High Blood Pressure Savella (Page 2)

I JUST BEGAN THE NEW PRESCRIPTION DRUG FOR FIBROMYALGIA THIS WEEK CALLED SAVELLA IN PILL FORM. MY BLOOD PRESSURE HAS RISEN FROM AN AVERAGE OF 122/70 TO 155/85. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM? WILL IT REGULATE BACK DOWN AFTER BODY ADJUSTS. OTHERWISE SURE FEEL A WHOLE LOT BETTER THEN WHEN ON CYMBALTA FOR SAME DISEASE.
COULD IT BE A WITHDRAWAL EFFECT FROM THE CYMBALTA? I WENT OFF THAT 24 HOURS BEFORE STARTING SAVELLA. HEADACHES, JITTERY, HYPER WERE NOTICED IMMEDIATELY, THAT IS GETTING BETTER EACH DAY.

I posted a couple of months ago when I first came off of Sevella. It did wonders for my fibromyalgia but the side efftects were horrible. Not only did my blood pressure rise dramatically, but I had headaches, blurred vision and severe constipation. It took about 6 weeks for my blood pressure and headaches to go away after coming off of it. I was on it for 7 weeks and my body never adjusted. I am glad I stopped taking it. However, the fibromyalgia returned with a vengence. I am now trying Lyrica. We will see how that does.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in Dec. 2010 and was prescribed Savella. The only thing the Rheumatologist told me was that I could experience some nausea and sweating. I, unfortunately, have experienced much worse side effects, especially increased BP and heart rate. My blood pressure was typically 120/80 and heart rate in the 70's. Now after a couple of months on Savella my BP is 140/100 and my heart rate between 90 and 100. I felt so awful I decided to wean off of Savella and after almost 2 weeks, my BP and heart rate are still high. The withdrawal symptoms are horrible. I feel like I have the flu and the Fibro pain came back with a vengence. Savella did help with the Fibro pain but the nausea, extreme sweating, increased BP and heart rate are just not worth it. My PC will most likely put me on BP meds when I check back in with him. He told me he has another patient that had been prescribed Savella and was having the same problem with BP and heart rate and in addition she is diabetic and it was increasing her blood sugar. I think this drug should be taken off the market; it's dangerous. I hope I don't have high blood pressure forever as a result of taking this drug.

I was on savella for almost a year for fibromyalgia. My heartbeat and blood pressure both went up. I was on two blood pressure medications. After going off Savella, my heartbeat returned to normal right away. It took a few months for blood pressure to normalize. I'm now off any blood pressure medication.

I stop taking Savella several weeks ago and this week was the first time my BP was back down to where it was before I started it.

No it's not a side effect from taking Cymbalta unfortunately. It is cause from the Savella. My doctor put me on Savella for chronic pain & it worked great but it caused me to have high blood pressure, so he took me off & tried me on Cymbalta (which didn't help at all) but I continue to take blood pressure meds. but wanting to find out if I can take the Savella & control my blood pressure!

I have had severe migraines all my life. Have been on 14 different preventive medications, done physical therapy for my neck, eat a healthy diet, don't smoke or drink alcohol. My doctor prescribed Savella and although my blood pressure, heart rate and blood sugar have been normal all my life, they are all elevated now to 150/100, pulse 90 and fasting glucose 119. I am weaning off the drug and have been off it completely now for a week, but blood pressure is as high as ever. When might it come down, and is there a possibility that it might never come down. I am very concerned.

I had normal blood pressure and pulse. I went on Savella for fibromyalgia and blood pressure and pulse both went up. I went on two blood pressure medications. I went off savella and everything normalized after a couple of months. I'm off blood pressure medications now. However, we do have to understand that different people respond differently.

My blood pressure has increased in the same way since taking small amount of Savella for fibromyalgia. Will discuss with my PCP next week.

I went off of the Sevella becasue of the blood pressure problems like yours plus rapid pluse and hard heart beating..I took it for about a month..I quit a little at a time under Dr. orders and went on blood presure med. I felt great on SEvella but could not take it.

I am surprised your physican allowed you to just STOP the cymbalta and then begin the Sevellla. I was on Effexor XR (high dose) and we weaned off at 4 weeks. Left 4 days with nothing and then began the Tri Pak. I must say though even doing it that way my blood pressure (which I take medication for already) SHOT up. Dizziness and sweating. No nausea however. I have been extremely 'mental' as well. I am beginning week 3 of the Seavilla today and if things are not improving by Thursday will call dr. for an alternative

i am on savella for severs fm an noticing my blood pressure is creepin up it is usually 90 over 50 an 100 over 60. having severe sweats an bad horrible headaches . how do u decrease off it an u shouldnt have to take one med that will cause u to have to take another because of it. will my blood pressure go back down . please does anyone know an why dont doctors tell u bout this

When I went off Savella my blood pressure and pulse gradually went down to previous readings. My DR. put me on two blood pressure meds and they didn't help much. For some reason, when blood pressure is artificially elevated from a med, it seems harder to control with other meds. I'm now off blood pressure meds and my blood pressure and pulse have normalized.

Anyoneelse experiance high blood sugar with Savella- never had before. Is good for my pain and enrgy but does this ever normalize?

Had hypertension before starting Savella, but it was stable with Ramipril. After less than two weeks on Savella I was experiencing many side-effects, so many that my Dr. said not to take any more of it. It's been three weeks since I stopped taking it and my blood pressure is very high and won't respond to my usual dose of Ramipril. I'm very disappointed that it didn't help me and dismayed that it has caused my blood pressure to become unstable. This medication does more harm then good and in my opinion should be pulled off the market.

I took Savella for over a year working up to 200mg daily. My blood pressure went steadly up and at last test was 178/105. I've been off Savella for almost six months and stll have this problem and from what I've read on Savella side effects they say high blood pressure side effect might be perminant and never go away!

I have been on Savella for a few months now, and my BP at its highest was 170 over ? ( I forgot the bottom number, sorry) , my heart rate is well into 120BPM, I have killer headaches, and my ears are ringing so loud it sounds like someone set off cheap fireworks near my ears.
The BP and high heart rate wont, I repeat, WONT go down or stop. I wouldn't wish these side effects on Satan.
Going to see doctor next week and get the hell off this poison.

I am taking Savella and my blood pressure has gradually been rising. When I saw the doctor on Friday it was 198/98. My doctor started me on a low dose blood pressure medicine and my blood pressure has decreased to 116/69. One of the side effects of Savella is high blood pressure. The Savella is working great for my Fibromyalgia. The initial side effect of sweating completely disappeared after about 6 weeks of when I started taking it. I was previously taking Cymbalta but had to stop due to severe abdominal pain.

Hi. Thee Ox here.I got off Satanvella awhile ago. My bp and heart rate are NORMAL!!

People: PLEASE - - - GET OFF THIS NO GOOD ROTTEN DRUG NOW!! YOUR LIFE IS IN DANGER.

I regained my life back after going off this Devil Drug. It's time for you to do the same.

I took Savella for over 2 years. Was great for my fibromyalgia at first. Unfortunately I experienced a good 90% of the side effects. My BP went from 115/70 to 180/115. I caught it right on time. My Dr, said I was lucky I didn't have a stroke. I stopped it 2months ago, had a mild stroke last week and not sure if it relates. I decided to go without any med. Hard to do but I prefer it since it is less risky.
