How To Get Off Suboxone (Page 23)

Updated

Im Marina Im 24 years old and a mother of 2 beautiul little boys. From the years 2006-2007 i was heavily addicted to Oxy 80 and eventually started doing herion. I got help in sep.2007 at a methadone clinic, it worked for as long as i was on the methadone i had NO relapse's. In June 2009 i was completly off of the methadone that first day that i was on 0Mgs I went through extreme withdrawls i went through things that i would never wish upon my worst enemy! i stayed that way for a day and a half and decided to go to a suboxone doctor. He put me on 32 mgs a day which i thought was pretty high of a dose but he explained to me that methadone withdrawls was worst then any other withdrawls. so i trusted him. Now when i go to see him every month i pretty much beg for him to start the weining process and start lowering me and he pretty much refuses. After months of being on 32mgs a day he finally started tapering me down slowly, i never really thought any thing of it till now but i realized he's keeping me on the suboxne for as long as posible so that he can get my $200.00 a month. all he is, is a legal drug dealer bc now im highly addicted to the suboxone. I recently had to go a few days with out my suboxone bc i didnt have the money to see him and i went through hell. i thought methadone withdrawl was bad OMG there is no comparison. i wanted to either use which i havent done in years or rip my face off lol its funny now but it definatley wasnt funny a few days ago while i was feeling that way! So i spoke to a good friend whos going through the same thing and he told me that they just came out with a new pill to get you off suboxone. I just want to know if that's true. I tryed googleing it but i cant find any thing. If you have heard of this new pill please respond or if you even have a good way to get off soboxone as painless and posible... thanx

Cindy the reason you are still in pain is suboxone does not treat pain if i were you i would go get another dr the maximum dose of suboxone per day is 24mg i hope im reading this as a typo i think you mean 6mg not 60 ive never heard of a dr giving that much that is why you feel so bad suboxone is used to help with withdrawal symptoms not for pain

You need to check your information That is completely incorrect even know it is a partial agonist is still Activates the MU opiate receptors in the brain and other receptor sites throughout the body

Suboxone is so strong that if you OD on it, you can't be brought back with a shot. It's no wonder people are addicted; it was never meant to be a cure, just a way for your money to go to companies instead of dealers. The upside is if you don't abuse them and are prescribed the right amount, you won't overdose from a bag of bomb dope you weren't expecting, or get fake pills made in mexico...

I would NOT advise anyone to taper using Tramadol (Ultram) because at the doses you'd need, you are risking a deadly seizure. It makes the twitchy legs etc. bad and is worse than being stuck on subs.

The only 2 ways I can think of are: 1) to find someone who will prescribe your poison again and taper you (let's use oxycodone as an example), then step down to hydrocodone, and so on. Most doctors would not take the risk. You would also need someone to lock up your meds in a legit safe, hand you doses, make sure you don't cheek a pill, and it would be rather embarrasing.

2) Plain old taper then cold turkey, which for subs would be impossible without professional help, lots of sedatives and adrenaline blockers, and a truckload of Imodium and Robitussin. Sounds like instant relapse with a lower tolerance to other opiates, leading to a lethal OD.

2) Ibogaine. This is a plant that will make you hallucinate and probably vomit, and has a small risk of death. However, many hardcore addicts have gone through it and the NEXT DAY had no dependance. It basically reboots your brain receptors. It is the only "magic bullet" found so far. You many have to leave the country for a clinic. Make sure you find a legit clinic that has medical equipment (heart monitors and defibrillators; you might be somewhere in Bumf***, Peru, unless there are ones in your country) and medications in an emergency situation; I would not try this at home without experienced people unless you really would rather chance death over your addiction.

With either of these you will be dopesick or "poisoned" and need time without work. You need a support network. You need to ask yourself whether being on this pill forever is worth keeping your job; you can always make it a medical emergency. You have to WANT to never touch dope again, no matter how it makes you feel, and be dedicated to your physical and mental health over your sense of security. See this wiki to understand what I mean. There is no "good time" to quit a substance; I should know I was addicted to amphetamines for 7 years and quit on my own.

I wish you all the luck in the world and your struggles have always been in my thoughts. I've lost too many friends to repeated rehab, jail, and trying to find the next fix consuming their whole life. Break the cycle or you will never get your self-esteem back.

Wow. Laudenum, very insightful. Im currently going down on my own. Ive gone from a yr n ahalf ago, taking 3 -8 mg strips a day, to a gram each day on my own. I have a few left, and will cold turkey from there..im not willing to take or get more to get by...what do you recommend, anything to help..? At the end of the month I will have a week to my self, no children no work or responsibilities to WD. I will have my husband s support, but he isnt understanding of its strength or why it takes so long but commits to being helpful if needed...any vitamin or advise as far as my situation?

Hi feliciano,
I,ve jumped off subs before and if you taper as low as you can it won,t be that bad.
If you can taper to .5mg for a week or longer then taper to .25mg for a week or longer you should be fine.
A lot of the horror stories you read are from folks who havn,t tapered low enough or stayed long enough on each taper.
What suks about sub withdrawal is it lasts longer then other opiate wds because of the long halflife. It,s nowheres as intense as an oxy or hydro wd.
You can do this if you really want to.
Don,t rush it and keep tapering.

Hey I know what your going through! I have been on suboxone for that last 8 years and it's driving me crazy!! I want so badly to have the strength to get off of this crap!! My problem is that I'm prescribed 2 8mg a day, but I take one or two extra and run out early! And when I see my dr he gets frustrated and puts me on a week at a time until I don't take extra, but even still I take extra!! Why do I do this to myself! I truly want to stop but my temptation always gets the best of me! I'm married with 3 kids and they know when I run out because I go through withdrawals and I don't want to put them through that anymore!! They don't deserve it! I have depression also and take 60mg of cymbalta a day! I have gained too much weight and have low confidence and self esteem:-( I need the best advice u can give me guys! I can handle it:-(

jolter, im glad to hear that sub WD isn't as intense as the other things I could be taking...very glad. I am down to a gram a day, very tired, I push on. take care of my children and responsibilities...started running, that makes things better. I feel better after. my problem is I have two strips left to my name...I wont get anymore. I will take the plunge into freedom at mid to end of month... what your saying makes complete sense!! Absolutley am sure my WD will be difficult but I know the way your describing is the safest and most effective way to prevail and not go thru hell.*I appreciate the honesty and reality of your experience...will chat throughout my process, as I will need some encouraging.

Blessed momma of 382: Look I am gonna give you my opinion, that's ALOT!!!! I also have two children and truly know that you must keep up daily with them and all you have to be responsible for.. but I have learned that the longer your on subs it makes it harder...You really need to be responsible for going down yourself, if your ready you will. Its a fight. I know. Im routing for you. Exersize, Exersize, Exersize and the St. Johns wort does help. Try a brisk jog in the am or walk w the kids...your endorphins need produced as this drug certainly drains us in many ways, but keeping your spirits up is vital* gd lk

Hey feliciano, When you say your on 1gram I,m guessing thats 1mg. If you been on 1mg for awhile now and your body is used to it (feel normal) why not try .5mg.
The only time in the past I,ve felt the tapers is when I got real low like you are now.
And even then they weren,t too bad. Sleep wasn,t perfect but I got enough so I could go to work. Like I said before, it,s nothing compared to wds. from other opiates. Your right about the exercise, it helps big time.
When your body gets used to the drop (week or so) go down to .25mg.
When you gets used to that, jump off the stuff.
I didn,t just try this in the past the sub dr. had me taper this way and it works.
You can make a couple of subs last a long time when you get real low on your daily dose. It,s just a pain in the butt cutting them in such small pieces.

Jolter, I'm down to 1/4 of a strip, Is that 25 mg. I get so confused with all these people telling you everything. I cut the strip in half, then cut those two pieces in half, am I doing the right thing. I have to get off these things, my money is flying out the window. Had I known, I wouldn't of taken that 1st. one, Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi feliciano, From how many times you,ve cut your strip so far each little square is 2mg.
If you take that little square and cut it in half you will have two 1mg squares.
If you take one of those little squares and cut it in half again you will have two half mg squares.
Now if you took those two tiny little squares and cut them in half again you will have two quarter mg squares.
Sorry if this reply is confusing.
If somebody else could write this out making more sence it sure would be appreciated.
