After trying to treat it with antibiotics, they finally performed surgery and removed the pus manually. About two months after he was released from the hospital, he began having extremely painful neuropathy in his fingers, legs and feet. His fingertips have been splitting, cracking and bleeding, and his legs and feet have had painful rashes and open wounds. He has tried steroid creams for his legs and feet, which help, but for his hands he has been given Gabapentin, Cymbalta and Lyrica, all which cause strange mental behavior...which I would liken to mildly psychotic. They seem to help his pain, but all make him have "the evil inside," which is what he calls it when he has episodic behavior due to these drugs. Can ...

It's not from the Zoloft. Your having gabapentin WD's and symptoms of interdose withdrawals IDK ## Hi! I am not sure who you were responding to, but in the future to make a response to someone's post, you can use the reply button directly under their post, so they will receive notification of your response. As to withdrawals, a person can experience them if they abruptly stop any medication that they've been taking for a long period of time. Thus, both Zoloft and Gabapentin can cause withdrawal issues, including the risk of seizures, which may be dangerous, as reported by the FDA. Other withdrawal effects may include dizziness, headache, irritability, mood swings, rebound depression, anxiety, insomnia and diarrhea. Is there anything I can help with?

Ive been on gabapentin 800mg 3 x's a day for several months for treatment of fibromyalgia pain and anxiety. I have been waking up every morning with diarrhea (2-4 trips to bathroom) for about the same amout of time, and my doctor claims the 2 are not related. I cant remember having a normal bowel movement since beginning the gaba and am wondering if anyone else may have had the same experience? The gaba has been the most effective treatment I've tried for the fibromyalgia pain & the added benefit of treating my anxiety has been wonderful as well & I'd hate to stop taking it. But if the trade off is daily diarrhea, i may have to stop! Of course my doc wants to run a bunch of expensive tests for the diarrhea, but if its as simple as stopping the gaba I'd rather sta...

I am not taking it illegally or abusing it in any way and I am looking to get my Class A CDL. Any help is much appreciated, Thanks ## If the DOT does a full panel drug screen, meaning sending it to the lab for a comprehensive analysis, suboxone will show up on your test. ## I am facing 5 yrs in state prison for a a drug screen that came back positive for suboxin. I'm on probation for a DUI and I have never taken this and I truly don't know what to do! Please help! I do take gabapentin 2,400 mg/day and bus bar 10 mg/day, along with random Advil and Advil PM but that is all!
I'm taking gabapentin 300. I've been on it for the last 5 years to help decrease my rsd pain. I've met several other woman who use this drug and who have experienced the same side effect of causing dark spots on their cheeks. Is it the gabapentin causing this? I'd really like to find out, because, I had lost my insurance for 5months and was off the drug. To my surprise, the dark spots lightened up all the while I was off of it. Now that I am able to see my Dr. again, he wants me to start taking this drug again. Is their any medical research study shown that gabapentin causes facial dark spots. ## Hello, Honey! How are you? Yes, the FDA does list skin discolorations as being a possible side effect of this medication, along with headache, dry mouth, nausea and weight gain....
Been off Gabby for months now and starting to feel like my old self except still having digestive issues..bloating, small stomach aches that are getting better.. Has anyone else dealt with this problem? Dr. has me taking Zantac and also trying Beano and gas x..just makes me very uncomfortable at times. Hope everyone is doing better.. Thanks ## I get that terrible bloated feeling and take just one ginger tablet. They work fast and no side effects. Buy them at any drug store or health food store. ## Hello, Sandy! How are you? Most medications can irritate the stomach and cause some damage with long-term use and it may take awhile for it to heal, as reported by the FDA. Are you taking any medications other than what you've mentioned? Do you watch what you eat? You may need to keep your...
I had a hemangiopericytoma removed from my cervical spine about 6 years ago and have had nothing but problems since. I can barely move my neck, have terrible cervical headaches (occipital mainly) and cannot find relief. I have tried the gamut of pain meds, nerve pills and muscle relaxers, with no success. Tried all the therapies, alternative options and am at "my wits end". I am on Gabapentin currently and cannot stand the weight gain, dumb feeling and irritability. HELP?!!! ## I am so very sorry about how miserable you are, that's terrible. Are you seeing a specialist, such as a pain management specialist? In some cases like yours a spinal stimulator, or implanted drug infusion machines might help, according to the NIH and many will try them, once other options have been ex...
I have just done withdrawals from a Dopamine drug that I was using for Restless Leg Syndrome. Now I have been started on Gabapentin and I see so many forums and comments from people withdrawing from this drug. I'm feeling concerned now and can someone tell me the reasons for not wanting to use this drug? Is it because you've found something that works better, or, were you having nasty side effects, or, anything else that I should know?. I'd appreciate finding out everyone's story and thanks very much. ## Hello, Katy! How are you? It really depends on the person, so the reasons may vary. Not every medication works for every person that tries it and, if it doesn't work, there's no point in continuing it. Conversely, it can cause seizures in some people, mood swings...
Been off Gabapentin for months now and feeling much better..still having some stomach issues, bloating, low appetite and small stomach ache. Dr. had me try Zantac and it does help some. Anyone else had this problem coming off Gabapentin?? Thanks ## Hello, Sandy! How are you? If it is still occurring months after stopping, it is not likely related to withdrawal of the Gabapentin, but it could have caused some damage to your stomach that needs to heal. As reported by the FDA, it has been known to cause peptic ulcers, stomatitis, hiatal hernia and gastroenteritis, as side effects. If the Zantac isn't helping much, it might be best to see a gastroenterologist, so they can determine exactly what is causing the problem and help you resolve it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## It...
I was in the hospital and they gave me an injection for pain. It started with the letter g. Any ideas? ## Could it be gabapentin? Gabapentin is frequently prescribed for nerve pain, although I'm not exactly certain whether it's currently available in an intravenous dosage form. I did happen to find a clinical study on FDA.gov discussing gabapentin being taken via IV administration at the bottom of page 2 in the following link: accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2009/020235s041.pdf Hopefully this will at least help narrow potential suspects as to what medication you're searching for. I'll be sure to post back if I can think of any other prospects that start with a 'g'. Gabapentin just happens to be one of the more common brand names on the market. ## Thanks,...
gabaneuron was prescribed for severe pain at the last vertibrate ## Gabeneuron contains the active ingredients Gabapentin and Methylcobalamin and is used to treat certain types of nerve pain. However, this is not a conventional analgesic, so it will not work as fast as regular pain relievers, such as narcotics do. It will take a month or so to reach its full effectiveness in the body and see if it helps you. Side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. Learn more: Are there any other questions or comments? ## Is Gabaneuron helpful to diabetic patients? My doctor one tablet daily after dinner. ## i have pain in lower back. I am advised by a doctor to take Gabapentin Tabs. for 60 days. I use sildenafil gel once in a week. Is it advisable to take it when the t...
I am on 100 mg gabapentin and I don't do well with side effects like not being able to sit still or sleep. ## Hello, Doug! How are you? It's odd that it would cause you to have problems sitting still, because it is often used now to treat RLS. It's also known to cause drowsiness as a side effect, by the FDA. Other typical side effects may possibly include nausea, headache and weight gain. How long have you been taking it? Is this the only medication you take?
My elderly mother is prescribed 800 gabapentin 3x daily. She sometimes takes only one or two doses. What effects will this have? ## Hello, MsDeb! How is your mother doing? It is more effective if taken at regular intervals and taking is on such an irregular schedule could cause various side effects, such as mood swings, headaches and increased pain, as reported by the NIH. It isn't actually harmful to do that, but it can cause some annoyances, such as those I listed above. Is she on any other medications?
Gabapentin is for HIV patient only ## Hello, Sam! How are you? No, this medication is actually an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headaches and weight gain. It can be taken by those who do not have HIV, if their doctor prescribes it. Is there anything else I can help with?

I take 600 mg. of gabapentin (3) times a day for nerve pain. For me it has been a miracle drug. I do have difficulty if not almost impossible losing weight and have even gained some. It has been worth the trade off to be able to feel better. Does anyone know how to counteract this? ## Hi Agnes, Sorry to hear about your challenges with Gabapentin. According to the National Library of Medicine, rapid weight gain happens to be a general side effect of this medication. I'm not a doctor, but coming from someone with an athletic background, the best advice I can offer for counteracting it would probably be to follow a strict diet and exercise program. Something that you can commit to as long as you're taking the medication. I would also recommend drinking plenty of water (making that ...
Just released me today from the hospital. I had rapid heartbeats, short of breath, I am 70 years old. I have a pacemaker that I am dependent on. Except for some vitamin deficiency, they could not really find what was wrong. I have been taking 5mg oxycodone 3x a day, some days, only twice, for 4 years. I was at pain management for only 2 months. Today was my third visit.. Straight from the hospital. I was in a lot of pain due to Costrochronditus this month because of the way they gave me a steroid shot in my back. (I had to lay on my chest) The first and second steroid shot didn't work either. I could not take a prendisone pill because of the steroid shot, so I had to take extra pain med. I had called my Pain management and told them that I was going to do that. So I get to the pain ...
