Following knee replacement surgery I was diagnosed 2 x 100mg Gabapentin. Three times a day. After discharge I had to get a renewed prescription and I have now noticed that the Pharmacist has given me 300mg Gabapentin capsules by mistake. This means I have been on 2 x 300mg Gabapentin Three times a day. Is it a coincidence that three days after being discharged after I started the overdose I have developed cellulitis in the lower leg that had the knee replacement? ## Hello, Paul! How are you? Yes, that most likely is a coincidence, since cellulitis is a type of deep tissue infection. Are you on an antibiotic for it? As to your Gabapentin prescription, you should take that one back to the pharmacy and have them correct it. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nause...

Hello. I've been taking 1200 mg Neurontin (600 twice daily) for around 4 yrs. I'd like to wean off of it and will off course do so with my Dr.'s supervision. However I will not completely trust her schedule for weaning because of a past experience with her. What schedule would you recommend? I think I read somewhere a recommendation of reducing 10% per month but that seems awfully slow. ## I meant to title it gabapentin reduction schedule not withdrawal schedule!! Can't find a way to edit this. ## Hello, JP! How are you? Well, it does need to be a slow taper, coming off of it too fast can create a risk of seizures. Many people that stopped too suddenly also experienced other symptoms, such as feeling sick, dizzy, spacey and experienced mood swings, among others. The FDA ...

I take 30 mgs of baclofen per day and was recently prescribed gabapentin 300mgs 3 x daily. The other day after taking my last dose of gabapentin, I became extremely lethargic and went to sleep. I awoke to my body slamming on the floor as I had rolled out of bed. This has never happened before. Is it the combination of the two meds that caused this? ## Hello, Zim! How are you? The lethargy may be due to the combination of the two. However, I've not heard reports of falling out of bed. It could've been due to very vivid dreaming, which the Gabapentin can sometimes cause. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Has it happened, again, or just that once? ## Just the one time so far. Thanks...

I was put on Lyrica for diabetic nerve pain, but after taking it for 2 weeks, my blood sugar dropped drastically, and I had to be hospitalized. It was determined that Lyrica was responsible, since that was the only thing that had changed. I was taken off the Lyrica immediately. However, I have suffered with constant leg pain for years, and asked my doctor if there was something different I could take. He prescibed Gabapentin for a trial month to see how I do with it. When I got home, I searched the Internet for more information and see that it was primarily prescribed for seizures. My question is: Will I experience the same side effects as I did with Lyrica, and will I become dependent on the medication if it does help. I don't like the possible side effects of mood swings, depressi...

Gabapentin can cause these types of side effects in anywhere between 1 to 7% of the people that use it. Since it sounds like they were pretty severe and caused him problems walking, its probably not the right medication for him, or it may be too high of a dosage. ## I am a diabetic patient. I complained of pain in the body and hardened hand movements. Doctor prescribed Gabapentin USP 300 mg Capsules for night and 100mg capsules for the morning. I have been taking 300mgs of gabapentin 100mgs three times a day I suffer with a fast irregular heartbeat and since taking this medication it has been much worse and keeping me awake at night do you think I should continue as I am trying to stop my nightime diazepam 5mgs and treat the nerve pain I have from rotator cuff injury and back spasms from a chronic back condition ## Hello, Rose! How are you? You should have this checked out by your doctor. Gabapentin has been known to cause high blood pressure and tachycardia in some people that take it, as reported by the FDA. If it continues out of control, it could become dangerous. This just might not be the right medication for you to take and you may need to try something else. Has there been any change?

I have a question. I have 300mg gabapentin. If I'm out of the 300mg can I take 400mg? ## Hello, Denice! How are you? It would be best not to raise your dosage, without your doctor's approval. Hey, So my partner started taking gabapentin 3x300mg 3 times a day for rheumatoid arthritis in his feet he's only 29. He recognized this drug as something his friends use to take recreationally and we all know it effects us all differently. I'm bipolar get a little bored and curious not to mention noticed a change in his mood just in general a happier person so I thought I'd start taking them too just for the effect. I soon became addicted to the feeling of not really caring almost superior, I felt I could talk my way out of any situation and just loved life. Of course there's always a time you run out and with us both taking them he soon did. With the pain of arthritis coming and going there was always plenty for me. I soon realized just how addicted I was and was the f...

What pharmacy carries these? I have used the R636 pills for a few years. I have diabetic nerve pain up to my knees, hands to my elbows and take 1200mg every 8 hours. I have tried the white gabapentin pills (G31, 150 coated, 150 un-coated and others) they DO NOT work, it's almost like some of the pills are just filled with binders and have no gabapentin. I have tried all my local pharmacys. They all say that they can no longer get the R636 pills. Does anyone know where the green R636 pills are available? If so, please let me know.
