Harvoni Side Effects (Page 24) (Top voted first)

I have been taking Harvoni for 3 months now and am having nerve pain in my legs and lower back pain. Is anyone else taking Harvoni having any of these same side effects as me? Please help if you are able. Thank you

sorry to her u are having such troubles. i went the same way . the first treatment almost killed me with the side effects. it was cured for two weeks and then it went very high after that. then it was hell but the Harvoni worked great for me. headache for the first 10 mins and that is it, i did get very thirsty. cured and feeling better nd i wa on my way out. i dont think it is the new drug that is making feel like crap but it might be some underlining cause that could
be making u feel this way. i know u are telling the truth but check some other cause.

u know u have hep c right? that could be the problem. effect from the illness good luck

Sorry you had to experience that it seems you have been through a very rough time with the hepatitis C. There should be an evaluation and there probably will be in the future. Perhaps if the liver is damaged prior to Harvoni it's more difficult to endure the treatment. Or perhaps some people may have a reaction to something in the medication. Hope your health improves and you feel better.

Jamie, If you read the posts on this site and on the American Liver Foundation's site, you'll observe that many people have, had side effects and they are all similar in their nature. There are also many posts regarding problems after stopping Harvoni (even when they are cured). I didn't have many symptoms when I had Hep C. Maybe just tired but that's about it.

I am amazed like others that we get blamed or told we are crazy when or if we get an apt. The majority of ppl probably do tolerate this but some of us (myself being one) live in chronic pain and are unable to walk much or exercise. I found my drug of choice and that was exercise. Through the yrs that along with some bad docs and I am not able to exercise the pain away.
We are back to square 1. Docs not validating the 1% who are unable to tolerate this med for whatever reason. It's almost like there is a conspiracy to protect this drug company at all costs there has to be a financial incentive we are not i****s. Yep it's to bad I can't give the med that my doc is stockpiling at their office to the ppl who's insurance co will not pay. I wonder to where has the med gone? I sure didn't receive it. Be honest have ANY of you had your docs office get the med delivered to them? It was biz as usual and they look at me like I am some kind of nut. It was 2 wks of hell and I was told it couldn't be the drug. Just be prepared if you have sides they will blame something anything but this med. After all the suffering I wish it worked now I am itchy all over probably the virus coming back. Disgusted!

i also have pain in my feet. it is like the commercials for diabetes. nerve damage it what they say and have a new drug for it. but we all know if u have liver problems that every new drug out there will cause even death with a lot of side effects.I dont really take many drugs to stop my liver from over working. They said i have a liver of a 95 year old. 8 years ago and i am still here. interferon was bad Harvoni work great for me. i have to ask, are u taking pain meds? u most likely should. take care of your troubles now and don't worry about getting addicted. it will help in your body as a whole will feel better. try it once or twice and see if it helps. enjoy the time u have when u feel good. don't waste your life for others. u make the best u can do to have a happy life. the only one u get. Now dont jump all over me for my opinion . :)

MARI: I knew two people who started the Interferon treatment. They both stopped taking it because the side effects were just so HORRIBLE, they couldn't even function while on it. One ended up dying because of HepC, and the other still has HepC and is in the hospital with cirrhosis. She will probably die from HepC too. This Harvoni thing really is a prime example of the haves and have-nots.

NEW DAY: Wait, I'm a little confused....so you took the Harvoni and it didn't get rid of the HepC? And I agree, I certainly wish you could pass out some free Harvoni to me!! Hell, even reasonably priced Harvoni! A thousand dollars a pill just completely blows my mind.

The VA hospital give it out (9.00 co pay per month for the few months that is needed. I couldn't have gotten it otherwise. it still cost the VA 600-800 a pill themselves . it works 96-98 % of the time . i was lucky. good since Dec 22 2015but still have the effects of cirrhosis. Pain not eating which they now allow a drug that has THC in it but they took out the pleasure pat but makes u hungry.

i had those things before i started the drug so it didn't cause it but the liver was the trouble. pain meds will help. tell them that is what u need i never ask , i tell them what works and u have to be telling the truth. plus i am an o older white male that matters with Dr nowadays.

KMH totally understand your frustration with this. India would not grant Gilead a patent on Harvoni so treatment is $300 there. The 2 drugs that make up Harvoni are not new and much of the research was underwritten by NIH so India didn't think it deserved a patent.
Try contacting Acaria Pharmacy. They are who supplied my Harvoni and were able to get me assistance within 30 minutes. Maybe your Dr can contact them on your behalf. A friend of mine had the same Dr as me and also got the assistance.

I had some pretty bad side effects from the Harvoni but I'm starting to get it out of my system after 6 months off. Feeling better and hopeful that I will continue to improve.

I am 16 months post treatment with Harvoni. I also had the liver doctor discount any suggestions that I was sick from Harvoni during my treatment. I had leg cramping that moved to my feet. I live with bad foot pain to this day. It took months for my brain fog to disappear and I will never be the same. I am fatigued and worn out. I was on the medication long before anyone was writing about side effects on the forums. I am glad because I might have been more frightened!! I have had no follow up from that Liver doctor and he just emails me on my chart when it's time to retest again. I made it clear for a year and will be tested at two years out next. I still have upper right quadrant pain and had Hep C for 40 years and never knew it till I started having liver area pain.

Why is your doctor still testing you for Hep C? I assumed that Harvoni cured you of the virus. I'm very sorry that you are suffering from taking Harvoni. Many of us are trying to support one another and we hope, someday, we will be well.

That's correct. I hate to even read about this drug that 2 wks I was on it was two of the longest wks in my life. I can't imagine why the doc wanted to " treat" it when I had no symptoms.

Now I continue to keep an eye on my liver like I have done the last 30 yrs. this is very strong med and we all react differently. If only the docs were more honest and forthcoming. Big pharma pushing this on everyone with ridiculous prices. That should tell us something. I am still angry about what I unnecessary went through for nothing.

Jane I am doing what they request. I am sure since I started treatment in Dec 2014 that they are following up on if the undetected status holds long term.

They say that if you are clear at one year the virus is undetected. Why not ASK why the doc is testing you after one year. Has there been reports of the virus coming back? Are you using drugs? There has t be a reason. People speak up, ASK your Doctor questions they don't know as much about this drug as you might think it's only been around 2 years if that.
