Generic For Metanx? (Page 3)

I refilled my Rx for Metanx and it was a different color. I asked and the druggist said this was a generic for Metanx. I refused the Rx and went to another drugstore with my Rx. Am I wrong? Is there a generic for Metanx?
Anyone have any more info on the Vitacirc-B? I have been taking Metanex for several years because I don't absorb B-12 like I am supposed to. Anyway, I have been feeling worn out and have not had much energy for about a month. I got my "Metanex" refilled today and it was Vitacirc-B. Well I looked at the bottle that was refilled last month and it was also Vitacirc-B. I refilled this one on May 14, and have been feeling like I have less energy pretty much since then (I am color blind, btw, so I guess I didn't notice the different pill). I called my pharm. and he said that last month was the first time they had switched me to the generic.
I am taking these back tomorrow and getting actual Metanex. I will post again in a month if my energy picks up.
Hi, I recently was given vitacirc-b instead of metanax as well. I have never taken metanax before, and I just began the vitacirc-b this week. I wasnt told i was getting the generic and I am hoping it works all the same with no side effects- have you noticed any major differences in the 2 medications? or is one just as good as the other?
I have been using Metanax for 2 years now well the first year it was Metanax then went to Folast I have pheriphal Neuropathy my feet and legs hurt so bad I could barely walk I got immediately relief when I started using it. Staring having problems with the pharmacies getting it in so I quit taking it about 2 months ago and I am in so much pain I literally cry from constant burning, freezing legs, back and hips if being off of is why I am 100% worse in the last 3 weeks getting worse everyday I will never stop it again. Finally got filled today again but of course could not get the Metanax or Folast so this time they gave me generic Vitacirc-B I will have to check to see if it's comparable since they didn't tell me that is what I was getting I also have too much Homocystine in my blood which affects the nerves. I pray it helps me as much as the Metanax and Folast did. I guess from reading everyone's else post I'm one of the lucky ones as my insurance does pay for mine of course I have my co-pay which it was $20.56/30 pills, today but I never know what the price is going to be but to get out of this pain and be able to walk again I would gladly pay whatever I do hope the others on here are able to find something for their pain it's a miserable condition to have.
went through Brand Direct for my parents and it has saved them $50 a month..They were paying $92 month, now for a 3 month supply, $144..
Worth checking out, they are very nice and your prescription comes through the mail to you...
Metanx will not have a generic available in 2012 . Several companies offer free drug cards which gives you around 15% discount at pharmacies. Some known ones are ScriptSave, Community Assistance Program usarx.org. However the price may not be great in major areas. These work best in small communities to prevent price gouging.

I have been diabetic for 25+ years. I was having severe neuropathy in feet and ankles. I was taking Lyrica and a prescription for restless leg syndrom and had a difficult time with the side effects. I've been taking Metanx for over a year, am experiencing no side effects and rarely experience the massive pain I was having before. I started talking 2 tablets and day and have dropped to 1 per day, mainly because of the expense. Insurance will not cover Metanx.
Kellie is right. Go to the web sites listed and get the correct information and decide for yourself.
My father has been taking Metanx for well over a year and a half now. My parents are on Soc. Security and Medicare.
They were paying $53.00 (taken twice a day, 60 tabs) until recently it went up to over a $100 , and no their insurance does not cover it and has never, due to Metanx is considered a nutritional supplement.
My father's neurologist (my father has diabetes and Alzheimer's) claimed that a few weeks ago Metanx patent was up and there is a generic supposedly but no pharmacy in my county has it .
There is no generic for metanx. A generic is classified with an AB rating by the FDA. If there is not AB rating than the prescription medication and generic version are not equivalent. I always ask the pharmacist is the generic version is AB rated, if they say no than I do not get the generic. I you get a non AB rated generic than you run the risk of increased side effects and potentially less efficacy. Hope this helps and you did the right thing.
Metanx is a vitamin combination, which contains L-methylfolate, methylcobalamin and pyridoxal 5'-phosphate and yes, there is a generic available that is called Folast.
The generic, however, is just hard to find and many pharmacies don't carry it, which is probably why you've never seen it before.
