Generic Subutex/buprenorphine. Ranking From Best To Worst. (Page 4)
(Newest replies first)
Updated
This is for people who actually take Subutex for the intended purpose for which it is used. So if you actually take the medication sublingually, this thread will help you. I have been taking buprenorphine for three and a half years now. This is what I have found: (8mg) Best: Actavis 153/half moon (orange) Middle: Roxanne 54/411 (white) Worst: Hi-Tech 8/arrow Again, this is for people who take medication as prescribed. You can actually break the medication in half and put it and the front of your lip like dip & chewing tobacco. It will take longer for it to dissolve like this but you will get much much more of the bupe.
Re: Charlene (# 154)
Thanks for the reply. I'd say your right about the looks. I ran the pill mill circuit for years and "Dr shopped" many times till I got what I wanted. I've been on this site for a good 4 to 5 years and never really seen the strips discussed. Just the broad generic description putting down suboxone users and the ever-popular, which brand pill is better. It has saved my life and made me functional. I'm so grateful for my primary care physician as he is the one who got me on this track. He asked me one day to let him know when I was ready to get my life back, that he could help me. So I did. He referred me to a Dr and counselor for a no strings consult and the rest is history. Thanks for filling me in. I had no idea about the pills or any differences in them and was just wondering if it was something new or if strips were new. Thanks again.
Re: James (# 153)
They are phasing out the sublingual pill form of suboxone and soon only strips will be available..I can't answer your question as to why you think your doctor looks at you strangely..he probably isn't..if it were me asking and my doctor looked funny at me, it could just be that we still feel how we felt years back asking..for pain pills..I'm speaking of me ,I take buprenorphine treatment because of addiction, I started back in 2007..I only took suboxone for a short time, I have always taken just plain buprenorphine without naloxone, I don't like the naloxone I never had since the first day I tried it,..I will only take subutex genetics the Rhodes 8mg or the hikma 54 411, I don't know how to answer your question..just wanted to let you know what I kinda know
Hello all. I've commented a few times on this thread but have gotten no reply.. At all. I to take suboxone. Have for quite some time. I'm a chronic pain sufferer and have addiction issues. Here in my area it is sublingual strips not the sublingual tablets . this has me curious. The suboxone absolutely DOES help with my chronic pain, it does not alleviate it but makes my days and nights tolerable. I have been prescribed suboxone for a little over 4 years now and still to this day I don't know if I'll ever taper and stop. A big question I have is why does my Dr look at me like I'm asking for some oxy when I ask about these sublingual suboxone pills. Are they better than the strip ? Worse? Or can you actively use other opiates with them? Just curious. Also curious as to why nobody aknowledges my question . or am I just clueless to something others see as obvious.
Signed curious in recovery
Re: Charlene (# 66)
It's your receptors. They are blocked. You reached the ceiling dose. You could inject heroin and not feel it.. not that I would ever suggest that. Stop for a while and wait till you feel like crap.. might take a week or two and start by taking one mg or less. No joke. 1 mg.
Re: Roxanne56 (# 10)
I know this is an old post but i get 5411 from cvs and it says hikma now and I read they bought out Roxanne, which makes me wonder if in fact they are the same even though they have the same imprint on them. I also read that teva is actavis now, but when picking up at walgreens the label still says actavis on the bottle, all so confusing. I am wondering if they are selling old meds! Also Publix said they have teva and they are orange and I went to their webpage (teva) and they look just like actavis now. They use the sam supplier publix said as walgreens but they say they are teva! At least that whats in the computer, haven't picked up from Publix yet! They are charging half the price of Walgreens as well for same meds! I have only tried those 2 brands. I feel the Rooxane or Hikma (5411) gives me more anxiety, but then again I was having some anxious moments at that time, so I traded them with someone for actavis and I didnt feel as anxious, but my situation causing the anxiety had improved as well.
Re: BigDaddy8484 (# 8)
cvs does. It was bought out by Hikma so no longer Roxane
Re: Charlene (# 145)
Have a message being scanned in more detail but I'm sorry guys Rhodes back order n out of stock til august
Re: Charlene (# 145)
Have a big message coming but being reviewed. Back order til August love u all
Re: Charlene (# 145)
Hey Charlene! Ya it is very unfortunate that Rhodes is currently unavailable. I was quite upset myself this past month about it. Those generics your getting is activas..blah. orange subutex just doesn't seem right to me but whatever. Stick to himka, Mylan, or teva OG. Rhodes is out of stock and on back order. Purdue must have not realized how popular and high of a demand their formulation of subutex would have been. I called it in 2017 that is why I had my post up back then. I wish they would have made more as demand needed. It is possible to get them still if your pharmacist is willing to short date order them. This means the pharmacy calls their wholesaler or purdue directly to order some that are left overs or going to expire within the next year. Very very few pharmacist will ever do this and it is very expensive. I have also ran into the same issue this last few months with my activas soma the dan 5531s. The Rhodes should be available around the beginning or end of August without short date ordering them in which no pharmacist will likely do and if so props for getting them to do so. I could have for my soma but at a dollar a pop per each and expired ones. Anyways I'm sorry to us all Rhodes will not he around until August and I'm happy I saved me a good amount of the Rhodes generics but upset to have to get himkas this past month but they actually look like the old Roxane formulation the way they look. God bless u all and stay away from anything that isn't the himkas Mylan or OG Teva everything else is bad news bears. I hope u all good health and good days. Rhodes will be back pursue underestimated or planned for a short on us but August could not come sooner right.
Re: Charlene (# 138)
Ive actually been on suboxone for a few years. Drs usually dont prescribe subutex except for special conditions involved, but my new dr was quick to put me on them my first visit cause i dont have insurance. Which i appreciate her looking out for me financially but i couldnt it, i had to tell her i was suboxone back cause for some reason my body just dont agree with subutex. Idk.
Re: Goozer (# 141)
Hi again, I was thinking just now after I wrote you, about the Rhodes, and myself all of a sudden I get them for 6 months or so and bam, I can't get them. Now Rhodes came out Oct 2017, and since I have been on treatment since 2005, as far as Walgreens goes for example... back in the day because I live right down the road from them I'd always get my subutex from them, and then out of the blue I'd be handed a different new generic that would come out. Now Walgreens has had the same nasty generic orange half moon FOREVER... I wonder when I will see them hand out Rhodes, they could make my day..seriously..on top of it. Who knows what they pay for the orange, but I do know that the Rhodes are very affordable for the pharmacies to pay for, and their goals seem to buy cheap...well why not Rhodes then..ya know, just sayin...
Re: Goozer (# 141)
Hello, goozer... I have been following you thread for a very long time..I havnt been taking hikma brand because I want to..its because after you tought me to seek out the best generics out there.the king of subs RHODES. ..I found a mom n pop pharmacy that I got them to order for me the Rhodes and I guess after about 6 months I called in my refill..they said they havnt been able to get them in..so I stretched out my script waiting a few more days until there next delivery, I called, nope not yet .by this time I'm in panic mode calling and driving around just like before..nobody has them..so for my Last 3 refill I have had hikma, I mean it could a better worse if ya know what I mean...I'm going to do some more leg work because I'm going crazy when I read some of the other people are able to get the Rhodes, my jealous streak comes out..I don't know why or what it is. ?maybe living in southwest Florida to were it's more older people live..but some mom n pop shops will say they don't even carry buprenorphine products on the shelf if they don't have a good clientele I guess it's just sits on the shelf until let's say me comes back in for a refill..I have Cvs, Walgreens, Walmart chain store and they have them in. Walgreens only carries the orange half moon, I took a chance to jump into cvs and at least the had hikma brand, my very first time getting a script filled with them before. So now just like in the beginning I'm chasing my buprenorphine product Rhodes the best. Once more..yep its crazy I actually read a post someone said they heard heard of a shortage for hikma, and Rhodes, now at least I'm able to get my hands on hikma but before I even have to think about taking any other buprenorphine product. Other than these two. I'd rather go back to my pill of choice
Re: Charlene (# 138)
I really don't like any bup or subs. They're supposed to be the great cure & easy to come off... No way. Not only does it stop any pain relief, I found it so depressing, shocking stuff to come off. Even 1mg was too much. Good luck with it.
Re: Brigid Coyne (# 132)
check out my forum thread called Rhodes buprenorphine vs 54 411. it has over 600 replies and we are like a family there and there is very wonderful feedback by all users of all generics. Rhodes and TEVA are very potent so if u make the switch to one of these generics keep this in mind and take only half of what you would normally take of all other generics of they may be a first experience of being floored.
Re: Charlene (# 138)
Himka charlene really?? You are still taking those? They are no where comparable to rhodes. People who switch from the 54 411 himkas to rhodes end up getting sick or zombie like as they are not used to such a strong and effective generic so they need to take a half rhodes compared to a full himka. The 54 411s were amazing when roxanne pharma was manufacturing them but they have not for a long long while. I think himka and think blaah bad news bears. Its rank:
1. Rhodes and Teva RP B8 and b799. The teva formulation is still the Barr Pharma bup formula. Teva is smart and has kept most of Barr Pharma products formulations as they are made great. This includes the Soma. Soma is currently being completely switched from activas elizabeth / mayne/ old watson formulation to being just dispensed by Teva and this switch has caused a huge shortage on somas currently going on. The DAN 5513 SOMA tablets should be back around May 31st or can be short date ordered by willing pharmacist but prior was dispensed by activas elizabeth / mayne pharma but now will show dispensed by Teva Pharma. I unfortunately had to get Jubliant Cadista Pharma somas this month anyways my point is teva is smart and has kept the formulations of medicine from barr, watson etc when they purchased out activas and watson so these two generics are identical and identical to brand name subutex. Anyways:
1. Brand Name Subutex B 8.
2. Rhodes- RP B8
3. Teva b799-barr pharma dispensed by Teva but barr formulation
4. Mylan M924- which is strange as all mylan products imo suck but not their bup formula
5. Hi Tech 8 (logo) arrow- smaller tablet
6. Himka- formely westward (semi decent tablet prior) then westward bought out by himka unfortunately- 54 411 chalky fall apart like crappy tablets that have become weak with the cover of imprint of the old good roxane 54 411s himka has ruined this imprint (ALL YOU NEED DO IS LOOK AT A PICTURE OF THE 54 411 TABLETS WHEN ROXANE MADE THEM COMPARED TO HOW THEY ARE NOW AND LOOK AT A PICTURE OF HIMKAS) this will show you how greatly this generic has fallen in himkas hands. the roxanes were hard pressed, shinny, not chalky, debossed and pushed out whereas westward and himkas are flat not debossed and pushed outwards like the old roxane ones and def are not shinny at all. just compare images to roxane 54 411 to an image of the current dispensed 54 411 by himka. the image comparison will show u all u need know
7. Activas- orange half moon (logo) 153
8. Sun pharma- 460 - these tablets have only received negative feedback. they burn the mouth are very cheap and are very weak
Rhodes and Teva are identical to brand and eachother with the same active and inactive ingredients making them the most potent bup tablets on the USA market today other than brand name which is not allowed in the states just like the suboxone tablets that were the stop sign shaped ones but these tablets are still made and dispensed in other countries (brand name subutex- b8, brand name suboxone tablets orange stop signs). suboxone films also now have two generics by amneal and teva.
Hope soma shortage is over soon and hope everyone realizes that the 54 411 are ruined and its psychological mentality keeping people on them and taking a full potent rhodes tablet when only have is needed as half of a rhodes is easily comparable to one if not two full 54 411 tablets. God bless love you all! Charlene, u must know this now, just compare images of roxane bup, westward bup, and himka bup. Since roxane they have slowly gotten more flat and less debossed and slowly but surely more chalky blaah.
may I ask why you think and prefer and rank activas subutex as number one? I only ask as most people do not think fvery highly of these generic and tend to stray. however my pharmacy is a great pharmacy and order rhodes in for me but normally dispense the activas so i know they do not go cheap and pay well to dispense good medications including activas buprenorphine. I was curious why you ranked it 1? Have you tried the rhodes by purdue that were just approved last year? check out my forum on subutex it has over 650 replies and is a very informative thread. still would like to know your reasoning on your rankings thanks! also just an fyi that rhodes is identical to brand name subutex in every way in its active and inactive ingredients making it very strong effective fast acting and generally speaking brand name.
Re: James (# 122)
I would say the difference between the pills and strips of suboxone would be the strips probably absorb better and with the pills it takes a lot longer and obsobtion is everything.. they used to have a generic by I dont know?? Dr.reddy?? And they had complaints and pulled them. Anyway I'm sure they are the same with no big difference just one obsorbs better. I'd go with strips. I have only used suboxone a short time. I started in 2005 when they first came out they would start you out on subutex for 6 days 7th day you had suboxone..I noticed a big difference in the two. To where I called my doctor asking for sure did you prescribe correctly? So I came up saying I didn't tolerate the naloxone well and have been on subutex ever since
Re: Bryan (# 129)
In Florida, Walgreens everywhere has them...your not thinking about trying them ? In my opinion the buprenorphine. Is not strong at all. I mean it has 8mg..but why not get hikma or Rhodes, it has 8.64mg of buprenorphine equivalent to 8mg..so for your money get more out of them..well not to mention for myself the actavis doesn't agree with me and my doctor has to give me clonadine for nausea for a month. I dont get them unless all my options are gone
Re: Jeremy (# 124)
Yes. Hikma now owns Westward they say 54 411 still but they changed up the ingredients. They are not shinny like the Roxanne they are a dull white kinda chalky...but they still a good generic..now we have two good generics to choose from hikma..or Rhodes..I do prefer Rhodes , but this month I had to go with hikma. The first time in about 8 months now..stay away from actavis.
Re: davidjw1 (# 114)
Hi david, I have been looking for you...so for the first time I will be trying hikma 54's again.... ..I called my pharmacy ready for a refill...his answer was they didn't come in..( my Rhodes). So I have just lowered my dose and waited to call him in a few days..they were on back order he said my next shipment comes on the 11th Wednesday..so it Saturday..I'm doing what ever I can to avoid the orange half moon from Walgreens..today I went into my local cvs I have never ordered from them before I thought well I don't know what to do only taking bits at a time. I decided fill it..I go back in an hour I ask oh what company are they from.?? Hikma,.. so I will see it's been a long time for me, .. I was in Walgreens shopping before that stop and damn I almost caved in knowing I'm out of medacine..cvs is just across the street compatition to each other..anytime I have ever been in cvs was when I was desperate like I was now, they have always turned me away saying they only have enough for their own Customers. This time I went in with a different attitude because I have new insurance Humana this year..I told them I'm new to this insurance,..I was told cvs was my pharmacy to go to and here is my script. It went perfectly as planned...everything I said was true..I can go to any pharmacy I want to as long as they take my insurance so ...I just made it sound better that's all..lol.
