How Can I Get Subutex Not Suboxone? (Page 8)
(Newest replies first)

I don't know how to go about this as I am shaking and can barely focus, I need help! Please. I fear that my life is going to end from my abuse of opiates. I am currently taking 250 mgs of oxycontin per day. I have a loving fiance and a stepdaughter that I want to be here for. I sit here with cold sweats, and fear going out just because I may make the fearful turn to the meds. Any and all info on how to obtain Subutex would be much appreciated. This wasn't what I wanted my life to be, and I can not let it end this way..Please help me. I am not a religious man but I pray for help as I am at my wits end with this drug.

MISSCRYSTALHEROLD: I know this is old, but I am wondering if you were able to get on Suboxone. And when I switched over, I was on around 65mgs. So I certainly don't think it is necessary to get down to 30mgs. But what IS necessary is to be in real, full-on withdrawal first, or you will be in TROUBLE. Precipitated withdrawals, aka HELL. Anyway, I hope it all worked out for you.

NICOFENCE: I don't care how much of an opioid tolerance someone has, there is no way a person is going to be on 750 mgs of methadone. Not possible. You would be dead. Back when they occasionally gave cancer patients methadone, the MOST would be 250 to 300mgs. And we are talking horrific conditions like terminal bone cancer. I am a 30 year+ opioid addict, and the MOST I was ever on was 150 mgs for about a month. And I was nodding out loaded the whole time and had to reduce my dose to about 110 mgs. I am currently on 85 mgs of tablet methadone, having gone down from 95 mgs. Possibly a typo?

CHER: I am sorry to hear that Subutex/Suboxone did not work for you. It is nothing short of a miracle drug for many people, and is just so-so for others (like me). We are all different, but Suboxone does work for many people, and so does methadone. I am on tablet methadone, and have been able to lower my dose by 10 mgs so far, by decreasing very gradually. I would rather do it this way than to go through another cold turkey detox from my drug of choice. It is working for me and I am happy. Am planning on going down another 5 mgs. in about a week. With the help of Colo MMJ and the occasional Soma or Clonidine, I have been successful so far and have not had to "go back up" to my previous dose. Good luck to you.

Ron, I highly doubt you are taking 750mg of methadone, there is not a place in the u.s that would give u that and most likely would kill you. I've never heard of anyone getting a daily dose of more than 200 mg and those are people who have been on it for years. Nobody will help you because you are not being truthful or you are very uninformed. To to a detox or rehab and be truthful

It does not break the cycle but what is so scary is if you're getting older and I've been on methadone for many years since the seventies, off and on. I've kept on it many times. It's the hardest drug I've ever had to get off. Much harder than the opiates that got me there but Suboxone that is some bulls*** right there, it does nothing for me and it does not help the pain in my older age. I have recently had my fourth knee replacement and getting ready to have 3 disc put back in that have slipped out of my back. I have to have minimal medication and not be on anything of that sort for that kind of surgery. I've already had several incidences since the surgery because of opiate blockage. It is harder if it it's like a torture chamber so my best advice is try to stay away from those two things methadone and Suboxone, any opiate blockers period. You can always go by the 24-hour Weisman detox method. If you got the 20 grand which most of us do not. The whole thing is we get older we get paid we have wrecked her body with opiates and doing things we would never done if we weren't so high. If you can tell me a better way than just detoxing yourself down very slowly and using your strong mind and your strong will it's called getting sick and tired of being sick and tired and you can use minimal pain medication for your pain but as far as trying to keep you off of addiction it's in my DNA all my family are addicts way back. I know I'll always be an addict but I'm at a point to where I can grow it control it to a bare minimum. I'm not saying I get out much I'm not saying my mind works as good as it does when I'm high actually it works better when I'm high because detoxing and being straight after being high for so many years it's like wow I'm losing it but it comes back leaving me I have kicked methadone after being on it for 7 years at a time three times on the county jail floor. I have never needed 6-month inpatient except when I went to prison and yeah they got me sober. I didn't do drugs in prison. I wanted to go home. But there are more drugs in prison than there are on the streets so that was an accomplishment. Just take it one day at a time. Gets sick and tired of being sick and tired and do something about it. Medical marijuana in Colorado does the trick pretty good. Anyway you get to an age and just catches up with you and good luck on your journey, you're going to have a hard one. I could write a book about my hard ones. Almost didn't live through many many times. God's got my back for some reason. I have a mission on this Earth and I will fulfill it.

MISTY: Read what I told "CONCERNED" below. You are either going to have to go to the ER and get some sort of documentation that the Suboxone makes you sick, or you are going to have to go on Suboxone.com and call every doctor on there until you find one that will help you. Explain that you just plain cannot function on Suboxone because of the symptoms it gives you. Or you MAY have to drive to another state. Good luck.

GOOFY: Yep. I have told several people on here to do that. Suboxone.com, and you just put in your zip code. TONS of doctors out there. Apparently though, some people on here are saying they are having a hard time getting Subutex vs. Suboxone. I never did. I already suffered from documented migraines and chronic nausea since before I had bupe, so it wasn't a problem. The whole week that I was on Suboxone, I felt like I was on the edge of hurling the entire time. But maybe it's a state thing, not being able to get Subutex anymore. It wasn't a problem in my state. I have not researched this since I am taking methadone tabs instead of bupe now. But yes, it is really just that easy.

I'm suprised you haven't typed in on your computer"look for suboxone doctors".its that damn easy.I've been on program for awhile now and it can help you immediately.I'm currently switching doctors and that's easy too.by the way,any doctor prescribing suboxone can prescribe subutex.I had a doctor who wouldn't believe I had bad reactions with suboxone vs. subutex.he finally found out I was right by looking on the net.subutex at costco is 4times cheaper than the strips.do this right now.you will get help Monday,I can almost guarantee you.you waited too damn long.it also helps if you can get someone to help you set-up the appointment or just be there while you are.its good,a little emotional support,if you can get it.if not ,just read this post I'm sending you.relax take a couple of deep breaths-in-out - in out- in- out.......piece of cake. ***** Good Luck!!!!!

STRAIGHTFORWARD: The "blocker" doesn't matter. The buprenorphine itself will throw you into precipitated withdrawals, whether the naloxone is in there or not. I know this for many reasons, including personal experience. The only reason that the naloxone is in the Suboxone is to keep people from taking the Bupe intravenously. Many people (including some doctors and pharmacists) are misinformed on this. So, no, you can't still do full agonist opioids while taking Subutex. You have to make sure the opioids are COMPLETELY out of your system, and you are in pretty decent withdrawals before taking Subutex or you will be hurting. BAD. Just like with Suboxone. The only reason I wanted Subutex rather than Suboxone was because the Naloxone exacerbated my pre-existing migraines and chronic nausea. I have no desire to abuse Bupe.

If you took four oxy 80s at once you'd be dead. Get the suboxone, it helps. Only reason you want subutex is so you can still use other drugs cause it doesn't have blocker. Grow up geez, your whinning is getting on my nerves.

CONCERNED: You need to take him to the doctor, hospital or ER and GET DOCUMENTATION. Those symptoms he is having? Get that stuff in writing. The only way they are going to give your husband back the Subutex is if you get those very serious symptoms documented. Describe all those symptoms to the medical professional and stress that this all started with the switch. That you suspect he is having a REACTION TO THE NALOXONE. All this BS with the subutex/suboxone makes me glad I went back to methadone tablets. I had an intolerance to the naloxone, and was miserable the whole week I was on it. My doctor put me on the subutex and the misery went away. I switched over to methadone before all these new rules about subutex. Good luck.

My husband was on 3 subutex a day for 2 years but they passed a new law making it harder for him to still get them hes now on suboxone and is constantly in withdrawal and has bad bad headaches and complains of his heart fluttering and not being able to catch his breathe they say that he has to have an allergic reaction documented by a Dr to be able to get his subutex back. I was wondering if anyone else is going through this because they are telling me its a new law please help i cant stand to see him in this shape and me be so helpless

KRISS: Not sure if you are talking to me, but I can at least give you my experience. I stared off on 100 mgs of methadone, and am currently down to 85mgs. I am on methadone tablets, and I am going down 5 mgs every 6 to 8 weeks. They are 10 mg pills, and I am taking 55 mgs in the morning and 30 mgs in the evening. I make sure I am fully adjusted to the new dose before going down again. So it is actually closer to the 8 weeks. My doctor has prescribed me Clonidine, which is a blood pressure medication that helps with restlessness and anxiety....the "heeby jeebies", skin crawling etc. He has also prescribed me Soma, for back and leg pains. Both of these also help me sleep. I take the Soma as sparingly as possible, as they can be physically addicting. I also have Promethazine for nausea/vomiting. If you are unable to get prescriptions to help with the symptoms, try Nyquil nighttime liquid caps and Benedryl. Those will at least help with some of the symptoms, and will help you sleep. MMJ can help too, if you live in a state where that is feasible. I am in Colorado.

If you are reducing your methadone, go as slowly as you need to, DO NOT rush it. You will end up being sick and using or going back up on the methadone dose, which of course is counterproductive. What I have noticed is I am ok during most of the day, but I am feeling a bit "short" on my meds in the evening; I start yawning and sniffling a bit, and my temperature sensor seems off. Also some leg pain. So I take the prescriptions and bundle up with a blanket on the couch. Since methadone is long acting, I am noticing the peak of feeling bad is about 4 or 5 days in, and after about a week I start feeling a tiny bit better every day. Right now, I am on 85 mgs and have been for about 4 weeks. Still not feeling great in the evenings, but over the next couple of weeks, I expect to adjust. After I have one week of feeling pretty much back to "normal", I will go down to 80 mgs. I don't know if I will be able to completely detox to zero, but right now my goal is just to get down to 35 to 40 mgs by the end of the year. Good luck to you and remember, take it SLOWLY.

Kaylee I have a loved one needing help with this a very similar situation. But they are not doing it to abuse it what so ever! It's just the doctor won't write him subutex. He's even tried letting them know that he will pay for the drug panels himself and get evaluated regularly to prove that they help a lot better than the subs. He has major depression and no one in our state, kentucky, will help him! They think he's trying to abuse them!! They won't even let him talk, they just say noo we don't and won't prescribe them! Not realizing that they are literally saving a life if they just would help him!! I'm worried for him! He gets sick to his stomach, seems like he gets way more hateful and he's just not happy like he was for the 8 months his dealer at the time gave to him. He still try to find morphine..and at times he does, unfortunately. He's only been on suboxone for 2 months, and they are not helping! These doctors don't gaf! They are obviously paid by suboxone sublingual films! That's why it's advertised everywhere! I guess they think where those would help him better, that he's just lying to get them to mix with morphine! No s***, I'm around him 24 7, except when he's at work and then I take the car so he won't feel tempted, yet and not one time did he talk me into having anyone help him with morphine while he was on the subutex! Not once! And he only took 2mg to 4mg of subutex whereas with suboxone he takes 2, so 16mg a day! Help is much needed! His doctor is soo Intimidating that it's hard for him to even keep trying! He's been talking about giving up, and moving out of state to get "real" help! And I'm getting to the point where I can't blame him! I go to every single appointment, I try talking to him, I do everything! He's badly depressed and now feels that there is absolutely no hope at all in him doing better in life! Please help!
