How Long Does It Take For The Withdrawals To Go Away After Taking Suboxone (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Updated

Hi, I was put on the 8 mg. strips at 3 per day in Oct. 2012..I used 3 per day for a couple of month's.. I quickly tapered down to 1&1/2 of the strip's per day..I got so tired of being on it so I began to stock pile it to withdraw on it at home.. I got down to 1-2 mg.s per day for about the past month and began yesterday (Monday) withdrawing..It's now Tuesday (July 9,2013) and still feel like I did yesterday.. No vomiting nor the big "D" but sweating, lethargic, chilling, feel achy, etc.. How long will it take for the withdrawal's to completely go away..PLEASE answer ASAP & THANKS....Oh, don't scare me about it because I'm all ready an emotional wreck..

Hi thanx for the message. Ive been on a dose of generic suboxone 8/2 for almost 7 years. Im fighting with myself to stop asking doc for xanax because i went though cold turkey withdrawl from and it was the WORST! But anyhow, i was a junkie hardcore for 20+ years and the suboxone has really saved my life but but i think its time i get off them. Im going to taper down like i did before. I was down to 1/2 a day! With no symptoms at all. Then like i said i screwwd up and now am on one and a half. I just want to get clean for real. I dont the suboxone at all btw...no buzz at all. Just makes me normal. Now the xanax yes i do feel, and they are very bad. Kinda freaks me out that my doc even gives me them knowing my addiction history. But its up to me to take the proverbial bull by the horns and get myself together. Thanks for your imput, I really appreciate it!

Do not take Tramadol! This is pretty much why I'm taking subs. Lots of docs think they are ok, but w/d from them are worse than opiates! They are the devil in disguise. I've noticed more docs are becoming aware of the horrible effects of Tramadol, but it's still being prescribed even sometimes for sub withdrawal. Not a good choice to make you feel better unless you want another worse addiction. Believe me, Tramadol is not a drug to get involved with.

I've been clean for these past 7 years off opiates and crack. But im on that pharmaceutical s***. I dont remember the last time i was totally clean. Probably my last jail bit...?? Im going to investigate that stuff you are talking about. I am not around drugs/addicts so im not worried about relapsing if i did get on subutex. Im just thinking one less ingredient would be easier to kick.. I appreciate your support!

Mornin,
Yea that sub doctor is a piece of trash. It seemed like mine never wanted me to get off. Everytime id ask he would switch topics. As long as he gets that $50 up front charge. You need to be in communication with your regular doctor. You need to have open dialogue too.

That blows my mind because i am on suboxone and my doctor gave me a big bottle of tramadol for a bad back. I still have a whole bunch in my cabinet, and me being a long time dope fiend, that would not have been the case if i even felt them!but i took them a few times and felt nothing! And also I noticed last time i was at the docs theres a new sign on the wall that says michigan just categorized tramadol as a controlled substance! So they must be something heavy but i swear i felt nothing from them! Im going to check out that stuff that starts with a g to get off the subox. Its really nice to be able to chat with other folks that know what you are going through and dont judge you, so thanks everyone!

Theobe,

I'm glad you did not feel anything from tramadol bc it will get you. The evil little suckers. Withdrawal is absolutely the worst pain I've ever been in. Toss them!

It's the other way around. If you take an opiate and then take subs before the opiate is out of your system you will go into precipitated withdrawals. But if you take a sub and then an opiate, you will just waste the opiate. It is blocked from attaching to your receptors and you simply pass it through your system. As for only taking it one day and not needing it the next, I'm not so sure about that. Subs have a long half life but need to build up in your system. If you stop after one day, you will more than likely be in withdrawal the next day. Not to mention, why would anybody do that? Subs are supposed to break the mental habit of needing opiates. Skipping days that early in detox is really just wasting the purpose that subs are meant for.

Where do I start, to get on suboxone? I'm in Indiana...It has helped me get off 80-120mg of vicodins/day..but when I try to stop taking it I get terrible withdrawals...I've been taking half a 2mg pill a day now from 2-4 2mg pills/day. Actually I started taking a quarter of a 2mg the beginning of this week, trying to wean off..I'm terrified of the withdrawal as its worse than ANY other withdrawal symptoms..I've tried 4 times only mine come immediately after I stop taking it, like by the 2nd day terrible nausea, can't sleep can't eat restless legs and arms disorienting chills then sweating profusely, it's miserable..I run a business with my husband and CANT AFFORD TO GO THROUGH the withdrawal, which I've only made it to 6 days before..I just wanna know how I can get on it as every time I've tried I've been told I also have to go to counseling 3 x's a week for 3 1/2 hrs per session at a cost of 150 per session..I have no insurance, I pay cash for EVERYTHING. I have 4 little boys who I can't afford to just ignore while I detox from this evil drug...I really want be able to taper off but I just don't see how it's going to happen...

It took me 6 weeks to feel halfway normal after subs. I was useless for 6 weeks. I'd rather go through opiate withdrawals for a week. It is possible to get off them, but just be prepared. I jumped off at 1 mg and was only taking 4mg a day. I took for a year. So since August 22nd 2015, I've been successfully clean of Suboxone. I'm still not 100%. But being clean is liberating.

My depression is about to kill me and I have no where to turn. I try to find support with my family but the sad reality in life is that most people are in it for themselves and when someone see's you struggle they never want to reach out their hand. That's how I feel. I'm completely destroyed and have given up on myself and this life. 10 years clean and in a matter of seconds back to the misery. I do not and can not go through this again. I do not understand why people I have helped many times in the past have turned their back on me. When I have never done anything bad to them. I only hope this finds someone and they do not give up as I did. Your life is worth it.

If u take 1 mg of suboxones for a month take half a mg for 2 weeks. It's about a week of b*****yness. Cannabis really really helps.

Hello there everyone! I have been on Suboxone for about 2 and a half years and there is no doubt about it, I am addicted to it. Which was the very thing I was trying to beat when I got on the suboxone, my ADDICTION! If I would have known then, that it just would have been easier to just withdrawal off of the pills I was taking, I would have done just that and been done with everything! I think the thing that bothers me the worst is the ANXIETY! I am trying to taper myself down because my doctor seems like he would let me drag the suboxone use out forever! I am just wondering if I just start taking like 1 or 2 mg a day am I going to experience bad withdrawal symptoms like I just went cold turkey or will I be okay? I think if I had some idea, my anxiety wouldn't be so bad! It is just the thought of having to suffer through those horrible withdrawals is what freaks me out and makes my anxiety shoot through the roof and then I just want to sit there and cry! Even though I know that will not make anything better! Thanks for listening!

It took me about 6 days before my Withdrawal really kicked in. I hate to tell you this but It was probably 50 days before I felt somewhat normal (physically). Bupernorphine has an incredibly long half life so sometimes it can take 7-10 days before you really feel the DT. I was on 4mg a day for 4 years, life is so much better clean!

Stop! I'm begging u. Stop. Detoxing off this is worse than opiates and u are gonna eventually want to detox because this s*** dulls everything.

I realize that these posts are old, but I happened to stumble onto this site for something completely unrelated and finally felt a kinship. I got hooked on painkillers after a birth injury, got sick of living my life around them, but had too much going on to go through withdrawals (work, child, husband, house) so a friend told me about Suboxone. I have been on 2 and 1/2 a day for 5 years. I think I jumped from the frying pan into the fire. I also can't see myself stopping anytime soon. Would like to hear other's stories and advice. Would be nice not to feel alone in this. Would love to hear from u all ;)

I'm proud that you took the time to take the dose down. I can tell you from experience that I withdrew cold turkey 1st from 24 mgs/day and then again from 8/mgs per day. I can tell you that there was very little difference in how I felt. I was unable to sleep the first week each time and dealt with restless leg syndrome that went to my arms, and couldn't eat for 3 weeks. I'm an older guy so that may have a lot to do with ability to get it out of my body. I've met people in their 20's who still say it is harder to get off of than H of other opiates but they seemed fine after a week or so.

Yes you can take a very very low dose of benzodiazepines with suboxone

Thanks, Karen. I'll look Serotonin Syndrome up. I've never heard of it, but it doesn't sound good. I'm aware of the side effects of Neurontin, but why is melatonin potentially harmful?
