Generic Buprenorphine 54 411 Vs M 924 (Page 5)

Updated

I've been going to a clinic for almost a year now and each time I get prescribed 8mg Subutex. When I would fill my prescription I would receive 54 411 white tablets. Today when I picked it up I got M 924 white tablets. The only difference I've found is the manufacturer. The manufacturer for the 54 411 is ROXANE and for the M 924 is MYLAN. Are they pretty much the same pill just different imprint/manufacturer?

Hey I'm sorry about your pain, I don't know what you're goin through. I take sub for opiate addiction, but I have friends and family who have chronic pain and from what I've heard, if your dr isn't helping you, wont give what you need etc., tell them. If they still won't listen, don't take any scripts from them, they won't help anyways, and go to another dr, and try again. Hopefully you find one that will help. As long as you don't take anything from your current dr (no Rx's to last you until you find another one, that is technically illegal) you can look for a dr that will help you for what you need help with. There might be a dr out there that can help you, but you usually have to find em for yourself. Good luck :)

I have been taking the one by Roxanne for over 5 years, and my dose has been the same for the past 3yrs. I'm able to function fine, 2 small kids, etc. no cravings, and my pain is managed. So.... insurance changed and I can only get the meds from CVS now. Last week I picked the Rx up and didn't think anything of it. All week long Ive had a terrible headache and felt so sluggish like I have the flu. The only thing I could think of that had changed was the medication, so I checked & saw that the new prescription was by Mylan. I looked online and found similar experiences. Just to test it I had a couple old pills- a day after I switched back I was good as new! I'm going to report this to Mylan... maybe the dosing is inconsistent, or maybe I'm sensitive to a filler they use?

I just got the 924s today. To me they work as good if not better than the 54s. The oval orange ones are horrible. If any of them have toxins it's the orange ones u can tell from the taste of them.

Hi, I realize this was written a year ago but I live in Salt Lake City as well as for just the last 3 years. I'd love to connect you with my doctor. He is amazing truly, flexible, understanding, doesn't downplay your condition and will absolutely give you what you need, to a legal extent obviously. He doesn't accept insurance. It's a discrete professional office. I hope you get this message. I am on bupreborphine aka subutex and I have been for 2 years. I have made the mistake of telling doctors in the past that the first 2 years- when I was 20-21.... that I was prescribed it for addiction. Now back in my home state they won't even prescribe me anymore because I admitted that, which I learned is a mistake to volunteer too much info I guess. Apparently FORMER addicts aren't allowed to be treated for pain conditions 10 yrs down the road in Illinois. They clearly want opiates on the street and not something as safe as subutex (as long as you don't mix with benzos - which is a no brainer anyhow). Pain management wasn't even heard of. The past 9 years I've been on it for pain management, at first for osteoarthritis in the lower back. Always feeling lousy about being chemically dependent. I weaned myself off them with no withdrawal- zero, in January... So I got passed the mental aspect... only to rediscover that I couldn't live without them about 3 months later when the pain from my newly discovered by X-ray lumbar degenerative disc disease was so unbearable I couldn't sleep. Took a different docs advice and got the spinal shots when I moved back to Illinois in feb and tried to find a doc but they refused. Ever since, I went from moderate pain prior to always severe after the shots. Now I've come to grips that I'll be taking it the rest of my life and I fly back to Utah once a month. It's truly amazing what that little crumb of chemical can do in regards to changing your quality of life and mobility. Anyways, enough about me, write me back about anything you would like to find out about the doctor. I just saw him yesterday and he told me to spread the word bc he needs new patients. He got a new license. The office has 2 doctors and it's right on the sandy/draper divide, kitty corner from lone peak hospital in these wooden log cabin looking offices on the west side of state street just before the draper peaks cinnemark. They're just about to move, I can give you the new location or you can call them - comprehensive medical. Google dr Timothy Schaat in sandy/draper and he's in there mon, wed and thurs. Michael is the nurse practitioner who just got licensed to dispense, he just told me yesterday. Michael is the new one who told me to spread the word. But Tim is my main one who actually allows me to consume marijuana. He did his residency in Colorado so he has a broader more laid back approach, way less anal than any other one I've ever had anywhere. And the cvs in south towne mall inside the target filled all 75 of mine without insurance for $149.99. With a discount card I saved 60%. Good luck and feel free to ask me anything. Cheers.

I call bull. I've been off subs, opiates, Ds etc... for years now. It is true you never have to use again period, its a choice we have to make all the time. It's wasn't easy but possible. You can do it. Maybe deep down you just aren't ready to give the dope up once and for all. You know the only reason you can't do it is because you say you can't. Good luck. I wish you all the best!

I believe you are correct. I am not sure who you are or what are you referring to. How did you get off subs if you don't mind sharing? That's what I need to do and I'm having a difficult time

I have been taking these orange oblong ones with the half moon, those are crap, no good whatsoever... Not only horribly tasting but they just did NOT work as well as the white ones. I finally went to my pharm today, and received the M 924 and I couldn't be happier. In further detail: I was previously getting the Roxanne brand for over a year, then out if the blue last month my pharm only had the crappy oblong orange half moons, then this month I got the M 924 from my pharm, they seem to work just as great as the Roxanne brand. I honestly can't say I notice a difference. I guess it all depends on the person, brain chemistry etc..IMO!! I'm happy with the M 924, personally!! :-D

I completely agree. They seem so very different to me. I like the 54 411's the best.

It's easy for some, harder for others. The disease of addiction is complex. It is treatable as with any disease like diabetes... Treating the disease of addiction with Subutex, Suboxone Methadone, Vivitrol, etc is what helps keep those who want to be in recovery stay away from opiates & typically those are the people who stay in recovery, like myself for quite awhile until they're comfortable with tapering off the meds & only when that individual is completely stable and comfortable with coming off the medication. It is not easy for those of us who have a diseased brain, (don't produce enough dopamine, etc..), as with me. I've found my only way is Subs and without them, I'd be back out buying opiates and on that horribly terrifying downward spiral, knocking on deaths door. Some people can just enjoy the euphoria from opiates and CAN come off easily with no problem, but w/some withdrawals of course (then they take Subs to ease the withdrawal and boom, they can be clean never touching an opiate again) those are the ones who don't necessarily have the disease of addiction (they're brain produces the chemicals properly) unlike some of us including myself. I've been in & out of recovery for 12yrs, but completely stable for 2yrs. For skeptics, utilize Google. God bless and well wishes to everyone in recovery and for those of you trying to break free from the chains of addiction. Keep your head up, it gets better.

I have been taking Suboxone 8-2 for 3 yrs. The insurance company just made me switch to bup. 8mg. I have a hard time with excess saliva and gagging. I am not getting anywhere near the pain relief as I was with the sub. I am also having trouble with my blood pressure going up and loss of strength. It also seems like I can't control it. Does anyone know if this may be caused by me loosing some of the med from gagging and having to spit it out or could it be from something else? I sure am disappointed!

They have stopped making the 54 411's because they can be abused. Not good! You will see they will change all your rxs to the other generics because they are replacing the 54 411s with the Mylans which SUCK. They all suck compared to the 54 411s. They work the best, hands down. No naloxone, no headaches, and now are only available through certain clinics. If you have these THANK THE STARS! If you don't get these, TRY! The 54-411s are the real deal and anyone who takes bup will tell you the same. The Mylans and the rest are crap. They better not take away my 54 411s.

If being weaned off of Subutex/Suboxone were only that simple. I've been through an 8 month treatment program 2X where I originally started taking 2, 8mg strips/day & was weaned down 1/4 strip each month. Both times I started, I was ready for treatment, told myself I could finally get off of everything & did/took everything by the book & as prescribed. By the time I was down to my last week of treatment, I was ready for sobriety & to be completely drug free, & was even excited. Four days after taking my last 1/4 strip, I was in horrible withdrawal (when I was told I wouldn't go through withdrawal) that was much worse than any withdrawal I'd ever experienced coming off of pain killers! Doctors claim that you might as well be taking nothing if you're only taking a 1/4 of a strip, but that's a crock of bull- there's quite a bit of medicine in a 1/4! It's easy to make assumptions when the only experience you have coming off of a medication is what you read or have been told! Needless to say, it's now 5-6 years later & I'm still depending on Subuxone & feel I've traded one evil for something much more evil. It's highly depressing & I see no way out. Believe me, you'd be much better to bare through the 4-7 day withdrawal coming off pain killers, than to start taking Suboxone & be forced to bare through excruciating withdrawal that could last MONTHS before feeling close normal again. I know about it taking months bc a close friend had to come off of Suboxone in jail & served 6 months. Upon release, she said she finally started seeing the light & feeling normalcy around MONTH 4!!!

It's the arrogance and the attitude of somebody whom I believe, based on their elitist attitude, your almost irritation with people's struggles, and the fact if you are so simplistic and moreover, simple minded that you fall into the category of not having the disease of addiction. You see my friend, if ANYONE ingests a physically addicting substance for long enough, even the strong and superior folks, like you, will become dependent...And you self admittedly don't get it...You can't even fathom why everyone is not like you and can't just stop...You are further evidence that 1) All suboxone patients are not addicts, rather just a person who became dependent on opiates for whatever reason, and 2) proves the theory that there are, even in 2017, close minded and all knowing fellow human beings there to promote themselves, and the most ignorant of all the folks seem to have the most to say, and admittedly don't understand, "why," by your own admission, and 3) If you are, "Cured," of addiction, I got news for you my narrow minded, obtuse, and in many ways offensive coolguy, are just a discouragement to those who actually DO suffer from the genetic predisposition to become addicts, which mind you is a disease according to the DSM IV defines as a) Chronic b) Progressive, and c) Fatal if not arrested at some point. You fall into the overall douche category that makes advancement of the study of real addicts stagnate. And finally, it begs the question, if you are so pompous and condescending and rude, (In my opinion,) why are you commenting on a topic in a forum designed for people to gain education, support, and strength, experience, and hope in order to help the addict that still suffers attain sobriety? You bring nothing of substance to the table except for your own self promotion and outright ignorance all around, regarding addiction. "Just stop." Great advice, for a non addict who is almost rubbing it in our faces. It begs the question, why? Why make that comment, Why come to this forum, and why put your arrogance, intolerance, and lack of empathy for others on display. Go back to kicking your dog, and not buying girl scout cookies, and self promotion that probably left you with nothing better to do but sit, ALONE, and practically gloat for your good fortune. Further proof that ignorance is bliss, and you are the epitome of why the advancement for addictions specialty in the medical fields has such trouble getting funding for outreach programs. We should all "Man up," and stop being addicts. You are BULL, as you so eloquently put it. Beat it. This is a place to go for information and help. And to help others, three things you obviously care nothing about.

The 54/411 are still being manufactured and still in circulation...not sure where you are getting your info from. Also all subutex can be abused.....nothing to do with the manufacturer
