I am currently suppose to take 3 8mg.films a day ive been weining myself down I only take 1 film now.i start the methadone clinic Thursday should I not take anything wed.and will I go into any withdrawls.
I was stuck on methadone for 13 yrs, Big mistake if you stop Sub's to go on Methadone. If you do go on Methadone, plan on being on it for many years or life. Suboxone is the best way to go. Monthly supply. Methadone, you have to go every day and earn take homes. I'm lucky to be alive because of Methadone. Very addicting, can't even go 1 day without it. Its just a money making legal way to sell hard core narcotics.
Good luck whatever you choose. Read up real closely before choosing Methadone. Nobody told me anything, they just got me hooked and alls I took was a couple vicodins once in a while. Totally ruined my life.
Same for me. Now Ive been at the clinic for 10 years and I dont see a way out. Im too deathly afraid of withdrawls.
DO NOT Under any circumstances go on methadone. It is impossible to get off of it. You have to report to the clinic every day. We call them liquid handcuffs for a reason

I take offense to your characterization that "We call them liquid handcuffs". Is methadone a first line option for opiate addiction?? DEFINITELY NOT but for whom all else fails and no other REASONABLE options exist then yes it is a valid and medically indicated treatment. Recovery is possible with MMT for those highly motivated and compelled to adhere to the stringiest regulatory mandates IT IS.. I am on a stable daily dose of METHADONE TABLETS through my clinic. I have had a waiver and been LIQUID HANDCUFF free for 17 years. Please do not proffer erroneous outdated information. THAT MORE THEN METHADONE MT CAN BE DEADLY. When someone can be treated just like any other disease (ie: Diabetes) with a measured dose from the comfort of their home where once a month clinic visits are common place certainly doesn't deserve to be refereed to as liquid handcuffs. Thank you for your considerations
P.S. PLEASE LETS GET THIS RIGHT. HOW MANY MORE GOOD FOLKS NEED TO DIE BEHIND ARCHAIC OR MISINFORMED INFORMATION CIRCULATED TO THE MASSES.
You can take the methadone the next day if u wanted to..its the other way around you do not want to take methadone then suboxin ..that will throw you into precipitated withdraw..but like I said u can take methadone after u take suboxin.u might feel it the first few days but eventually u will.
You shouldn't (well, rather, I wouldnt) give myself only one day in between the switch. I have come off both Methadone and Suboxone. If there is still traces of Subs in your system and you take any amount of methadone....trust me....you'll want to shoot yourself. Methadone is also psychological. I went from a high dose and stopped cold turkey. Wwll, we psyche ourselves out/out thinking that "omg if I miss a day of my methadone, I'll be sick as a dog." (or vice versa with subs) but both take daaaaays to come out of your system. I personally went to detox literally the same day (different points of my life) when coming off either methadone or subs. Problem was, they kept me for a week or two and would discharge me and THEN I would get home and the withdrawals would REALLY start. Sorry to get off topic. Bottom line, when switching from one to the other (suboxone to methadone or the other way around) its definitely in your best interest (even though it sucks....BELIEVE me I know.....to give yourself a couple/few days in between, and make sure you are in TOTAL withdrawal before switching. If not ....you'll be sicker than you were in the first place.
If you can't take/handle the detox between switching from one to the other (like I said, this ain't my first rodeo), and I am in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM telling you to go get some pills for those few days....but some people have found it easier to switch. Not a great idea, though its been done. Then again if you think that may cause you to get back off the wagon, probably not a great idea for you. Bottom line....if you want to quit, you can. Its hard. Its a b****. I came off 300mgs to methadone to NOTHING cold turkey. Took me 3 months to detox (this I don't recommend.....I literally prayed to end my life....sorry God...lol) but it's true. But you know yourself. If you wanna be done, you'll be done and you'll do it. Again- sorry, off topic.
Bottom line...don't overlap methadone and suboxone. BAD. But suboxone/subutex is no joke either. That was almost as bad of a withdrawal from the methadone (not to scare you)....but true. Don't let them fool you and start taking 8mgs or 16mgs or whatever a day.....if you go to a good doctor who knows what they're doing they will start you off with a quarter of a pill (2mgs) and see how you do WHILE IN THE OFFICE. Not a pain med quack doctor.....because it seems like a little but a little bit of sub lasts a long time. If you feel you need more then take another tiny piece. But pleeaaaaase. Don't let some doctor tell you that you need three 8 mg pills a day. Get the f*** outta there. That's ridiculous. And like I said, I'm 5 foot 3 and was on 300MGS of methadone and was just fine with one a day. Either way.....good luck.
Can someone please tell me why someone would go from Suboxone to Methadone? The whole purpose of the Suboxone when used properly, is to get you off of the Opiod.
We know everything is about the dollar, so why even put yourself and loved ones through the suffering and pain of watching the self destruction. Are we trying to get better or continue getting high "Legally? "
You're exactly right. I have been on methadone for four years now. I was at 169 mgs now i am at 123 and can't seem to go down anymore. I wish i had never got on it but i was on opiates and had to get off so methadone was a quick fix but now i am stuck on methadone, not good.
It is amazing how misinformed every one is about these drugs. Precipitated withdrawal occurs when suboxone is taken too soon after full opioids. The reason for this is because sub pulls the stronger opioid off the brain, and repkaces it with itself. Since it is only a partial agonist, it produces less activity in the receptor, causing withdrawal. Full opiods however, cannot pull sub off the brain receptor. Which is how it "blocks" other opiates, but it certainly doesn't cause wds.
So, in other words, you will NOT get sick if you take opiates after suboxone. Maybe you will be blocked, but not sick. Take sub too soon after full opiates and you will be in agony.
First off you are crazy as hell to stop taking suboxon and start taking methadone. Man you are trading down fast
Where are you located? I know of alot of clinics here in Las Vegas that are really good....
Yea you have to be off it for a day. Before I was on 170ml and cut down to 7 now. It took 15 years. Don't go up too high on your methadone dose. 40 ml is enough but if u have subutex or suboxone in your system the methadone wont work. It will put u into a rattle. All the best. {edited for privacy}
Don’t do it unless you wanna wake up every morning in withdrawal until the pills kick in. I was on it for one month and I mixed it with Xanax, got me impaired for a week. (Don’t mix stuff) but i went back to subutex. Haven’t one withdrawal since.
