I'm being taken off of Neurontin/Gabapentin after seven years. I'm now crying, anxious, and itching all over! I have tried antihistamines and cortisone creams but with no relief.

I'm sorry doctors are lying to you and saying gaba isn't a bad drug or has no side effects. i went off it 100mg at a time. thank GOD.

My doctor is pulling me off of 3 of my med's @ the same time. Neurontin 3600mg a day, Topamax 100mg a day, and Tizanidine 4mg 3x a day. My workers comp insurance is no longer going to pay for them. Please help me by telling me wht the withdrawals r going to b like. I've been on these med's for over 5 yr's

Hi Im just starting to tapper of gabapentin 3000mg a day for bout 2-3 years. I got mine prescribed for anxiey. Thank god for these forms. My question is can rubbing magnesium oil into body work as well? I ask because I have a stomach condition that might get aggravated taking the pills.

Hi thank you for this. I'm begging to taper and have a stomach illness so taking pill for of magnesium wouldn't be ideal. Would a magnesium oil work?

I have been on 600mg of gabbapentin for sciatic nerve pain for almost a month. I would like to get off of it completely. My pills are 300mg tabs. I take one in the morning and one at night. What is the best way to ween off of this dose with minimal withdrawal? Does the dose and amount of time I have been on this make a difference in how long it will take to get off of it? Thanks

Hi, today is my fourth day that I didn't have my GabaP. I ran out on Thurs and the Dr was unavailable. OMG if I only knew what I was in for!! I feel and have been feeling like the base of my brain is going to explode and my shoulders can barely hold up my head. Why don't these Dr's just give a person automatic refills. It's Rediculous! I have been so close to going to the hospital but I don't want to be admitted I just got out of the hosp for Severe low BP.. Anyone have any advice or words of encouragement? BTW I am Taking GabaP for Epilepsy... :(

Stewey - do you take the magnesium with the Gabapentin or do you take it a few hours before or after Gabapentin?

I use the magnesium oil cuz I have a touchy stomach. Right now I don't use it all the time but I know once I start getting closer to being off of it I will have to use it. I don't think it matters when u take it as long as you take it everyday either morning or night or both

On dialysis, took GABA for 2 weeks, 100mg 3x day. Stopped because dialysis could not filter GABA. Could being on this drug just for two weeks cause withdrawls? Feeling sad, mad, not wanting to live, emotional, and just tired. Are these withdrawl symptoms?

I took gabapentin 100mg x2 twice a day,had awful side effects pee day and nite, now on 3rd day without and anxiety is worse than ever, this is why was given it in 1st place,for me this is a awful drug, how long will this stay in my body,I take very low dose of Xanax , and doesn't seem to help, has anyone had anything like this, how much longer will this last, took for only 7 days

I have been on pain meds for years,trying to stop and withdrawals are horrible,doctor prescribed gabapentin and i swear it works like suboxone.why is this? I don't see any medical reason why the gabapentin helps me stay away from opioids.any ideas?

I was just wondering If you can tell me what brand of magnesium, how many mg and how often I need to take it. I am in this same exact shape you were in. On it for ten yrs. Same dosage. Thank you.

I too am trying to wean off gabapentin....it's pure hell. I take 400 mg daily. I have gotten down to 3 over a 10 day period. I'm afraid to taper down again because of the withdrawals. I've read about magnesium helping withdrawal symptoms.
How much do you take and how often?

I have been on 1200 mg of Gabapentin for years. I take 400 my 3 times a day. My primary Doctor recommended I skip one 400 my dose. I just skipped one of my doses yesterday and one today. I am starting to experience extreme anxiety and last night I didn't sleep, I am scared!! Should I instead taper one of my doses to just 300 mg and keep the other two doses to just 400 mg until my body adjusts and once it's adjusted continue down another 100mg. What would you suggest? Also with the magnesium, how soon do you take it after taking a gabapentin? I do have Epsom salts but can anyone tell me the kind of magnesium supplement I should be on. Please reply to this soon!
