How To Get Off Suboxone (Page 15) (Top voted first)
UpdatedIm Marina Im 24 years old and a mother of 2 beautiul little boys. From the years 2006-2007 i was heavily addicted to Oxy 80 and eventually started doing herion. I got help in sep.2007 at a methadone clinic, it worked for as long as i was on the methadone i had NO relapse's. In June 2009 i was completly off of the methadone that first day that i was on 0Mgs I went through extreme withdrawls i went through things that i would never wish upon my worst enemy! i stayed that way for a day and a half and decided to go to a suboxone doctor. He put me on 32 mgs a day which i thought was pretty high of a dose but he explained to me that methadone withdrawls was worst then any other withdrawls. so i trusted him. Now when i go to see him every month i pretty much beg for him to start the weining process and start lowering me and he pretty much refuses. After months of being on 32mgs a day he finally started tapering me down slowly, i never really thought any thing of it till now but i realized he's keeping me on the suboxne for as long as posible so that he can get my $200.00 a month. all he is, is a legal drug dealer bc now im highly addicted to the suboxone. I recently had to go a few days with out my suboxone bc i didnt have the money to see him and i went through hell. i thought methadone withdrawl was bad OMG there is no comparison. i wanted to either use which i havent done in years or rip my face off lol its funny now but it definatley wasnt funny a few days ago while i was feeling that way! So i spoke to a good friend whos going through the same thing and he told me that they just came out with a new pill to get you off suboxone. I just want to know if that's true. I tryed googleing it but i cant find any thing. If you have heard of this new pill please respond or if you even have a good way to get off soboxone as painless and posible... thanx
hi, im a 40 yr old mother of two beautiful children who have been through enough in their lives due to my addction and alcoholism. I am 18 months clean/sober, but have been taking SUBS for the entire time. I go down and then up again in my daily doses. I work a vigorous 12 step program but feel that im really not free from addiction!!! I want to be off of this medication completely..please tell me this is possible. I feel like my dr would keep me on forever...
FastEddie, good for you!!! I promise it will get better. If you read the past posts, you have read mine. Most people refuse to believe a life substance free or without Suboxone is necessary. It takes time, but things slowly improve...good luck and I Still am paying the price for all the prescribed pills....I just wish I could find a Doctor smart enough or knowledgeable enough to help "repair" my brain...!!! Z-MAN.
Suboxone is tough. I was on it for 6 years up until 9 days ago. I had a similar situation with my doctor. I was on 24mg/day for 4 years and I told him enough was enough. He almost laughed at me like I didn't know what I was talking about. Anyways, I tapered down 1mg/month for 2years!!!!! I know it seems crazy, but it worked. July 19th I was on 1mg/day and I have had enough.
I have been rocking and rolling. Man it's been tough. I'm on day 9 and its beginning to get better though. My best advise would be to taper down to the smallest dose possible before you try and quit. It still won't be easy, but trying to quit at the dose your on..... Omg I couldn't even imagine. Try and work your way down to a daily dose as small as possible. And if your doc doesn't want you to cut down, do it on your own. Good luck and God Bless
hi i really need to know this 7 day off suboxone miracle. tomorrow is my day 1 without and im ready and willing to tough it out. i have been on less then a whole 8 mg a day for over a year. the last few months i was only taking 4mg a day and the last week i only took 2 mg a day and tomorrow i start with none a day. please reply as soon as possible thank you.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am down to 1mg after 7 yrs of suboxone. Can't stand the RLS, diarrhea, anxiety and depression. I have 7 2mg. strips left. Please let me know how you are doing now!
Kelly, (no offense) but that was a crazy way to do it! Tapering is the key. Why suffer what you did for so long? Obviously you did it and a STRONG congratualtions! I still sneeze a lot and have issues from my reaction to Serequel, but have been off Suboxone for about 6 months now. For those that want off, read old posts and taper slowly. The best tip I read was to stagger your dose. This helped a lot and no doctor could understand how hard it is to get off the stuff. When I hear the "turn to help" commercials for Suboxone, I want to cringe and wish the media would report just how difficult it is to get off Suboxone! Thank You all for sharing, Z-MAN!....
I tapered off suboxone from 16mg per day down to approx. 1 or 2 mg per day. I can go 3 days without any and the forth day I get withdraws. The withdrawal is scary and undescribable. When the withdraw gets too intense I snip a small piece off of the film and it takes care of things. I have been through mild, slow withdrawal for 2 months. Depressed, crying jags, etc. I hope that I will soon be able to stop taking even 1mg. I want to be free of this stuff so bad. Then I have to tackle the Xanax. I am on a low dose of Xanax so maby it wont be too bad. I think my life is better with a small amount of Xanax in me because I am super anxious, hyperventilate, etc. But I don't want to be addicted to any drug and have to worry about running out and facing withdrawal. The last time I withdrew from Xanax I had two seizures.
You really should taper down even lower than what you are. If you do the film, go a couple days with nothing and then snip a small piece off ( like 1 mg or even less) Do that for awhile. Go 2 or 3 days with nothing and then take 1mg or .05mg and so on. That's where I am now. Please keep in touch because we are at the same dose of detox.
Mark I am taking 1mg to .05mg every 2 or 3 days. I did go to 3 days without and the withdrawal is the scariest thing. I could not describe it to another person. I am hoping to go to .05 every 2 o3 days and then .25 every few days and then nothing. Do you think it will work? Have you detoxed from suboxone before? Please respond? {edited for privacy} Thanks
What's the best way to get off subs with out detox? I work in the hospitality and I've quit cold turkey and couldn't work because I gotta be upbeat and happy, hard to do when going thru withdrawal ! I'm trying V B complex and DLPA and St. John's worth but still going back to subs , I'm on such a low dose and am starting to think its all in my head and I should be fine if I take a week off work and just deal with it! Any info would be awesome !
I stumbled upon a small miracle. After being on subs for 7 years ive been off them for 3 weeks. I tried SAM E with vit b complex...200 mg to start and go up 200mgs every few days....i am not sick AT ALL during the day....so much energy and my brain may be healing. I get sick at night take benzos to help. I didnt expect it to work but it does try it get off subs for good even if u have to take SAM e forever. Geti it at gnc or rite aid no script needed ...takes 2 hours to kick in...take on empty stomach upon waking with vit B complex...omegas vit C
Well done maye fair play too you. Keep up the good work, im on subutex and benzo's but still scropted atm am trying tho.
I recently went 4 days w out, i was in serious pain, so i went back, right now im at 1 mg a day, heres the hard cold facts, I have an amazing honest Dr. he is working to get me off after 9 months, he states as clinical fact, we have only a 10% chance of getting off subs and staying clean, he states, not impossible but very difficult, most ppl go back to using or subs....but its not impossible, itwill take a few times, trial and error, keep up the fight and you will win . Keep in touch, the above post is right on, go to gnc, we have to heal the brain, i can deal w 1mg sub for now, just remeber your last days of addiction, the awful cycles of waiting on bs dealers, the loss of $, the pain and suffering you and your family go thru, and it will eventually kill you or jail, you have worked this hard to come this far, keep fighting, god bless, this is a disease, fight it like it was cancer
Yes plz share, ive been battling to get off subs, im at 1mg daily or everyother, it is robbing me of a once fruitful music career. Thanks Mark
I went to rehab and when I got out I was going to NA meetings and had no energy I got prescribed to suboxone after everyone said dont do it. I have been on it for two years this fall. I started at 16mgs a day and am down to 1/4 mg a day. I am starting a new job Wednesday and need to get off. It's too expensive and I hate being on it. I mean 1/4 is such a small dosage does it even do anything? Or is it all in my head? I'm debating about going to my sub doctor one last time to get another script or to just resist and quit. When I start this job I won't have time to go by time I get out of work the office will be closed. I mean this is insane help please any advice success stories just your honest feedback would be greatly appreciated I'm so tired of beig a slave to this mess!!!!
Please see my previous postings. Go to GNC, get Sam-E. Do NOT get it at rite aid or CVS! The ones there don't work I've tried! GNC has the enteric coating. You have got to heal the brain. It's the brain that gets destroyed when using drugs, whether prescribed or not. Sam-E works wonders with Vitamin B complex droppers. Take Fish Oil, and eat lots of Fish too. Take regular supplements, try 5 hour energy also as it is completely natural. 5 hour energy has something called L Tyrosine in it, which you can also get at GNC for a more powerful dosage...this stuff also heals the brain. Take Sam-E in the morning on an empty stomach, with soda which will help it work faster. It will take awhile to kick in but give it a chance. Also, for sleep, if you can get a script for neurontin/gabapentin (a popular mood stabilizer), to take at night only, but make sure not to take too much and take around 4-5 pm. Taking it later than that and you won't wake up! Look online, many people have gotten off of oxy's, methadone, etc with gabapentin and I'm doing all of this now that I'm telling you. If you want, please keep in touch and we can help each other. {edited for privacy}...I will respond!
Please read my posts about what to get at GNC and you will heal your brain.
What does Sam E do?
sam e helps to replace serotonin and dopamine which the brain stops making when you use drugs...I was on subs for seven years, H for two b4 that, and been using everything since age 12...im now 33....remember those commercials this is your brain on drugs. ..we gotta work hard to be even a little normal again
