How Long Does Methadone Stay In Your System? (Page 12)

Is Methadone completely out of your system in 72 hours, or does it take longer? Since Methadone seems to last longer that 4 - 6 hours, I was just wondering?

I know how you feel. The doctors want to look at us like we are the problem but really, and I'm a former officer, let me say without prescription drug abuse pharmaceutical companies, doctors, dea and others would be begging for real work like they have now so, I understand and agree with you. See people who have never had to use them they wanna judge others I was the same way but I remember ever night walking out the office WITHOUT THESE DRUG USERS WE WOULDN'T BE IN BUSINESS AND WE WOULD BE JUST LIKE THEM! So yes you are right!! I've been clean for 4 years now but it don't matter you see you will never be clean again to "people" who only see the addiction.

wish I had known that 14 months ago...it's wasn't til I was in the clinic to kick the pill habit that I found out methadone was worse...now I'm coming off the methadone and I have 5 kids...anything at all help?

the methadone takes longer than the oxy to get out of your system. The oxy is a opiate but the methadone is not. It is a waist of money to take them together because methadone is a opiate blocker. In other words the methadone keeps you from feeling the effect of oxy.

i jumped off 120mgs preg. with bub and was fine in 3 month i means ,it was hard but i did it ,i call it my tour of duty i did ,hardcore but if it 20 mgs i think u could jump heaps easier and if you took it for pain like me you could use Tramadol...u know what mean ....get off it if you can and dont use!!!!!

I I was born on meth and have been a drug addict for the last 12 years of my life for the last four I was hooked on pills percocet oxicotton anything I could get my hands on and I was told that methadone be the perfect way to kick then I was at the methadone clinic for a year on 75 milligrams a day I quit cold turkey it was the worst withdrawal my life that I've ever experienced this stuff is the devil that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens strengthens you today I'm 42 days clean and sober praise the living God don't let them fool you and make you believe that you need that stuff never trust in the word of man

Your fine because you haven't even started withdrawal yet, methadone has a really long half life( that's why they use it for treatment) so you will get sick, and you will stay sick for quite some time. Sorry for the bad news but don't think its over, it hasn't yet begun

i did jump off and my doc said it is definitely out of system in a week, its been 10 days now. i was on 130 then reduced to 20mg then jumped. i have been heaps active and i think that a good healthy mind frame makes such a difference!! ive been put on half a catapres (clonidine) at night to help with sweats or cramps and i take magnesium. i only take this for a while (catapres).. now on tramal 100s 2x day plus just for a while tramadol 50s when in need for pain and its working a treat i got a screwed back and had 2 tumor opps on the back of my neck and this my friends is working, thank f*** cause done is great if u need to stop using but i dont believe they should give it to people in pain but hey im off...IM OFFF!!! f*** yes. whoa hoo .this rocks NO MORE LIQUID HAND CUFFS - DO IT!!!

not everyone has the same reaction to drugs my husband has been on and off of it a few times with different medications for his disability and had no withdrawals everybody's body makeup is different

I had the same effect with suboxen and subutex that you describe about Methadone, while Methadone helped me out much better than suboxen and as I descreased my dosage down to zero, the withdrawal effects were NONE when taking Methadone, I also never went about 50mg a day and took it in liquid form , ONCE a day, and weened myself off of it in 1.25 years i.e. 15 months, last week went from 10 mg to zero on my last day, but before Methadone I tried suboxen and got extremely sick and ill effects that I could not take it, so I think its a person to person case with suboxen vs methadone.

I have been on 10mg of methadone for approximately 1 year off and on
I weight 250 lbs and I am 5 ft 10 in. I am pretty active and I want to come off of it and pass a drug yest. Does anyone think it'll be out of my system in 10 to 12 days ?

I am 3 weeks clean off methadone and it's the best decision I think I have ever made in my life! I was on for almost 3 years. When I was at 160 mg I decided to start coming down, which was about a year and a half into it. I went down 2 mg a week and I tell you what, it was a rough struggle. I stayed sick more in the mornings before dosing than I did being stable. Once I got to about 70 mg and below, it got so much easier in the mornings before dosing. Then, I got to about 30 mg and my energy was depleted tremendously. I still stuck with it and got down to 0 mg. I am 3 weeks clean and I feel marvelous! I withdrew for the first week and a half really bad, including stomach cramps, restless legs, sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose, and the worst of all no energy what so ever. But I tell you its the best thing ever because I am so much happier! I actually can laugh now, my senses are back, I dream now, I'm more aware of everything, it's so crazy how evil that drug is and you don't realize it until you get off. Despite all the weird withdrawals you go through, you tell yourself "oh well." I got over the counter medication for sinuses, gas, nausea, whatever it is that I needed. Trust me, I still feel bad and wake up in the middle of the night but I am so much happier! I take a vitamin and B 12 every morning and it's my best friend. I promise you can get through it, I did! Stay strong and don't take any opiates to cover up the methadone withdrawals, it defeats the purpose. I had to work full time and there were times i wanted to take something for the pain of withdrawals, but your mind is what controls everything and you just stick with it.Good luck!

I completely agree, it's a living HELL! I'll never forget it as long as I live, and it doesn't take long to get hooked either. Even after the worst of it, there's still times weeks later that your bones ache from it still coming out of your bones! It's just not worth it at all, so please if anyone lies to you and says it's the best thing because it's cheaper, it maybe money wise, but the price you pay later is unbelievable !!!

I absolutely agree with taking suboxone . I was on methadone for three years and when I kicked, it truly was the worst. I would have rather died. Ive been clean for two and a half years, well on suboxone, which i call clean, compared to methadone. But im happier than ever.

I completely agree I was referred to the methadone clinic to get off of hydrocodone 10. I am a double amputee. Then I was prescribed xanax for the anxiety when I was kicking the hydros. after several years a friend of mine gave me a sip of methadone because he saw me with drawing so hard. well, let me tell you it really isn't that hard. I say this because it's not easy, but I have been taking methadone for about 3 months on and off here and there and one night I just decided to taper off of that back to the hydros of all things. I'll tell you what, methadone withdrawal ain't no joke. the consequences are almost irreversible. Your willpower is gone your soul is going going and can be gone. believe have faith fight for your life a year will pass and you will love overcome. you felt the greatest high in the world. Now, lay in the worst feeling in the world but come out 10 times stronger. to all my brothers and sisters. One love and I pray that you all have the strength and that you have someone that can understand and support you.
