Generic Opana-people Speak Up (Page 3)

They are saying that the new opana works as well as the old. There are so many peoples statements that I have read saying the new don't work as well but yet Endo states their research don't prove that. All people who have a real medical problem that causes pain and takes new opana and it doesn' work as well as the old needs to speak up. One person can't change anything. People who are being treated awful by medical doctors and pain clinics because they have pain also need to speak up.
If you don't mind me asking, what is your pain due from? I recently had back fusion surgery but looking for better relief than the current medication my Dr is prescribing. Currently taking Percocet 10/325. I've taken the Opana 40mg before and they worked great. How can I go about getting those or an equivalent? Thanks in advance
I have been on Opana 40s ER,for more then 10 yrs.and I do run into times when I get break through pain and feel like this med don't work, but I can answer that one just stop taking one or two does and you'll soon see that you go into some nasty withdrawal .So they do work.I never abused my meds and have even been taking the name brand opana which I think was stronger but then again I go by pain relief not what type of buzz I get.I don't get a buzz on my meds and I'm not looking to get a buzz just pain relief.
If you can find another medicine it's the same as the global formulation but much better I was on globals before till I got on a brand that's called actavis I am on 2 15 MGs pills 3 xs a day and they work great for me and that's saying a lot since I have been through 7 surgeries 4 fusions and need 2 more done due to missing a screw at the L5/S1 area and the L3/4 is vertebrae on vertebrae so if you can find this medicine I believe it's is a lot stronger and last much better just a little info for people that need a pain medication and you're still does not work well
If your anywhere near Nashville TN can you please please help me with the name of the clinic or Doctor. I'm about to loose it all do to one person almost killing me in my fieance's car. Please. Thanks Steve
I know exactly how you feel. I have said myself many times, I wonder how it would feel to wake up and have no pain. I have prayed for it every night. God bless, and I hope you get more relief soon.
Tori, i have ibsd and i take amitiza at times which helps, but i have been getting so many fibro flare ups its been horrible. I am on generic opana 30 made by global but that isnt working so well so i am gonna get bumped up to 40mg of generic opana. I hope it helps and i think with these opiates you take a risk but the pain is so bad what choice do you have. I consume medical Marijuana that helps also....
Take 2-4 over-the-counter 500mg magnesium only pills every night before bed with a glass water. Guaranteed all your constipation concerns will be over! Magnesium puts water into your gut and intestines and thus makes your stool softer. I've been on opiate meds for chronic pain for 4 years and have been regular 1-2 times a day. No diarrhea, no cramps, no accidents and no constipation. Completely harmless. Better than any med!
It's amazing how long I've been disabled and in chronic pain.I take opana,40mg.ERs,and they seem to help,BUT even with this pill I'm still in pain. When I get up and that could be any time, because my life and bed time is so messed up I never know if or when I will sleep.Needless to say,I have to take my pill right out of bed and lay on my couch for at least an hour before it feels good enough to move.
I been dealing with pain for so long,I'm really frustrated just trying to deal with my daily life.I really think the Opana doesn't do as good as they used too.I'm at my wits end trying to deal.I live on my couch for the most part, and I have lost almost everything in my life because of this disability/pain and yet most Drs. treat you like a criminal. They should be where I am and I in their cushy lives.
I still get some pain relief but I also have see a Chiropractor every week, and my pain Dr. for trigger points and Epidurals. This is some hell of an existence to live while life passes you by.The least a doctor should do is try to make people like us more comfortable. Most people will never know what you lose and how hard it is to just get through One day,to the next.No one should have to live like this.Time has changed me and my pain levels, but they never go away.I even tried smoking pot,and I can say when your head gets so full of pain, pain, pain,it makes me feel a lot better to get a break away from the boom, boom, boom.
I can say one gOOd thing,my Dr. agrees with me if it makes me feel better, and it does he says do it,,but I wouldn't use it everyday either, just when my head gets full of that pain cycle and I get tired of dealing with it .I'm glad my Dr. get's the point of how I live...I just pray one day I will be pain free, even for one day.I wonder what NORMAL feels like.I do hope doctors read what we write on these pages.Maybe just maybe one of them could feel some compassion for people like us and spread the word.We aren't druggies by choice....
Yes passing the plastic through the stool freaked me out, considering I have chronic constipation from the years I've been on opiates. Sometimes I go once every 2 weeks even though I am on several medications to combat that. The thought of 2 weeks worth of plastic coating inside of me for so long scared the mess out of me. I know some of you are like 2 weeks? !!! When your GI tract muscles are not moving the waste the only side effect for me was bloating. It seems like they are creating more dangerous medications to combat the potential abuse of certain medications. Which is more dangerous? The potential for abuse or the measures they are taking to prevent abuse?
Totally agree! I suffer with horrible chronic pain - the old generic worked. Then this plastic pill that i pass in my stool? And the FDA is letting them sell this joke?
I broke my back at the age of 4. Have herniated disc at l5 s4. Prior to my fusion surgery I was on opana er 20mg twice a day. I found no pain relief whatsoever until one day the pharmacy filled the generic oxymorphone er 20mg. Since then it was like day and night. I was able to function. The pain was still there, but it was managable. My spinal fusion was in may, and since then i have been begging to be put back on the oxymorphone. First they put me on dilaudid 4mg with opana er 20mg. The dilaudid worked for breakthrough pain, but I was still in a lot of pain. Then I was switched to fentanyl 25mg patch and percocet 10mg 6 times a day for breakthrough still no relief. Then exalgo er 12mg and percocet 10mg 4 times a day for breakthrough. I had so many side effects from the exalgo including join pain extreme depression and sweating as if I was going through withdrawal. I finally got back on what works for me. Oxymorphone er 20mg twice a day and 10mg percocet for breakthrough pain, but I am having some issues with the pharmacy and Dr office with medicaid approval and pre authorization even though I was on the medication for over 6 months. I asked my pain management dr once why I got relief from the generic yet not the name brand and he explained that they aren't the same and my body may metabolize them differently. I know first hand the generic works for me and the name brand does nothing.
The generic is way better my pharmacy had to order it ....but the brand sucks if u can get the generic go for it....
I have been a chronic pain patient for 28 years this Nov. and I use Opana er, which works pretty good.It doesn't seem as strong as the original Opana. I know that when the rain comes, just before it rains I am bed ridden and and can't function at all. I need pain relief. I think people that abuse this drug go by the high they might feel as compared to the new formula that doesn't give you the same sensation.
I'm not into feeling high off my drugs that I take. Pain relief is all I look forward to,and sometimes the doctor I used to have gave me what he called a rescue med, which was the Opana 10mg. to take that edge off only during bad weather. Today I use 40mg. Opana er 3x a day,and it does work but now I need that rescue med and the doctor I have now won't write a script for them. I NEVER abuse my drugs, ever. I need them to live or I will be someone nobody wants to be around (they make me normal). I have been on percocets and I became addicted to them and nobody wanted to help me off of them except the hospital detox unit, which I couldn't do.
Being disabled for as long as I have and doing drugs almost all of that time I have had major battles dealing with the drugs I've been on, between feeling euphoria off of them and the drug store not being able to do their job right and having my pain pills available when I needed them I would start detoxing while waiting for them to come in.
I detoxed myself off the drugs I was taking by myself, and NO help from anyone. Then I found a pain doctor who prescribed Opana and have been on them ever since(which is about 8yrs. now)I'm scared if their would be any problem getting these pills or another doctor. I never want to experience what I did coming off of the previous meds I've been taking. I really never pictured my life being in chronic pain and having to be medicated for the 28 years I've been hurting. I have tried every doctor, drug therapy, all the physical therapy I could do,diets, you name it.I hate to admit it but I am addicted to my meds and really never wanted drugs, but I have to. When I compressed my spine,I had so much damage and it's getting worse every year, surgeries are out due to it being a comp case my employer wouldn't approve because they never wanted to pay for it. Because of all the legal mumbo jumbo, I been through. My health was the last thing on their list of having me get the help I needed, so now I suffer on a daily basis. Without Opana I would have given up years ago.
I just got put on opana xr 30mg ...i was on oxycotin 40mg ...dont feel like i am getting any relief. And my boobs are tender as hell ...is the generic really better and what about the side effects???? Thanks
Hi Martha; Just seen your post, and I have had some problems too with Opana. I was getting stomach pain, and acid reflux, but changed when I eat.I took food just before taking my meds and it seemed to go away.I been a cpp,for 27 yrs.and finally have a good pain doctor. They have a habit of treating us like we're criminals, and even threaten us with arrest.I think it's a sad state we're in if you have a legit disability with proof and they still do this to us.I know all the druggies ruined it for us,but I don't like being treated like one of them instead of the good and honest guy I am..I also take a 500mg. muscle relaxer with my Opana 40s,and for the most part they control the pain better then Percocets ever did.I don't want generics either,I need name brand or forget it.I know there is an addiction to these drugs but I also have a pain addiction,I never wanted,so to feel partially normal is better then screaming in pain like I used to before these meds. I wish you good luck in your pain treatments and hope you don't experience the bad Doctors I have. Now I have a great guy, who LISTENS, AND PRESCRIBES, and I hope you find a good guy too.
I know how you feel about Doctors, and wish I could help you find the right guy to go too.I have to say,I felt the same way you do,from time to time, about wanting the pain to end,and think death is a better alternative. It's not,any day on this side of the dirt is a good day.I'm a chronic pain person too,for 27 years, everyday, all day,but I take Opana, and a 500mg.muscle relaxer twice a day.It helps for the most part. But my chiropractor can turn a bad day good, with heat and elec. stym. I wouldn't take a generic Opana, the name brand is the best, and you don't get a buzz. I see others saying they burn. Your not supposed to abuse them, and if they do, they are the one's that make it hard for us real pain patients who can't find a good Dr. when we need them. I wish I could do away with all the drug searchers, they are ruining it for all the legit patients out here. All I can tell you is don't give up,you will find a doctor and you will make feel good enough to at least live from day to day.I can't lie to you and say you'll be normal one day,you might not,but if you do God bless....
I just wanted to say, for the first time, I'm trying the Oxymorphone ER & this is the crazy part: my insurance will pay for the brand name Opana ER, but will not pay for the generic?! I've heard a lot of bad feedback about the brand name not breaking down once it's ingested, but that the generic is good to go. So, instead of paying $45. for 60 pills, I'm having to pay $300.!? Why is this happening? Is there some sort of pay off here? It's definitely hurting me financially! Is there really a difference in the brand versus the generic? Please, someone help me find an answer.
Well I have been taking for a week now and they are HORRIBLE. I am getting no relief, and as a matter of fact, I am going thru withdrawal..so what do I do this is crazy., spent $400 on this garbage.
