Generic For Metanx? (Page 2)

I refilled my Rx for Metanx and it was a different color. I asked and the druggist said this was a generic for Metanx. I refused the Rx and went to another drugstore with my Rx. Am I wrong? Is there a generic for Metanx?

Regarding script savings cards. Our pharmacies will no longer accept them, only their store discount, Wegman's said and it costs $225-243 for 90 days and that is generic. Brand name was $400 for 3 months. I only get social security so it is very expensive to pay for but I need it and it really did help the burning, tingling and numbness and insurance won't pay for nutritional supplements so guess I will try cutting down to 1 a day instead of prescribed 2 a day. It is very frustrating to say the least.

Just an FYI,

This site also offers a free prescription drug savings card that should work with Metanx among many other types of medications.

I don't know how it compares to Brand Direct Health, but in my opinion, the more discounts you have to choose from the better your odds are of saving the most money.

You can have a look at it here: Rx Savings Card

Hope this helps!

Suffered for three years with muscle/large and small bone pain, fatigue, and a feeling of deep depression and weakness. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Went to endocrinologist because of concern over glucose intolerance. He listened to my three year history of failed attempts to diagnose, thousands of $$$ spent, etc. He prescribed the then two month old Metanax. I was 47 at the time but felt 65 with a threat of forced retirement. Within one month my pain was fading. I have Been pain free ever since and the medicine also has given me the energy of a 30 year old WITH no side effects. I still thank him every six months during my check up! I also Join the Brand Direct Health Program for low monthly payments on Metanx prescription in 90 day quantities.

I agree. Brand Health has been terrific. Been dealing with them for about 2 years . Today they told me that the manufacturer raised their price $10 a month - so that the next time I refill the price will be $178 for 180 pills. They are a pleasure to deal with, and this beats the prices I have seen quoted everywhere.

Please believe Kellie. I don't work for the company, and frankly I feel lucky in having found Brand Direct Health on the official Metanx website. See my post on Sept 16th. They have been great to work with. After signing up and getting my first 90 days for $150, they have called me every 90 days to ask if I want a refill. It shows up just a few days later. Fantastic service and the price is $50 a month WITHOUT ANY INSURANCE INVOLVEMENT.

It drives me a little crazy to read someone being asked to pay $90 for Metanx when you can get it from Brand Direct Health for $50.

Metanx has really worked well for me. There is still alot of numbness, but not so much burning which is what drives me crazy.

Metanex is L-methylfolate (fully reacted folate), methylcobalaimin (methylated B12) and P-5-P (coenzymated B6). The forms and doses can be matched at a good health food store for a fraction of the cost of Rx if you don't mind taking a few more (small) tablets per day.

I know what you are talking about. UHC suddently raised the price on me. Then I found Brand Direct Health. They have Metanx for $150 for 90 day supply (2 pills per day). That is without my insurance involved. That is a price I can afford.

Kellie, My insurance UHC is no longer paying for the prescription Metanx and since I have Neuropathy, I have found that Metanx helps me. Now, the Drugstores want over $340.00 for a 90 day supply which I can not afford since I am retired. How can Metanx help me with this cost?

There is now. I have gotten Foltanx for the last two months. Have noticed no difference in effectiveness. It's also nice as my insurance now pays a WHOLE lot more toward it. We're talking a copay of 1/20th vs. Metanx.

This month Rite Aide was not able to fill Vitacirc-B prescription because the product has been discontinued. Has a different generic for Metanx been put on the market?

My insurance company just upped the price of generic to $95 and I can't afford it. I found a place online that sells Metanx (not the generic) for $150 for a three month supply and I take two a day. I have ordered it and should get it in about 7 days, so I'll let you know if everything is all right. I found it on the official Metanx site. The place is named Brand Direct Health.

Here is the link: metanx.com/helpful-resources/discount-programs/

As I say, I'll let you know my experience.

Does anybody know what the inert ingredients (dye, fillers, etc.) are in Vitacirc-B, they are dark pink and I am allergic to Red dye #40. I googled the manu and got nothing good. They were given to me instead of Metanx. I got 3 mos for $180!! Sounds like my insurance did not pay for the dif brand/generic. Metanx is B6,B9,B12. Vita is B6, B12 I think.

I'm dealing with Peripheral Neuropathy. My GP was not very helpful (can't do anything, see you in 6 months) so I went to a podiatrist and he has been great. He explained that there were some recent studies that indicate that if you aren't diabetic and no physical trauma then it is likely that Peripheral Neuropathy comes from an inability to absorb Vitamin B.

He said there are three treatments, a cheap one (never named it but said it didn't work very well), a medium one (Vitacirc-B) and an expensive one (Metanx). He didn't position Vitacirc-B as a generic to Metanx but as a lower cost alternative. We are starting on Vitacirc-B for 6 weeks. He says it will take that long to see a difference and he said for the first while it will be very up and down. If it works, lots of nerves that haven't been working will start to again and that causes an increase in feeling, but to hang in there.

I see him in 6 weeks to decide whether to continue with Vitacirc-B or to switch and try Metanx.

I'm only 4 days in so I can't really report any results yet.

hows it going on the generic Metanx from Walgreens? My 82 yr old mother has been on Metanx for a long time but its becoming cost prohibitive and Walgreens recommended trying the generic...what's your experience been so far?

Walgreen pharmacist advised me that VITACIRC-B and METANX are identical, a prescription vitamin I'm starting to take for peripheral neuropathy. I paid $93 for 60 tablets, having no insurance for drugs. Will post results down the road - and now keeping my fingers crossed!
