Generic Norco M367 10/325 (Page 17)
UpdatedIt's no good. I have to take three at a time for 1 hour of pain relief. Anybody else have this problem with M367 - 10/325? Has anyone else noticed that meds from certain manufacturers do not work as well for them?
Sandy How nice that you get three month at once. I got lucky and an associate at my doctor's office called me in a prescription.. I doubt there will be refills but my doctor will take care of it when he gets back .Soma helps with my Neuropathy too.
I hope they do not take it off the market . I could do better without the Norco but not the Soma. Of course I would deal with pain. I guess the law says there is a limit to how many refills we can get and then we need a new prescription .
The pharmacy barely want to give them to you . If you ask them to order something else yeah right
I am having the same exact problem..the yellow norcos are better than the M357
YOI DONT GET REFILLS FOR NORCO!THEY ALSO CANNOT BE CALLED IN IF SO YOUR DR AND PHArMACY ARE DOING SOMETHING VERY ILLEGAL. Schedul 2 drugs require a physical prescription in person.and no refills either.
My doctor has a new computer system and he can let me have three refills. It is e filing. He is having trouble with sending the right way so I can get a new refill and I have to call it in. The pharmacist knows it is legal. My doctor just has to send the order e filing it the right way. I see him every few months now instead of monthly.
They definitely are not as strong. Not getting any relief..
Tammy I have heard that a lot. I never had the yellow Norco. I have had Activis. What helps me is the Soma 350 mg I take with the Norco. The pharmacies seem to be out of anything else here. I think they do not stock anything else.
It could be due to the formulary for your insurance. But let me start with a disclaimer that I'm not a paid medical expert, including pharmacy.
Now, it's 2016. The laws have changed, of course. I've been having this issue for several years now, mostly in the last year. They've punished the honest people once again, who truly use the drug for the right reasons & as prescribed. And who really do need it. Mallinckrodt 366, 367 or 357, just all the white ones I've had since 2012, even the red specked ones, are pure junk. They only put me to sleep. No wakey, no houseworky. I went to 7.5mg bc the yellow 5mg weren't effective enough. Tolerance isn't really an issue bc I take a couple days off from taking it, typically on off days from work here & there, so there's no addiction or tolerance issue with me. I don't have an addictive personality, thus I'm lucky in that sense. The yellow 7.5/325 generic work (for me), PERIOD. I can't remember the manufacturer. I read in this thread that M366, M367, M3whoknowswhat (all Mallinkrodt generic Norco / hydrocodone APAP that I've personally been dispensed at some point) is weaker & CHEAPER, however, I've been informed that's not the case. It's made in St Louis, MO, according to my pharmacist (and the internet). She just told me they're actually MORE EXPENSIVE than the yellow brand that actually works properly (for me). What's even more perplexing is the fact that my insurance currently, is Medicaid/Aetna Better Health of MO! I'd probably get more pain relief if I went & drank a gallon of polluted (by byproducts) Mississippi River water downstream from the new plant they're building. [- sarcasm, just in case anyone thinks I'm actually crazy enough to do that lol].
On a quick side note, does anyone else find it awfully *strange* how my insurance makes my pharmacy give me some of my pharmaceuticals, in the name brand, even when there's generics which work fine (unlike these Mallinckrodt C2 medications, Norco - which I've never had the name brand)? E.g. Adderall, Valtrex, etc. Note that I'm fortunate enough (? I'd prefer to be healthy, honestly) to be covered by a government funded Medicaid program (a HUGE thank you to all the other taxpayers, who help me to have coverage - I'm legitimately "entitled", so seriously THANK YOU VERY MUCH). But why would a government program mandate the most expensive option on certain medications? HMMM...
Anyway, my pharmacist said to make sure to tell them next month, a couple of days before AND once they get the Rx. They'll hold off filling it until they can get the yellow ones. I told them I'll wait for the yellow before I just take the white Mallinckrodt brand again - they're practically a waste of money, especially knowing they're wholesale pricing is HIGHER!
So if you're wondering if "it's just you...", it's probably not (your imagination). Therefore, BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE PHARMACY, CHECK TO SEE WHAT THEY GAVE YOU! TALK TO THE PHARMACIST IF YOU HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE, BEFORE YOU LEAVE THEIR SIGHT!!! If you walk out the door, they cannot, by law, take it back (since drug abusers have given reason to make it a major deal --C2 in the US-- to be relieved of pain for those who really need it).
I've been paying attention to this issue for myself, so I had called in advance twice before this fill from Monday, to my pharmacy, to make sure they had the yellow ones in stock. Yes & yes. But by the time I got the PAPER Rx to them (the same day), they were out of the yellow. It's a small town pharmacy, and I love them. They're great! But, they're controlled by the insurance mandates &/or what their wholesaler can get in stock. It's not necessarily 'CVS getting the cheaper & weaker brand to save money', as my pharmacist (who orders the controlled substances) told me today when I called bc I wanted to bring that [M367] crap back. But alas, I had it delivered so once it's gone, there's no going back/exchange for a controlled/scheduled drug in the US. I'm not sure about the unscheduled drugs, or if all pharmacies have to abide by that same law. It may be different in different states, I'm not sure.
I was advised by another pain sufferer who is prescribed Norco/generic & has the same problem, to report the problem, in detail, to the government site. I believe it's medwatch.gov(?). In headed over there now. I'm finally tired of this bc I DID think "it's just me". That maybe since I have to take several other medications for epilepsy (JME, which requires me to take Lamictal/lamotrigine that's also for bipolar - I take it for the JME - thankfully, I don't have that additional diagnosis, Keppra along & PRN diazepam) & a couple others, such as Lyrica for the nerve pain from injuries from grand mal seizures (outdated, I know but whatever lol - this is MY comment & MY life, dangit!)
Sorry if I'm confusing in my writing, I don't take Adderall anymore bc I'm trying to control the ADHD with other methods & naturally. Yippee.
Thanks for reading. Please feel free to tell me I'm wrong, argue, agree, etc. Just bc I have illnesses, injures, pain & am heavily medicated for such, doesn't mean my brain doesn't still work, or that my feelings need be spared all the time! I'll be ok :)
That was a great post. Too many people have said exactly what you have said about the generic Norco. I find that I cannot do the shopping or anything that requires me to be on my feet for more than five minutes. I have had to accept this. I talked to my pharmacist and they order the same Activis all of the time. My physician has trouble knowing how to e file so I must call in every month even if I saw him one month before. In my state there are too few family physicians.
CVS treated me like a criminal. They had the Mallincroft but they count days and on day 29 I just brought in a written prescription. I planned to pick it up the next day but the female pharmacist told me she was not going to fill it and she said she had that power. She accused me of being addicted. I have never taken more than prescribed and I had the pain management and all of the treatments that have harmed me more than helped me. That is why I switched to Walgreens and they treat me with respect. It hurts to be judged because we have pain.
I do not understand why we are told to take a more expensive drug. I was fighting to stay on my diabetic pills. I have medicare and drug coverage. The pills I take cover me for 24 hours and the new drug does not. We are victims here.
I fought and my physician fought to keep me on the drug that has controlled my diabetes for five years. For a while I had to pay out of pocket. What is going on here?
Yeah right I been dealing w this for 5 years now. THE PHARMACIST SAYS THAT THEIR CORPORATE ORDERS THEIR MEDS AND THST THEY CANNOT ORDER A SPECIFIC GENERIC IVE BEEN TO 3 OHARMACIEA ALL USE CRAPGENERICS AND SUFFERING FOR 3 MONTHS STRAIGHT. THIS IS INSANE. HOW DOES NOONE CARRY QUALITEST THIS COST ME YET ANOTHER JOB.
Have you tried Express Scripts for your meds? Check into it. It may save you a whole lot of pain and trouble if they will do it for you. And they are able to find a pharmacisit whose co. carries Qualities.
Sandy,
I tried Express Scripts and my pills were late. I had to call my physician and get a small prescription for my diabetic pills. Then too my mail gets here at 5 to 6 pm. It is so hot by the time I receive my pills. They are sitting in a hot mail truck all day long. I cannot rely on them. That was my experience.
They can be e-scripted electronically if your dr. Office has the software technology to do so, an e-script is the same thing as a handwritten prescription.
Yes!! I cannot take them, it's useless medicine being dumped in my body. It's ridiculous for pharmacists/doctors to say its the same meds as of 4 years ago. They have compromised and taken at least 80/90% of the pain meds out. So all we're really getting is a plain & regular tylenol.
I am going to tell you WHY everyone is being treated so badly when you complain about certain brand generics. I am a former Pharmacy Tech of plus 25 years. One specific pharmacy job I had was at a private owned pharmacy in a major Nashville Tennessee hospital. I had a patient that's specific complaint was about a certain manufacturer of generic Soma. She wanted only another generic brand saying the one we were trying to dispense was not as effective for her. The pharmacist/owner told me that was ridiculous, the only real problem she had was her a addiction to the drug. In other words, it represents drug seeking behavior. Now this was a non- narcotic drug and he labeled her. So I am saying you are being treated as exhibiting drug seeking behavior to them. As a patient myself, I KNOW some are not up to par. What a shame it has come to this and you are being ridiculed for NO REASON. Why can't we make a request without bias? We all know how own responses to drugs. It's very UNFAIR!!
Saphronia, a doctor was prescribing me Suboxone for PAIN because that is what he likes to prescribe because he fears overdoses in general. I felt like they did relieve my pain. He did switch me to Morphine after my knee surgery and I still take that for pain. I just found out that I am on some kind of pharmacy list (not blackballed) when I wanted to switch to a doctor that accepted my insurance. They told me that the only med they could prescribe for me is Suboxone. I don't know if this is true or just one doctor. But either way, I have a label now even if it is just one doctor. I have never used Suboxone to detox from drugs. I have always been able to wean myself off of them for long periods of time. So even though I have suffered with debilitating pain since 1985, I guess I am considered a drug seeker now. To tell you the truth, I do not like the effects that opiates give me but when my pain gets too bad they are good to have. It is actually the the DEA that produces many addicts because they require you to go each month to a doctor or they think you are not in pain. I only want to use them when i need them. They want you to take them every day. I hope some day they will realize this and stop this problem for true pain patients.
In my state CA they are passing SB 482. I think it went through. I read the entire bill.
It is a handcuff on all doctors trying to make them stop prescribing pain meds and if they do they must register and a physician must send in reports every four months. There are limitations on new pain prescriptions. I know almost all states have adapted these rules. They started up in 2015 according to what I read. I read nothing about patients with real pain. It is abusive to all of us. Maybe someone here knows more about the new laws. We are all on a computer system and they know everything we take. We have no privacy any more. Maybe soon they will require a mug shot. I am angry.
Jasmine, I live in CA also and it is tough enough for me now, having to drive 4 miles round-trip just to pick up the prescription. And they wonder why people by from drug dealers. It gets more and more difficult every year. Not sure the outcome of the Bill but will watch for it. Take care and gentle hugs.
Takeing three 10/325 of NORCO is not good be aware that your. Also taking 925 mg of tylenol, which is very bad for your liver. Spread out your medication every four hours. No more than six for 24 hours. Try two to start, then one every four or six hours. Never to exceed 2000mg of tylonal!! Check with your dr.
I ended up switching to the Hydrocodone/IB 10/200 because I had been taking tylenol for so long. It seems to work better for me and I make sure I eat a little something to protect my stomach. It also seems to last longer than the Tylenol combination. Sometimes it's good to change it up, as long as your doctor agrees.
