Glizide - Can We Cut In A Half?

I am Diabetic type 2 and would like to know if I can cut the Glizide in a half to help reduce my symptoms? I read the prescription and it stated no but the pharmacist still suggested that I cut it in 1/2. Please advise. Thanks.
