Is there any difference in the generic drug Omeprazole from manufacturer to manufacturer? Specifically ones marked OME 20 by Sandoz vs. MYLAN 6150 by Mylan? Can you take one one day and another one the next day? Ok to mix them? ## There can be some sight variances, but no, they won't be anything that will cause any problems or interactions if you took them like that. Learn more Omeprazole details here. the difference in cr cap and ec caps of omeprazole ## Both of those are just abbreviations that designate them as being time released products, so there is no real difference. The CR stands for controlled release and the EC stands for extended control. Learn more Omeprazole details here. It would be much easier if there was just one standardized designation, such as ER or XR, but there isn't. There are several that can be used and the manufacturer is free to use whichever one their whim led them to pick. Is there anything else I can help with?
Is Pantoprazole sod dr 40 mg the same drug as Nexium 40 mg? My husband was given Nexium samples by the doctor but was prescribed the Pantoprazole. Thank you ## Hi Barb, From what I could gather, they appear to be completely different drugs that are used for similar purposes. My guess is that the doctor wanted him to sample the Nexium to see if he responded better to one or the other. Nexium contains the active ingredient Esomeprazole & Pantoprazole happens to be the active ingredient in and of itself; but both are classified as proton pump inhibitors. I hope this info helps to shed some light on the subject!
Hi. I have been on omeprazole and 600 mg of ibuprofen daily for at least 8 months. I have now had a new knee replacement 3 months ago and I have stopped taking both of these drugs, but now have dreadful indigestion and heartburn. I refuse to take omeprazole ever again. I also take a probiotic. Would it be a good idea to take a Zantac and see if that helps? I also have haemochromatosis. ## If you were taking the Omeprazole for 8 months, then abruptly stopped taking it, it is highly likely that part of your problem is due to a rebound effect. This may be causing you to overproduce stomach acid now. What's most likely happened is that your body became reliant on the drug to suppress the amount of acid produce by the stomach and now, it suddenly has to readjust to no longer having it an...

I Havent seen Pepcid on the shelf Of any of the stores that I visit . Do you know why? ## It appears that there were certain lots of the brand name product that was recalled due to some of the bottles being punctured during the manufacturing process. There is a generic available, as most stores, that is called Famotidine, it is the active ingredient in Pepcid and therefore works the same. Have you tried it? I use the generic/store brand and it works fine. ## It appears the recall was back in early August. It's surprising Pepcid was just taken off the shelves of our local WalMart (Las Cruces, NM), a couple of days ago. We agree with Verwon--the generic, famotidine, works fine. Doesn't taste as good, but solves the problem. ## Will Pepcid AC be available in Las Cruces NM in the ne...
Does Prilosec interfere with the effectiveness of Nitrofur-macr because of the ingredient magnesium searate? ## Hi Janie, Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between Nitro Macro (Nitrofurantoin) and Prilosec (Omeprazole). This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. With that said, because I am not a doctor, the most I can tell you is that from what I've read, these two medications are regarded as being safe to take together and shouldn't present any problems outside of the normal side effects associated with each medication. Have either of these medications not been working as well?
I can't find this pill anywhere in any database. What is this pill anyone know? It is small in size, probably 40mg. It is pink colored and round shaped. It has an imprint on only one side L141. Please help me with an answer. Thank you. ## I cannot find this listed anywhere, either. The probable reason for this is that most pills with the L followed by additional numbers are over the counter products. I've tried every resource that I can think of and am just not finding it. Does anyone else know what this is? ## I believe this is Femotidine, which helps with various stomach acid issues. ## Pyra is correct. I have a bottle of L141 It is Kroger brand Famotidine, 10mg, which is a stomach acid reducer (brand name: Pepcid AC) ## Thanks for your help guys! I was stumped on this one :P ...

i m male 33, i am taking ocid20 in the morning to cure acidity but whenever i try to discountiniue the medicine, acidity returned with more intensity. ## How long have you been taking it? If it's been a long period of time, then it's likely that your body has gotten used to having this medication to help control the acid levels in your stomach. So, if you suddenly stop taking it, you end up producing far too much acid, because your body has gotten used to relying on the medication. Learn more Omeprazole details here.
My dr. had me on a 40mg prescription of zegerid... when it went OTC my insurance company said it would no longer cover my prescription and recommended alternatives. I began taking 2 20mg zegerid daily instead... Is there any health risk to the additional sodium bicarbonate? or other concern? ## You really just have to keep in mind that pretty much every drug poses some sort of risk in the form of side effects. In my opinion the additional sodium bicarbonate shouldn't be much of an issue or any issue at all if the dose is small. Some side effects that you might expect after having too much sodium bicarbonate are: • increased thirst • stomach cramps • gas • severe headache • nausea â€&...
I have been taking omeprazole 20 mg daily for at least 5 years because of GERD. Starting this past January I have had loose stools and my GP attributes it possibly to the omeprezole. As a result he changed me to ranitidine 150 twice daily. This medication does nothing for my GERD. I have gotten to a point that I would rather have the loose stools than the GERD problem. I go back to my GP next week. Any comments? ## Not all medications are effective for everyone that takes them, which is why there are usually several medications available in any given treatment class. I had gastritis and frequently have issues with GERD now, but when I tried the Omeprazole, it made my stomach pain worse. I tried the Ranitidine and it did nothing, but Famotidine/Pepcid finally turned out to be the one tha...
