Help Need Infomation About Helping Withdrawals

Here I go. I take 50mg of methadone a day and 2 4 mg of dilaudid every 6 hours for breakthough pain. Well had a bad time. I was just diagnosed with a new painful disease called gout in my hands and feet. Well I am going to be out for 2 days of dilaudid. Will my methadone help me if I start having withdrawals from not having my dilaudid? Only going to be 2 days. I also take ativan 0.5 and phenergan 25mg for nausea. I need to know. Dont want to have a panic attack. Thank you.

Hello, Darlene! How are you doing? Has there been any change?

There is a risk of withdrawal, but we are all different, so there is no way to be certain.

The FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, fever, chills, rebound pain, diarrhea, and depression.

Do you have any idea what has caused your gout? Have you been prescribed any other medications?

There is only one cause of gout and that is high Uric Acid in the blood. I suffer from acute gout attacks and they are extremely painful. Narcotic analgesics won't even touch gout pain. It has been my experience that corticosteroids, mostly prednisone, are the only medications that can truly fend off the pain associated with gouty arthritis.

Also, for the original poster, to prevent gout you could take either allopurinol or urocit-k (potassium citrate) to prevent future attacks. A lot of times gout is simply caused by your diet and you'd be surprised some of the healthy foods that cause it. Any food high in purines can elevate uric acid in your body. These include healthy foods such as beans, broccoli, peanuts, asparagus, and spinach just to name a few.

Some people's kidneys just don't process uric acid properly, like me, which leads to gout AND kidney stones! Yay, two of the most painful things known to mankind.

That’s what made me get off hydromorphone 4mg 3 times a day. I started taking Methadone to get off opioids. It worked like a charm. If you want too get off opioids and stop the madness of trying to look for it every day or going through withdrawals, go to a Methadone clinic and start it. No more withdrawals at all from opioids. Methadone was a lifesaver for me to get off opioids. Mind you it will be hard to come off Methadone also but I’m not worried about coming off of it cause I don’t have too worry about where am I going to find any kind of opioids today. The Methadone takes the withdrawals away. It doesn’t give you that good feeling that opioids do. Methadone doesn’t give you euphoria. It helps you get off the pills that were giving you euphoria. Try it if you want off the pills. 15 years of taking pills and I'm all done from 1 dose of Methadone.

Thank you steve. I am on methadone for my pain. Been on it well over 25 yrs. I do take the dilaudid for breakthrough pain. I was worried bc I was going to be out of it for 2 days and I did not know what would happen to me with out it as this was the first time I was out. And I was starting to panic bc I do have anxiety and have panic attacks and it's not good. I also have lung disease, crps, ra, psoriatic arthritis, neuropathy, nerve pain and chronic fatigue, chronic nausea, chronic pain, on oxygen. I had 2 back surgeries, 1 fusion, 1 deep compression. Now gout in hands & feet. 1 herniated disc is bulging, so that's why I am on this stuff. Plus I died 2 times. My life is no good no more and the way the government is doing people its going to be bad. I have already been cut back bc they would not leave my dr alone before all this. They did not care or know that I existed till now. They have decided who lives and who dies. Just like the holocaust, hitler got rid of the sick and weak. Just not right. It's sad. Government going after the wrong people. You dont hear people dying from their meds. It gives me some sort of life. Without it I am nothing. I cant do anything. Cant even get out of bed due to so much pain. The gov evens lets the terminally ill suffer, thats inhumane. Pain is my best friend. Thanks for the info steve.
