How Long After You Stop Suboxone Do You Have Withdrawal Symptoms? (Page 20)

Updated

My 63y/o mother survived chemo and radiation for throat cancer but was unable to stop the morphine 15mg twice a day without horrible withdrawal symptoms. Her MD put her on Suboxone 8mg/2mg once a day in June. She even took half the strip on most days and the doctor was very pleased and anticipated that she would be able to stop altogether in November. She unfortunately had a stroke 14 days ago and has been in the hospital. The first 7 days she was confused from the stroke but now she is weak and forgetful but is no longer disoriented. She told me tonight that she thought she needed her Suboxone. She said she thought she was going thru withdrawal. I was floored. She is not having any outward signs of withdrawal: no back/stomach pain, no nausea/vomiting, no sweating or tremors. Isn't 14 days long enough for the Suboxone to be completely out of your system and for withdrawal symptoms to have come and gone??? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Hi again sneezy!! So sorry my post took so long yesterday, I wrote it as soon as I read yours but it went in for review for some reason and posted late. Let me know please how it works for you ok? Waking up every hr on the hr sucks!,,one time I was helping a friend detox in my home and after the ebpsom salt bath I massaged some leg cream into her legs gave her a big dose of amodium and she fell asleep for 7 hrs! I so wish that for you :). I don't know if you are a " family guy " fan but if you put that on Netflix quietly in background ( I used my iPad) it distracts you from trying too hard to fall asleep and then you just do. I like season 9 episodes 1 and 2 titled" and then there were fewer part one and two. It's got a full orchestra in the background and something about the hushed voices puts me out. ( animated things like " finding nemo" works too! I wish you luck and cannot wait tio hear back from you. YOU ARE DOING GREAT! Mp.s. How's the sneezing?

Hopefully you will see it soon. Just be sure to get your amodiumD and ebpsom salts for tonight and keep your eye open for my detailed post after this one :)

GREAT JOB SAMMY! Hard to believe less than 5 days ago you were feeling so helpless and so bad, with no end in site. Now here you are, on the other side feeling the " sunshine" again that is great and your story will inspire others for years to come, as they search this site for answers. GOOD LUCK, AND ALWAYS REMEMBER IF YOU GOT THROUGH THIS, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO!

I decided to try and remember what I wrote since my post isn't up yet. I helped a friend detox and go through withdrawals at my home last year. After a nice ebpsom salt bath I massaged her legs with a leg cramp cream, gave here the nuerontin (gabapentin) and about double the dose of imodium. Within. We turned on Netflix ( family guy) reruns on the iPad for a distraction (finding nemo works too!). That way you don't feel the pressure of trying to sleep lol. Anyway she fell asleep and slept for about 6 hrs. If it's been over an hr and you do not feel improvement I would take some more. Keep me posted. I know you said you had to work today, so although I think you will notice relief of symptoms, I think it will be more noticeable when it's time to go to sleep for the night. I'm sure my other post will come up eventually, hang in there you are doing great!

OmgMamma, I do not think your posts were saved. I get my word verification wrong all the time and my posts get put up right away. I woud love to know what your input was. I took 2 Imodium last evening but not sure how many too
take . I am in fear of causing constipation.... Is there something I should do to prevent that while taking this medicine? Ugh sorry you have problems posting...you have been a good support system.

Hi deedee, the insomnia and waking up every hr or two without being able to go back to sleep could last close to a month, especially since your other symptoms abated so quickly. I'm curious if the reason you are not sleeping is because you have restless legs and or agitation? Either way if melatonin, and over the counter sleeping aides aren't helping you should ask your doctor for something. Good luck and keep posting

OMGmama my doctor said he will put me on Ambien but I said no because then I wont know when my sleep pattern gets better on its own. I'm shocked because I was on such a small dose 2years at .5 twice daily. I'm shocked that I did so good coming off and then the insomnia hit. Now I do have restless legs but take clonidine for that and Benadryl, melatonin, b vitamins, multi I, potassium, GABA calm. So you think another 10 days and my body will feel normal?

I'm so sorry and I am getting frustrated I have posted over 6 now. I don't know if it's one word I'm saying that's flaging it or what. I hope you slept well and I know it's fine to take multiple doses unless you get constipated. How did you do last night?

Most likely yes, I understand and commend you for not wanting another strong drug for sleep but keep in mind Ambien is used for people who need to reset their clock such as night shifters, and in the military so give it some thought. Even if you took it for only 7 days it could give you that REM sleep you so desperately need to feel better. Keep in touch. :)

I'm trying this again lol...What does all this have to do with Imodium AD or Loperamide? Well, Loperamide is actually an opiate. As such, it deals treats withdrawals by giving the body exactly what it is craving for – another shot of an opiate. However, it has a number of significant differences from opiates like H.

Benefit #1: The first benefit is that Loperamide does not have the psychoactive properties of other opiates. In other words, it does not make a person high. This makes sense because it is a medical product – so the psychoactive properties are eliminated. This means that a when a person takes it, it treats their withdrawal symptoms without making them high. Since a core component of opiate addiction is the high that people get from it, Loperamide is helpful because it reduces the likelihood of relapse.

Benefit #2: Secondly, another benefit of Loperamide is that it doesn't create further stimulation of the opiate receptors in the brain. This occurs because it does not cross the blood-brain barrier. Again, this property comes form the fact that it is a medical product which is designed to treat physical, not psychological addiction issues. This means that Loperamide deals with the withdrawal symptoms at a physiological level. However, the most important part of this is that the opiate receptors begin to shrink back to their normal levels. Left undisturbed with, the opiate receptors regain their normal levels and as soon as that happens, the person no longer experiences withdrawal symptoms.

OMGmamma do you mean I literally wont sleep for another 9 days? That is when I hit day 30. Or will I start sleeping a little bit more before that? I have lost my peripheral vision, can't eat and starting to forget. I probably have only slept 1hour every 2 or 3 days for a little over a week. It wont stay this bad much longer? I would think my body would shut down eventually. Refuse to take sleepers. I wont to do this so I can edu care myself on how many days it actually takes so I can give my testimony on this site. I need prayers and others testimony please!!!!

The insomnia is the worst part of WDs! When I hit the 2nd week of WDs I started taking gabapentin and it really helped with the RLS and insomnia. Also, exercising earlier in the evening helped. Even just taking a short walk. Anything to get your circulation pumping. The gabapentin will help increase your appetite as well which in turn will also help.

Pit fan i take neurontin (gabapentin) it helps tremendously. I just had to get brave enough to take a higher dose. I am afraid of the Imodium. I do not want the side effect of constipation. I have been eating so much! I wake in the middle of the night and eat! I didn't know neurontin caused that! I can't afford to gain weight, I'm already over. Thanks for sharing!

I have been taking neurontin at night and it givese some relief although still not sleeping over a couple hours at a time. Thanks for all uour info about Imodium , maybe a higher dose would work for me but I can't handle constipation .
