weeks to get there but I still am hopeful to get off. If only people really knew how hard it is to get off this stuff!! I can't fault anyone for continuing to use Suboxone as it does help with pain etc. Good luck and as my Doctor says, he doesn't use it for that because trying to get off of it is too hard. Also, he along with any other Suboxone doctors are limited to only 100 patients at a time, federal statute for now...For the one with only a few strips left, read up on Kratom powder on earlier posts as it may help...

I am very interested in how to get off suboxone with minimal withdrawals. My husband is trying so hard to get off the drug. Its tearing him apart. Please help us.

It must just be me but I haven't had any problems not taking my suboxone as much as often or at all. Supposed to take 12mgs a day and I usually only take four if I do at all. Suboxone for me was easy as hell to taper. Especially compared to Opana
......that was hell at it's finest. Just take little less every week month or however. You don't want to expect to taper and be off it in a week...lol....lets use a little less fantasy here. Take your prescribed dose for this week then all next week just two mgs less. Like this.

1st week 12mgs a day
2nd week 10mgs a day
3rd week 8mgs a day

I'm sure you get it.

Ash, as I wish you luck, I know that you won't have any problem going from12 mg to 8 mg to 4 mg of skipping a day as I had no issues either.. But, when you get to 1 mg a day and below, look out! As I hope you don't have issues getting off, I know better. Also, if you can reduce now, it is in YOUR BEST interests to get as low as you can early. There was a time when I reduced down without having physical symptoms. I thought I should take it to feel normal - the mental aspect. It was a lot easier to taper then, before I got "stuck". Good luck and I hope I am wrong...

Suboxin is a combination of 2 medications buprenorphine naloxone( excuse the spelling )anyhow the naloxone is the blocker the buprenorphine is a partial agonist so if you're going to post get your s*** straight first .

Not sure who or what the last post was about! Duh and the point was?? Gotta love *diots! Anyway, I am finally down to 1/4 of a 2mg Subutex daily and have broken the 1/4 in half too. Almost free of this devil drug!

Hey Everyone,SWIM has been on sub treatment 7 months now. SWIMs life has improved greatly! SWIM still hasnt been able to kick pot and has failed 4 ua's. Every time Dr. really doens't freak out. SWIM does ok for a week then the low self esteem hits from horrible sexual trauma at a young age. SWIM has never told anyone.. hinted to the Dr. Cant seem to get a grip. SWIM wants to know do most Dr. give a taper script when they boot a client... If not.. what do you do? Please no judgments about my will and strength or addiction. Until you have been ---- with a stick in front of a crowd of your peers at 11 years old dont even try to judge SWIM life. SWIM just wants to be well prepared.. Please share your insight..

hi everyone I posted before about the study I'm going to be in @ brown. here's the update case study is to start may the earliest, july the latest. I need to be down to 8mg for at least 2 months. I'm perscribed 1 and a half of 8mg a day, but most days I only take 1 anyways. thats the only new info I have. keep ya posted.

Z-MAN the only reason I chose to stay on methadone, in a time when it was called dolophine, was because it was the only part of all treatment modalities I could not conquer. The bio-chemical part, the loss of the production of endorphins - your brain never delivers these in the previous amount EVER again. Naturally, in the early 1970s no one told me how addictive it was. Yet I can tell you, for some of us, addiction to methadone for life, when it works for you, is not a horror. Still, MMT is NOT for everyone, and hardly for some. Nothing works if you don't "work" it, and though I'm a methadone addict now, the stigma is slowly falling away as more and more professionals like myself have come forward. They risk being ostracized and even fired but forward-thinkers see the benefit for SOME, not all. If a person is doing well on methadone, and wishes to someday be free of it, a slow, monitored withdrawal of dose with constant counseling is the best bet - slow and steady wins. I know, I've seen it. I'm cognizant what drug I require, know how to take it, contribute to my job and community with no excuses, and my life is full. If asked, I affirm that indeed, I'm addicted to my medication, given to me legally and with counseling, blood-workups, private therapy, and I stay current with all things connected to opiate dependence. All I'm asking is that you examine the idea that methadone for life - for SOME - (I'm 63) is not a horror but, for a very few, can be the ultimate answer.

Toughy, I first was put on Methadone about 14 years ago. It worked wonders for my pain. But year after year my dose had to be upped as I became "tolerant" to it. Once I made it to 120 mg a day, going up didn't help, so my doctor added other Narcotics to it, Oxy's, Fentanyl, and lastly Opana Er... Even taking 3 different ones at once, I still was functioning but relying on them just to be able to work and keep going. Then, about 3 years ago I screwed up and took some Tramadol one night as I cracked a tooth, was pissed tested at a normal appointment and literally thrown out of the same Doctor's office that I had seen straight for over 11 years. I was forced to see a psychologist to see if I had a "problem". I was cleared by the psychologist. Well the Doctor turned his nose up and left me without any scripts and sent me packing. I searched and searched and upon seeing every pain Doctor within 100 miles of me, most told me that my previous Doctor, "belonged in Prison, Prison, Prison and will most likely be there soon!" I found one Doctor to carry me for a little bit. They all then weened me off one drug at a time. I did so with pain and withdrawal but could not kick the Methadone. I was able to ween down to about 10-20 Mg's, but it was Hard! I could not go below that. I had Wd's for months upon months. I then found a good addictionologist. He suggested / almost forced me to seek in patient detox etc., the problem was that out of 10 different detox centers, only one would see me as they had horrible experiences with methadone. The one that would take me made my new Doc jump through hoops to take me then refused at the end. The only option I had left was to see the big experienced Methadone Detox in Florida. They did not care how much Methadone I person was on, and could do wonders. At $1000 a day, they expected me to stay 20 days, well you figure, I didn't have $20k, so that closed that door. I know what you are saying when you say why stop, it works for me, but even I knew at that time that it would be nice to just not have to rely on a pill to be normal, to wake and sleep normal, to be like normal people... The methadone kept me working and I hear you. And i know there are other reasons to take it, I just kept lying to myself, because I had legitimate pain, and it worked, why fix it. What I've seen this year is that the government would of fixed it anyways, I'm reading the horror stories of patients who can't get their meds because the DEA will not allow Docs to prescribe Narcotics! I'm not going to preach no more.
Now for the Subutex. This last week, I kept getting weaker and weaker with less and less sleep. I then filled my normal Ambien script. I slept great 1st night, half second, then zero, and the sneezing, sweats, all the above from Ambien now!!! Wtf. So, without upping my Subutex, doesn't help anyways, I am desperate. Now if I don't take some A, Wd's are bad... I can't believe it and even taking the A, I still can't sleep now Barely if at all! I am almost at my wits end. And yes, I've taken Ambien for years, get 30, lasts 7-10 days... Still fighting the battle, Z... Good luck. Tired of typing for now, gotta fix leaking sink...

Toughy, also to add, I have a 68 year old mother with rods in her arms and legs from the 2 life-threatening accidents she has been in during her life. She flatly REFUSES to take pain meds after seeing the damage done to me... It tears me up as she can't walk, cries herself to sleep at times... I don't know the answer and I pass NO judgement. Thanks for the info. Even myself, pain is still an issue but I may seek more other alternatives such as acupuncture etc. keep in touch, Z-MAN...

oh forgot to say what its about to those that don't know. A case study is being done to get patients off suboxone! New med you take for roughly 4-8 weeks. No withdrawals, its been proven to work, but this is the first, do not quote me here, FDA case study. Cannot wait to start!! Keep ya posted!!

Risub Really???? People have been saying that for years... My addictionologist who is head of a big hospital said there is no such thing. If you have Any info please share what this site will allow... If you read old posts, people have been saying that. It was always a joke. I truly hope you are right!!

Update, after not sleeping for three days, was given serequel to sleep, had a severe life threatening reaction from it called neuroleptic malignant Sundrome NMS...if you dare take this medication and start having mental mood changes, uncontrolled body temperature, heart rate fast slow or irregular, get to ER! I did not as did not think one single pill could do that and thought it would pass. I had more symptoms and because my family doctor knows I see a specialist for 5 days has refused treatment and NOW realizes they messed up and now I might have facial and body twitches for life! WTF. The pain of every nerve in my body from "spasticing" feels like I have been run over by a train... On the other hand they say they are Sorry I had a bad reaction and on dAy 6 today promise to get things right!!!! Also has taken Severe mental toll on me, Almost over the edge.

Zman, I'm for real, the study is being done by brown university, I'm not surprised that many haven't heard about it, my doctor that prescribes my anti-depressant hadn't heard of the study and they are also in providence ri and hes at butler hospital(which is one of the best mental health hospitals in the usa, and they have worked with brown before), but I guess he and his superior looked into it and found it wasn't bs. like i said it's the first case study of its kind under fda regulations. I'm sooooo excited, my dr (who is also a teacher at brown) is extremely optimistic that this new drug works, I've seen alot of dr in my day and I trust his opinion.

R, I hope so... For the last few months, I haven't had any kind of endorfin high. No energy after eat, no tired feeling Etc. after going through a hell full reaction, family doc. Gave me one doze of lorazapam. I slept for a bit and the next day even felt a little sleepy after eating, unfortunately being a benzo, the doc did not want to prescribe it, and they had no clue of NMS. The benzo Really helped and looks like I have to now go to a psychologist / psychiatrist to get it... What hoops we have to jump through! I've always read that benzos help, but no one wants to prescribe it as they are addicting, but when Really needed, wtf!!! Please share any results of the study down the road... The only good news I have to report is that I am down to less than .33 mg of Subutex...
