How Long After You Stop Suboxone Do You Have Withdrawal Symptoms? (Page 26)

My 63y/o mother survived chemo and radiation for throat cancer but was unable to stop the morphine 15mg twice a day without horrible withdrawal symptoms. Her MD put her on Suboxone 8mg/2mg once a day in June. She even took half the strip on most days and the doctor was very pleased and anticipated that she would be able to stop altogether in November. She unfortunately had a stroke 14 days ago and has been in the hospital. The first 7 days she was confused from the stroke but now she is weak and forgetful but is no longer disoriented. She told me tonight that she thought she needed her Suboxone. She said she thought she was going thru withdrawal. I was floored. She is not having any outward signs of withdrawal: no back/stomach pain, no nausea/vomiting, no sweating or tremors. Isn't 14 days long enough for the Suboxone to be completely out of your system and for withdrawal symptoms to have come and gone??? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.
So in essence the true goal is to avoid, Paws, post addiction or acute withdrawal syndrome, get on and off, get away from it within a month to three or daily symptoms will linger. Look up low dose naltrexone, repeated microdose naltrexone. All the suffering and death for money. Like you, I was the first and people need to know the longer the harder playing life catchup and beating sober ptsd for the misguided and street addict without silver spoon lineage or rainy day, NO OBAMACARE, IT HELPS IF U GOT LUCKY AND HAVE A DECENT INSURER. get your mom back on subs ASAP She is suffering withdrawal I know I have been there I was one of the first people in my area Allentown Pa to be put on subs She is experiencing PAWS Post acute withdrawal system Most MD do not know anything about this and to get certified to prescribe it you have to take a 8 hour course online I probably know more about it than most sub docs over 7 years of good and bad experiences GET MOM ON SUBS
Thank you so much!?? i really appreciate the recognition. Omg they want me to write a book on here! Just wanted to say thanks for the support!
I would suggest at least checking your facts which are way off. Subutex is still legal. Half the people in my IOP are on it. It is hard, but we all knew we would have to pay the piper eventually. I'm having a hard time to come off but there's no choice in it now. And compared to what I felt coming off opiates, I'd still take this. But that's my opinion. Good luck everyone.
Thoebe you should be congratulated good work!!
MarleyTB: I am proud of you. I agree with everything you say regarding individuality and getting off this drug. I am 69. Less activity and slower metabolism. What drives me insane are the people who think they are clean because they are on Suboxone. It is nuts. YouTube has several testimonials. Very few over 6 months sticking with it.
Im in michigan too and i just switched from 7 years of 2- 8/2 suboxones, to one subtex and one half of a suboxone. So they are not off the market. I know the withdrawl from suboxone is unthinkably horrifying but it has saved my life from a 20year hardcore opiate addiction. The only thing that did it. So im just hoping i can get off all this stuff soon...
Tommy C I think it's different for everyone, I've been off subs for almost 2 months and my accute withdrawal symptoms have subsided, and no paws anymore either. My sleep patterns are slowly coming back to normal I was on subs for 5 years but only had opiate addiction for 2 years. So I feel so great now, some days I'm a little moody but I keep the task at hand. I work and stay busy, eat well, exercise, and get out with people as much as I can ! I actually don't feel anixiety around people anymore, I used to never go out anywhere on subs now I feel like I'm me again! I laugh more than I ever have. I feel like subs numbed me of who I really am for past 5 years. Good luck to anyone getting off , it's a great step! And remember everyone's expierence will be different I came off subs at 0.25mg and heavy withdrawals only lasted about 10 days. Then I was at least Able to function. So everyone will expierence a different withdrawal depending on ur health, what mg u jump off at, how strong you are, so hope this helps !
I have been off of Suboxone for almost six months. I am still in acute withdrawals. My symptoms are burning skin from the top of my head to my toes, stomach cramps, irregular burning bowel movements, fuzzy brain when I awaken, burning tongue all the way through my GI system including my rectum, acid watering eyes, irregular sleep patterns and many other painful withdrawal affects. Getting off of this drug is pure hell. Has any reader made it this long without going back to an opiate? The Toxicologist and the psychiatrist both indicate this could go on for two years. I am almost a quarter of the way through it. I was taking prescribed 8 mg a day for five years. My pain doctor liked my insurance more than my welfare. I was not an opiate user or street drug buyer. Subs were suppose to get me off of 100 mg per day OC addiction from surgery. I wish I never had the surgery knowing what I do now. I have written Rickett Banister and the FDA for help and was ignored. You will read about people who think they are done with withdrawals in 14 days. They have not even started yet. My research indicates the FDA will outlaw this drug within a year from now. SUBUTEX has already been taken off of the market. Have you ever heard of anyone having a problem getting off of SUBUTEX? NEVER! Have you ever seen any long term studies on the effects of using 2 mg of Naloxone over an extended period. NO! This quick fix has turned into a national nightmare. People I know who have gotten off of opiates and Methadone say their experience trying to get off of Suboxone is hundreds of times worse. This is why you never hear from anyone who has been off Suboxone for more than 60 days. In Michigan they are making it very difficult to obtain opiates. Without some fast intellectual work by the drug companies, opiates will be used more and more. Much cheaper than the Suboxone routine and easier to get off.
I am sorry I sound so pessimistic however you deserve to know the truth and prepare yourself. Working while withdrawing from Suboxone in nearly impossible. I only know of one person who was able to do it. He is in his eighth month and still in misery. As you read these responses pay attention to how long they have been off of Suboxone. Most people cannot kick it.
Ur so lucky!! I been on so much suboxone for last 8.5yrs @20mg per day. B4 this I was using H, OC, a few vics but not a fan of hydrocodone. makes me itchy and red! Anyways I use a reg. dose of 10mg Ambien or 30mg Temazepam for sleep as needed and helps w/ restless legs, muscle cramps, etc... I would not recommend this 4 everyday use but I deff. would look into it for the people having a ridiculously hard time getting off and or for the onset of PAWS!! its not a cure all by any means as these can become just as addicting or more!! Stay strong, exercise when poss. think positive thoughts and listening to ur fav. music helps as well. stay around people that don't use any Op's or other drugs of ur choice and this will also help. Erase all old hooks and phone #s away and make sure to toss away all unused suboxone/subutex or figure something out!! I been off subox for one month after almost 9yrs and Im still up and dwn but like the other person said I cant wait to feel like myself again. also get off slowly!! the more u use the longer, and stronger the the w/d symptoms will be so take care everyone and if this only helps even one person its well worth it!
Wow i guess im not in the cool clique so i get no input....
Help I have been doing suboxone for a month I am withdrawing but not as bad as I was when I used to do it for a year straight when will it be over ?? I've been drinking water upon water plz help me thank u
Sarah you are in my prayers love; so many folks are wrongly diagnosed as addicts, and this current person in D.C. has instigated these drugs to wrongly incriminate.
You are doing marvelous work; if one thing works continue it. Try to increase clear fluids as tolerated--just as when dope sick for example old fashioned Popsicle ice pops can be a lifesaver; take several large glasses put in freezer with a few fat straws; let your favorite soda sit with lots of ice cubes to the top for 5 to 10 minutes and chase that nausea away.
Through my years of support and research I have found opioids cause sympathetic system response which is GI mediated; that nausea and vomiting can be reduced by ice cold beverages and ice pops to reduce not only the cramping, but clearing toxins.
Smiles and hugs love!
Well today I am on day 11 :) I feel pretty good this morning. Still having stomach issues, and was really hard to get to sleep but once I finally fell asleep I slept like a baby. I think the melatonin helped. Plus I took some Valerian Root which I think helped tremendously! I was so worried I'd wake up feelin horrible again but Nope. I feel pretty happy. I've found that Music helps A Lot too! I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and it feels GREAT!!!!!! EVERYONE GOING THROUGH THIS DO NOT GIVE UP! IT CAN BE DONE.
GOD BLESS you all
Sarah and others I am an ultra rapid opioid metabolizer and if I do not get a new PM specialist soon will die as I have progressed to Central Pain Syndrome the new restrictions by the FDA and the fact that I was seeing the top specialist 5 years; he is in California I'm in Texas threw 30 of us out with new regs in California. Basically left to die I just know some of you are legitimate pain clients or could be and this drug is just a piss poor excuse; it categorizes you when other physicians hear you went on it and so forth. For those with intractable pain it is not a substitute.
You guys are awesome and should be proud.
The buprenorphine has a healthy half-life of 36 hrs. This means that symptoms of withdrawal should last the better part of a month. For longtime users, symptoms of opioid withdrawal may be present after 45 days.

Make sure you taper Very slowly! If I was you I'd go down to 1/12mg for 3 days then stay on 1 mg for 2 days. Then 1/2 mg for 2 or 3 days then 1/4 mg for about 3 days then if you have any left over cut them smaller than the 1/4th (tiny tiny pieces) and keep taking that for as many days as possible. Then jump. It's still gonna be pretty hard but have faith in yourself! If I have come this far I know you can and will!!!! Just remember the pain is only temporary. Good Luck to you. And Pray Pray Pray.
I'm proud of you. I've been tapering but I had a hell of a lot left so I kept going back to about 2mg which was comfortable for me. I had 44 8mg strips when I decided to taper. It only took me a week to get to 2mg from 12 mg. I can't believe how much they prescribe some people. I came off of two years of opiates and they put me on 12mg while there was a person in my IOP coming off of 20mg of Vicodin a day that they put on 24mg. They pretty much give you what you want. I'm down to 3 strips and I'm gonna taper down from my 2mg starting tomorrow and I'm done. I'm done I'm done I'm done.
Also I wanted to let you guys know how I'm doing on my 10th day. It almost feels like my 8th day which was Great. Then yesterday took a few steps back and just felt like crap again. The restless leg came back last night with a vengeance :( I only got a few hours of sleep but that a hell of a lot better than none! It's pretty early here. I gotta get my daughter up soon and take her to school. I really don't wanna go anywhere but whenever I push myself to go out (just for under an hour) I do feel So Much Better!! Gonna go take my vitamins that I had mentioned yesterday. An Drink Lots and Lots of water. Stomach still feels pretty bad, still a little hot and cold but at least the sweating has stopped. My shirts the first 7 days were Always soaked with sweat Ugh glad that part is over. Oh hot bathes with ebson salt help A Lot too! I couldn't even get in the tub the first 6 or 7 days. I just couldn't stand Freezing when it come time to get out. So far through this I have lost 10lbs which puts me at 123lbs. Cause I either can't eat. Don't want to ect. But the last couple days I made myself eat little things. Like some grapes, cereal and crackers. Well I'll try to write in this evey couple days to let you see that it really doesn't last Forever. Yes it lasts a long time but just look at it as your body is fixing itself. Good Luck to all and God blese
Thank you! An I couldn't agree more with you! I truly believe the doctors are in it for the money and that just makes me sick!!! Cause let's face it. They almost Always put you on a To high of a dose and when you do want to taper down they Always say " Oh No I don't think you're ready . Suboxone should ONLY be used coming off of a Very strong opiate. An can not last any longer than a month at the monst
