How Long Alprazolam Should Be Taken

I take Alprazolam 0.5 mg three times a days along with other intidepressant drugs like Escitalopram 10 mg and Mirtazapine 15 mg and Ativan 2mg. How long can I take Alprazolam safely as it is said long use of Aplprazolam causes depression.

As I suffer from DEPRESSION and GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER, I have started taking Alprazolam 0.5 mg three times a day along with Ativan 2mg (2 Pills before bed time) along with other drugs - Escitalopram 10 mg after breakfast, Sertaline 50mg after breakfast and dinner, Haloperidol 0.5 mg after breakfast, after lunch and after dinner, Librium 25 mg after breakfast, lunch and dinner,
Lybotryp D.S. (Amitriptyline 25 mg+Chlordiazepoxide 10 mg) after breakfast, lunch and dinner, Mirtazapine 15 mg after lunch and dinner and ALPRAZOLAM 0.5 mg before break fast , lunch and dinner. I have been suffering from DEPRESSION & GAD for ten years after my wife framed me in case of cruelty to her (under Section 498 A) of Indian penal code and I had to spend 19 days in jail. We now live apart - I live alone and my so-called wife lives my son, B.Tech and Senior Executive of Vodafone India Ltd. He erans INR 1,20,000/- per month, has raised a two-storied house and even owns a car. His wife is also a B.Tech in Biomedical Engg, but she has given up her job. My son has a baby daughter whom I have not seen ever since her birth in August 2011. I have spent all my resources to build a modest residential accommodation and for my son's education. My son, vitiated by my so-called wife is antagonistic towards me and never helps me with a one-rupee note. They - the mother and the son duo- became infuriated against me as I did not succumb their pressure to transfer the title of my house and transfer into their bank account whatever money I had. Now she has filed another suit under Section 125 CRPC (Indian) claiming from me maintenance of Rs 12000.00 per month. The suit is pending before the court which, in India, is extremely corrupt and filled with inefficient magistrates and judges owing to RESERVATION System.

I am a retired professor of English and I am 63 years old. I live in extreme hardship with the help of two part-time maid servants, and my monthly income from pension and interest on bank deposits is INR 20,000.00 which is equivalent to USD 345.00.

I have had two famous publications - (1) The Gita in Rhymed English Verse with Full Sanskrit Text and (2) The Twilight Songs. The first book has been appreciably reviewed by eminent national and International journals. Copies of the book can be accessed to in Birtish Library, UK. Profeesor Amir Hussain, Editor, Journal of the American Academy of Religions (JAAR), Loyola University has written to to me that he would be glad to get my book reviewed in Jaar. Oxford Journal of Religion is going to publish an article shortly. The other one is a book which contains 150 poems in English and some essays in English and a few in Bengali. Both the books run over 500 pages.

This is all that I have say for now. I know that I shall not beyond 7-10 years, and as long as I live, I will have to live on medicines. I am also a diabetic. As a poor man my breakfast is made up of 5 biscuits and a cup of milk, I finish my lunch two two handmade breads and a bowlful of vegetables, in the afternoon I take tea with two biscuits and my night meal is made up of two handmade breads and a cup of tomato sauce.

On your advice I have written in as much detail as relevant, and I would be glad if you publish a good article on Alprazolam.
