I recently overdosed on Clonidine. I took 7-9 0.1mg pills. I don't remember if it was 7 or 9, because I started getting sleepy and my mind was hazy at that point. I am 16, 135 pounds, and 5'6". I was rushed to the ER when I told someone that I had taken too many. If I hadn't have gotten treatment immediately within an hour I would have gone into a coma and most likely died from heart failure. If you accidentally take more than prescribed You Need To Get Immediate Medical Help. Call 911 immediately, as you can't drive when under the influence of such medication. Clonidine lowers blood pressure and heart rate. An overdose can easily be FATAL. Please be careful and only take what is prescribed, and if you feel you need a higher dosage ASK YOUR DOCTOR AND GET IT APPROVED.

My small 9 year old has been taking 0.3 for years now plus 9 mg of melatonin to sleep. He's almost 4 foot and 41 lbs mostly all bone. He has actually taken 0.9 mgs clonidine and nothing happened. All kids are different but it won't hurt him. I'm on 12 mgs of clonidine at night plus another sleeping med. I once took 35 of my meds and all it did to me is make me stay up all night. I am perfectly fine with no other side effects. I know clonidine can help with sweating but the best med I found to work for that is oxybutynin. I'm on 20 mgs in the morning and it works 99% of the time. No med is perfect at working all the time.

No, this is not an overdose. It will make you sleep a while. this is only 0.3 mg.

Yeah, it doent hurt. But i seriosy hope you mean 0.1 not 1.1, that would be 11 times the starter dose. It normally only goes up to 0.6 in severe cases.

Dr. Rational, If you have to ask how obesity and the joint commission are related, the manual was updated in April of 2017. You are a doctor right? Also, sometimes helping people means telling them the truth about what healthy, safe, and not so healthy behavior is and sometimes this involves weeding through the BS to get to the truth. It sounds like you are butt hurt by proxy. I did mention whether there was a tone in my post or otherwise that these individuals should bee seeking the consult of qualified health care professionals, so if you happen to be offended by my post, I don't really care.

Um nurse jenny, how are obese individuals causing the joint commission to breath down anyone's neck? Just curious cause your rant was quite long. And personally all of these posts are utter nonsense to begin with. Half sounds like attention seeking and the others are so off topic it's laughable. For someone who just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with a possible lethal dose of clonidine this thread has spun way off its intended purpose. Your rant being one of them. Sounds like your just a frustrated health care professional who just wanted to blow some steam at some people who from the sounds of it need some serious help. So how does your needless b****ing help in any way? Either find another stress reliever or find a better forum to spit your venom.

If your doctor says take Clonidine 0.1mg daily at bedtime.....that is expressly what he wants. He would write a script slash order if there are gray areas or off label uses for the med. If he doesn't...I don't know. How bout you schedule yourself a doctor's visit at the clinic. The emergency room does NOT count as a wellness exam. Based on some of your posts I can imagine many of you frequent the ER for preventable self directed health problems. Stop asking Dr. Google, stop comparing your health to everyone else's health, and for the love of God stop taking everyone else's pills, stop giving your pills away, stop trying to titrate your OWN dosage by asking other unqualified *****s that you don't even know about how much you should be taking. Stop asking each other for medical advice. I am pretty certain in fact I would bet my entire paycheck that a doctor knows a little more than any of you people. After reading some of these nonsense posts I am wondering why none of you have perished for the choices some of you are making. I get a little tired of the joint commission breathing down all of these doctors necks because of fatties, drunks, drug addicts can't get their damn s*** together.

Actually they are commonly used to help treat addiction. Well more to help with some of the withdrawal symptoms. Again some like sweating, chills, restlessness, anxiety, etc, but not all.

gleefully attribute taking 10 times the recommended dosage makes you "feel great" . Do yourself and see a competent prescriber to evaluate your condition. Providing such information to those who make be struggling with life and death issues is reprehensible .

No doctor would prescribe that much 20 pills of .2s is like .40mg total that is lethal saying this med is mainly for your BO most people overdose with .10mg and up and requires a hospital for 48+ hours
