How Long After You Stop Suboxone Do You Have Withdrawal Symptoms? (Page 15)

Updated

My 63y/o mother survived chemo and radiation for throat cancer but was unable to stop the morphine 15mg twice a day without horrible withdrawal symptoms. Her MD put her on Suboxone 8mg/2mg once a day in June. She even took half the strip on most days and the doctor was very pleased and anticipated that she would be able to stop altogether in November. She unfortunately had a stroke 14 days ago and has been in the hospital. The first 7 days she was confused from the stroke but now she is weak and forgetful but is no longer disoriented. She told me tonight that she thought she needed her Suboxone. She said she thought she was going thru withdrawal. I was floored. She is not having any outward signs of withdrawal: no back/stomach pain, no nausea/vomiting, no sweating or tremors. Isn't 14 days long enough for the Suboxone to be completely out of your system and for withdrawal symptoms to have come and gone??? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

8 days ago I quit suboxone not taking any at all for 7 days and on the 7th day I had such high anxiety I folded and ended up taking 2mg of suboxone. I know STUPID! Anyway all of the bad symptoms were pretty much gone, just bad anxiety. Does this mean I am gonna start my withdrawl all over???

My seizures, as I found out, were due to the fact I have epilepsy. And withdrawal in epileptics precipitates seizures. I had myoclonic seizures for 8 + days and ended up in critical care for a couple of days. Actually the withdrawal from a narcotic causes the seizures in epileptics. Also can't have herbal or vitamin supplements as they can also cause seizures. I am on Tramadol, a synthetic opiate, so no more seizures. It is wonderful to have my RA pain abated finally, as well as my spinal stenosis, herniated disc, & sacrailiac joint disorder in my hips & pelvis. Believe me when I tell you I am a walking/talking medical mess. I am done posting. I am thankful to the people on this site! God Bless & I wish you all well!

the anxiety & depression was really bad for me during & especially after the acute w/d's. i found blasting music in my ears really loud helped with that. ive also seen alot of other people say blasting music has helped them. i think its due to the fact really your mind cant listen to the music that loud and concentrate on the anxiety at the same time. im currently 41 days off subs and i still have sneezing. i do still get anxiety but not that often or that bad. i also still get the depression but it is slowly lifting. those were the worst for me. i think the mental part of it is the worst. also they say the longer you are on them the longer your w/d can be & you run the chance of getting p.a.w.s. which they cant tell if you get till you are past the 90 day mark as they say it takes 90 days to recover fully so i myself am hoping that this will all be gone by then and i dont have the p.a.w.s. other then that thru the acute w/d i just let my body do what it needed to do. i took no comfort meds at all. the acute part for me lasted about 18 to 20 days id say but alot say about 14 or so days but i also was on this for 5 yrs & i jumped at taking 8 to 12 mgs. a day. the lower you can get your dose before you jump the better. i couldnt do that. i just had to quit.

I have a quick question. I have never had an addiction or abuse problem of any type. For the past 6-8 months I have been taking about 1mg of sub a day, some days less.

If I were to just quit, should I expect to have any withdrawal? If yes, I cannot imagine it should be too harsh, correct??

Thanks

I also did not have an addiction problem and took 2mg of suboxone for 6 months. When I quit I did go thru withdrawl for 2 weeks, 5 days being the worst and after that I was just tired. The best advice I can give is "QUIT NOW," you will survive.

So you are saying the first five days were the worst, then for the rest of the two weeks you were just tired?

That's right! But remember everyone is different and can be affected differently.

Into day 4 with no symptoms yet. Am I correct in thinking that if I was taking 1mg or less for 6-8 months that due to it being a small amount it would get out of my system quicker and therefore if withdrawal was to happen it would more than likely set in faster??

will i also quit taking 8-12 mgs a day. i took them for 5 yrs. if you are 8 days in you will probably have about another week of acute w/d's. as for the sleep & mental part after the acute thats been my biggest problem. im now 45 days off subs and im still having problems with sleeping. i get maybe 4 hrs in a 24 hr period of sleep. they say your sleep pattern really doesnt start straightening itself out till around 90 days. right now due to lack of sleep & barely any energy i have to work my days around what ill be able to do & try to get a nap in during the day cause sleeping at night is the hardest for me. but everyone is different so your sleep may straighten out alot sooner. you will also have the leg cramps and back pain during the acute phase. you may also get restless legs. i only got them for like 3 nights but alot of people say thats the worst part for them.

It took me two full months before the withdrawls stopped and I was only on it for a couple months. I did come off a fairly high dose though. Good thing you did some research because 95% of doctors know absolutely nothing about Suboxone or Subutex. I paid an outpatient addiction specialist $3,000 out of pocket and he said I would be over the withdrawls in five days. 6 weeks later of still having severe withdrawls I did a simple google search and saw the detox usually lasted 2 months.

Hi Will:) I was taking 2-3: 8 mg pills a day for over a year and the first 3-4 wks where the hardest....I posted it all on here if you go back and read. The sleep is was the hardest thing along with the P.A.W.S. it has been 5 months for me and after 2 mo I was doing good. This drug is TORTURE on your body so I'm happy to hear ur getting off!! Keep it up! Don't fight the sleep....wait tell ur so exhausted you can't stand it walk for 10 mins give yourself an orgazimes (yes I said it no one else does but it helps) and you should have about 10 mins to fall asleep!!

So it has been 5 days without sub. Was taking as I mentioned 1mg or less a day for last 6-8 months.

Is it pretty safe to say that I am not going to experience wd?
