How To Get Off Suboxone (Page 28) (Top voted first)
UpdatedIm Marina Im 24 years old and a mother of 2 beautiul little boys. From the years 2006-2007 i was heavily addicted to Oxy 80 and eventually started doing herion. I got help in sep.2007 at a methadone clinic, it worked for as long as i was on the methadone i had NO relapse's. In June 2009 i was completly off of the methadone that first day that i was on 0Mgs I went through extreme withdrawls i went through things that i would never wish upon my worst enemy! i stayed that way for a day and a half and decided to go to a suboxone doctor. He put me on 32 mgs a day which i thought was pretty high of a dose but he explained to me that methadone withdrawls was worst then any other withdrawls. so i trusted him. Now when i go to see him every month i pretty much beg for him to start the weining process and start lowering me and he pretty much refuses. After months of being on 32mgs a day he finally started tapering me down slowly, i never really thought any thing of it till now but i realized he's keeping me on the suboxne for as long as posible so that he can get my $200.00 a month. all he is, is a legal drug dealer bc now im highly addicted to the suboxone. I recently had to go a few days with out my suboxone bc i didnt have the money to see him and i went through hell. i thought methadone withdrawl was bad OMG there is no comparison. i wanted to either use which i havent done in years or rip my face off lol its funny now but it definatley wasnt funny a few days ago while i was feeling that way! So i spoke to a good friend whos going through the same thing and he told me that they just came out with a new pill to get you off suboxone. I just want to know if that's true. I tryed googleing it but i cant find any thing. If you have heard of this new pill please respond or if you even have a good way to get off soboxone as painless and posible... thanx
Hey Monkey, Your doctor seems like he knows his stuff. Thats real important. I,ve been on subs several times with different drs. and just one of them seemed to know about tapering slowly.
One dr. told me if i stopped taking the subs (I was on 8mg at the time) there would be no wd.
That guy clearly didn,t know too much about it and another dr. seemed like he wanted me to stay on it forever. Got the impression this one was just in it for the cash.
Then I had one that was really for tapering "slowly". He would make suggestions about how much to drop down each time but left the choice up to me if I wanted to drop down on dose or not.
I wish I could have gotten with him this time but he was all booked up.
I,m so sick of this pill/sub rollercoaster ride.
I,m gonna not rush it, taper slow, go to meetings which I,m really not that into and try my hardest to stay straight .
I,m just getting to old for this lol.
Hey, if your dr. gives you a list in the future of vitamins to take could you please post it. That would be helpful and interesting.
Hang in there everyone and taper slowly. We can get off subs. I,ve done it before and I,ll do it again. So will you!
Jolter i think you were talking to me and he does he is great if there is anything i can help with i can find out with him or i can find out in class its the most successful in north Carolina i thank GOD for letting me find them its a true blessing to have great and well educated people helping me with my addiction i wish i could put my information on here we have been going through this and on here for about the same length of time and your pretty good about the advice you give so you nust have been through some classes also.
Jolter this is a good place to start my dr said that he would give me a list of vitamins specific to me but that a one a day was good for everyone to start with B vitamins are essential during detoxification from alcohol and drugs. Supplementing with vitamin B1 (thiamine) is essential, ensuring proper brain function and decreasing fatigue, brain fog and poor memory. Wernickie-Korsakoff syndrome, or alcoholic encephalopathy, is a pronounced form of thiamin deficiency. [3] Research has shown that vitamin B3, or niacin, helps alcoholics detox from alcohol. [4] Vitamin B5, or pantothenic acid, helps support adrenal function and also helps rid the body of alcohol. For the recovering alcoholic suffering from insomnia and anxiety, vitamin B6, pyridoxine, is crucial for the production of serotonin and melatonin. Commonly, I give my recovering addicts/alcoholics a high quality B-complex supplement, along with vitamin A and vitamin C, which they are usually deficient in.
Hey Sprinkle, Sorry about the mixup I was talking to you. Thanks for the vitamin info. I actually take a vitaminB Complex along with a one a day Centrum.
I got on the vitamin BComplex routine several months ago after reading about it.
I,ve never taken any classes on subs or tapering. I used to have a very informative sub dr. that told me a lot about tapering. He told me about vitamins but I forgot which ones. He was also a fanatic about excercise when tapering.
I,ve tapered and jumped off subs in the past so I got some ideas about it.
Everybodys made up so differently so what fits one may not fit another but one thing I think is the same for everybody is that you gotta go slow and pay attention to how you feel. Have a great weekend!
Jolter while you were on the higher doses of suboxone did you have trouble with blurry vision i have been having terrible blurry vision but its not all the time ir comes and goes.
Hi, Yes, I,ve noticed that on the higher doses. More so first thing in the morning.
It does seem to come and go.
I wanted to add that I noticed it also when I was taking very high doses of opiates.
Justin im only on 16mgs a day i know people who take 24 and even 32mgs per day so im not on the maximum
I,m on 12mg/day but will be tapering soon.
Hi Steve, Good luck. I,m gonna drop down to 8mg pretty soon myself.
I,ve done this before and never felt much change when dropping on the higher doses. It,s when I get below 4 or 3mgs I feel the drops.
Thats when I start dropping no more then .5mg at a time and I,ll stay at each drop until I feel normal at that dose.
I,ve come off subs several times before like this and it really wasn,t that bad.
It just takes forever but it,s well worth it in the long run.
I will tell you how I got off of suboxone.....I was a addict for years....had several surgeries and doctor this .....more pills that....till I was using em all up weeks before my script came....I was a zombie....I thought I was normal...but I wasn't....then a drug came into my life Suboxone....I took sub's for 2 years and yes it helped....but I wasn't normal....I had a cloud in my brain....my emotions were different my reactions not what they should be.....I had changed so much and didn't realize who I even was anymore....so I had the opportunity to take about three months off work.....even then it was SO HARD TO MAKE IT THREW.....I got some Lyrica and some Benzos about 60 each....I got a bottle of cheap anti diarrhea meds....and every day I would take a few less and a few less....I've been. Off sub's for about 4 months now....I'm afraid I will never be the same....that my thought process has been changed from Suboxone....I've been off and off pain meds for years....but the Sub's I feel changed me forever.....hope it isn't true
I only have one strip left. I cut it into pieces. I will take .5 for 4 days then .25 another 4 days then I will skip aday and do that for 4 days thrn I will have 16 more pieces of .25 and I will go every 3 days for a few of them then skip more days
I have no choice. Does anyone think I will have withdraws I've been on 1 mg for ten month but have been fine on .5 the last few days.
Jill i think you will be ok for the most part i do suggest vitamins and exercise im not meaning alot just get up motivate yourself to walk or something anything it truly helps eat foods that give you energy and i know this is hard to do when you feel a little bad but ive been there before and it was the most helpful things i could do when i was down that low i did feel some wds but not alot i think no matter how low you are your still going to feel some but the more things like what i said will help you most of all also try your best to get a good nights sleep its still hard to do but you have to have good willpower and motivation im sure you can do this ill be praying for you and let us know how your doing jolter also has some great suggestion in eariler post good luck and keep faith you can do this
Thank u sooooo much. I have tramadol a whole big bottle and some zyprexia which knocks me out so I'm saving them plus a few xanax bars forr when I'm feeling bad. I will keep u posted on my journey.
a few weeks ago someone on here told me to take tramadol, he said he took 4 the first day and took them for several days. I thought it would never work but I am on day 9 with no sub and only taking the tramadol. I went down to .50 of the sub and just decided not to go down any further. I am feeling fine, other than a little short of breath and anxiousness I am fine. So whoever said that...THANK YOU!! I would have never done that without your help. Also I just wanted to post this to let others know it works. I have been on Subs for 8 long years...never thought I would be able to get off of them. Thank you all for your support!!
Chaz, that is such good news!!!! I have been on subs slmost a yr. Down to .5 and have decided to cut the last 4mg. Strip into 16 pieces which would be .25 I don't have anymore sub left but have a bottle of tramadol. I do suffer from anxiety so I'm soooooooooo scared it will be worse. I do have a prescription for klonopin but already have a tolerance to it so I'm saving some xanax I got a few for when I completely stop. So let me get this right you were on subs for 8 years and dropped to .5 then stopped andtook tramadol and was fine?
Hi Jill, tramadol will help to take the edge off when you do jump but if I were you I,d keep up the tapering as long as you can. It will definately help minimize any discomforts.
Be very careful with the tramadol. It doesn,t mix well with some meds and I would not take over 150mg a day to start out with. Don,t forget your gonna have to taper off the trams. Another thing is tramadol can cause seizures so you gotta be careful.
Sounds like your doing good so far.
Thank you Jolter. Do u happen to know what meds tramadol doesn't go with? I guess I can google it but I am on zoloft, klonopin and I have some zyprexia which is an anti pychotic that I don't take cuz it knocks me out but was planning on taking it when I jump to help me sleep, along with the tramadol..I'm a oreal wuss when it comes to wd because I already have severe anxiety and wd makes even someone without anxiety have it and I live alone and have to work. I'm also in the legal system and can't let anyone know that I'm doing this which in turn causes more anxiety. And as far as the taper, I only have one 8mg.strip left...so I have to cut it in tiny pieces. And when its gone its gone and I'm freaking out.dreading it.
Hi Jill, yes I was on suboxone for 8 years and really thought I would die on that stuff. I am on day 10 now and I am still taking the tramadol but it would be very difficult to get addicted to tramadol. It's not even a narcotic. In your last message you said you are on .50 now? If you cut your strip into 16 pieces that would be .50.
