Harvoni Side Effects (Page 27)

I have been taking Harvoni for 3 months now and am having nerve pain in my legs and lower back pain. Is anyone else taking Harvoni having any of these same side effects as me? Please help if you are able. Thank you
I know someone else who took the full course of Harvoni and it didn't cure him. He didn't have any side effects while on Harvoni.
NEW DAY: Wait, I'm a little confused....so you took the Harvoni and it didn't get rid of the HepC? And I agree, I certainly wish you could pass out some free Harvoni to me!! Hell, even reasonably priced Harvoni! A thousand dollars a pill just completely blows my mind.
MARI: I knew two people who started the Interferon treatment. They both stopped taking it because the side effects were just so HORRIBLE, they couldn't even function while on it. One ended up dying because of HepC, and the other still has HepC and is in the hospital with cirrhosis. She will probably die from HepC too. This Harvoni thing really is a prime example of the haves and have-nots.
keep taking it. it works and then u will feel better as your liver gets better. u can stick it out for a few more weeks. in life there is pain, get that treated too1! one day at a time. keep happy thoughts and stop the bad thoughts. mental is part of it to.
new day, it wasnt for u just in general.
Hi there,
If you are sending that " don't jump all over me" referenceing me I am not going to jump all over anyone. Only disturbed at the lack of transparency at the medical community. We are not here to compare only to share.
I am happy for all of the people for whom Harvoni worked, I only hope it didn't do any damage to those of us that it didn't that's all. I have never had pains in my liver and all of a sudden o get stabbing pain probably the virus coming back to replicate what the 2 wks rid from. We take it one day at a time, each one of us is different. My only wish is that when pts come in with complaints they are not minimized or treated like they are crazy heck we wanted this to work more then the docs it's our body.
Best wishes for healing to everyone.
i also have pain in my feet. it is like the commercials for diabetes. nerve damage it what they say and have a new drug for it. but we all know if u have liver problems that every new drug out there will cause even death with a lot of side effects.I dont really take many drugs to stop my liver from over working. They said i have a liver of a 95 year old. 8 years ago and i am still here. interferon was bad Harvoni work great for me. i have to ask, are u taking pain meds? u most likely should. take care of your troubles now and don't worry about getting addicted. it will help in your body as a whole will feel better. try it once or twice and see if it helps. enjoy the time u have when u feel good. don't waste your life for others. u make the best u can do to have a happy life. the only one u get. Now dont jump all over me for my opinion . :)
I am amazed like others that we get blamed or told we are crazy when or if we get an apt. The majority of ppl probably do tolerate this but some of us (myself being one) live in chronic pain and are unable to walk much or exercise. I found my drug of choice and that was exercise. Through the yrs that along with some bad docs and I am not able to exercise the pain away.
We are back to square 1. Docs not validating the 1% who are unable to tolerate this med for whatever reason. It's almost like there is a conspiracy to protect this drug company at all costs there has to be a financial incentive we are not i****s. Yep it's to bad I can't give the med that my doc is stockpiling at their office to the ppl who's insurance co will not pay. I wonder to where has the med gone? I sure didn't receive it. Be honest have ANY of you had your docs office get the med delivered to them? It was biz as usual and they look at me like I am some kind of nut. It was 2 wks of hell and I was told it couldn't be the drug. Just be prepared if you have sides they will blame something anything but this med. After all the suffering I wish it worked now I am itchy all over probably the virus coming back. Disgusted!
Jamie, If you read the posts on this site and on the American Liver Foundation's site, you'll observe that many people have, had side effects and they are all similar in their nature. There are also many posts regarding problems after stopping Harvoni (even when they are cured). I didn't have many symptoms when I had Hep C. Maybe just tired but that's about it.
Sorry you had to experience that it seems you have been through a very rough time with the hepatitis C. There should be an evaluation and there probably will be in the future. Perhaps if the liver is damaged prior to Harvoni it's more difficult to endure the treatment. Or perhaps some people may have a reaction to something in the medication. Hope your health improves and you feel better.
u know u have hep c right? that could be the problem. effect from the illness good luck
sorry to her u are having such troubles. i went the same way . the first treatment almost killed me with the side effects. it was cured for two weeks and then it went very high after that. then it was hell but the Harvoni worked great for me. headache for the first 10 mins and that is it, i did get very thirsty. cured and feeling better nd i wa on my way out. i dont think it is the new drug that is making feel like crap but it might be some underlining cause that could
be making u feel this way. i know u are telling the truth but check some other cause.
Mari - I was on interferon twice. Although it was difficult, Harvoni was much, much more difficult to endure. I think this is partially due to the fact that the medical community offered me lots of support while I was Interferon and Ribaviron. They told me wha to expect and encouraged me to seek help and attention when I had problems. As we all know, most doctors offer little or no support for Harvoni patients. I understand they don't know much about the drug but I don't feel that's an excuse for their behavior when I was so sick on Harvoni. I could barely get an appointment to be seen and, when I did, I was told that Harvoni doesn't have side effects! I work in the medical field and have never witnessed or experienced anything like this before. I have had lung surgery and a myriad of illnesses but nothing compared to the six months I was on Harvoni. Further, although I wasn't cured by Interferon, the virus was not present while I was on it. This gave my liver some time to improve and that's when I was taken off of the transplant list. Yes, it reappeared after I was off interferon but the viral load never was as high as it was prior to taking interferon. I know of some people who were cured with interferon.
Harvoni is an easy ride compared to interferon. I don't want to remember what I experience on interferon and I did not even get cured. I in my case I would classify harvoni as being a little uncomfortable since I was somewhat fatigued but it was never terrible for me. Now have a strange feeling on my legs and painin my feet but it's not horrible . I'm still hopefull it will pass. I try to workout regularly and eat well drink a lot of liquids. I am trying to figure out whats up with the foot pain and how to treat it. Good luck to everyone.
i went that way and i only had was a slight headache for the first 1 hr and that was it. i did gt very thirsty. but that was it. any other pain , well it could just be your liver is because the pain. with me , i also had pain and i continued to take Methadone for the pain. well got cured from hepc and feeling better, like my liver is regenerating itself to give me some energy and less pain but still chronic pain that i need to control with Methadone. all said is it is going better and one thing is you have to find things to do then to think about your pain all the time. learn to put it in the back of your mind. i know that when i find a position that i have no pain, i try not to move from that position and enjoy being pain free. but a lot u have to control with your mind. and stay away from others like you. u dont need to live other person pain habits. . good luck. i know what i say is had but it is a hard life being in pain and no one to understand you. old white men that are DR have the most compassion to pain. they have it themselves and their parents too. they have feelings for relief of pain.
Here's a thought on the price gouging. Maybe they need to rake it in now, before we all catch on to the terrible effects it has on our bodies, and sales plummet. Or before they get hit with litigation.
ROBBIE: Not sure what you are asking. Are you wanting to know why someone would be on Subutex? Subutex is a partial agonist/partial antagonist opioid that is usually prescribed to combat opioid addiction, much like methadone is. Since many people contract HepC because of contaminated needles used for injecting other opioids, maybe the two are related in the case of your cousin? Don't know.
NEW DAY: A thousand a pill is a complete joke. The pharma execs must be laughing their asses off. Hell, they could even charge $100 a pill, and make it up in volume of sales. And at that price, insurance companies would be much more likely to pay for the treatment. Unreal. When I heard it was $1000 a pill, I was stunned!
I was so sick while I was on Harvoni that I think I would have died if I had any alcohol while on treatment. In fact, I can't imagine having anything to drink with Hep C. It will only further harm your liver
I got hepc in 1986 from a blood transfusion after surgery. I had elevated liver enzymes but no cirosis or even fibrosis. I drank alcohol almost daily at times and never had any bad liver problems. It's different for everyone thou. I took harvoni and have had bad side effects and strangely enough can't drink alcohol now at all, it makes me feel terrible. What is up with that. After 6 months out. wow
