Im in the same situation. I was wondering if you found anyone in the Lawrenceville area? Thanks
My name is Jen I had a sever wreck in 2007 messed my back n pelvis up I'm in server pain constantly I was on Methadone it is the only thing that works. My Dr took my 10mg 5 times a day away to put me on 2 10mg Norcross a day. I need a Dr in the Valley Ophelia Auburn AL area. To give me my methadone back
I have been addicted to opiates since 2003. Previously a patient at a pain clinic and prescribed hydrocodone and oxycontin as well as fentanyl patches. I have chrones disease, RA & suffer from bipolar disorder. I lost my health insurance and was forced to go the Methadone clinic on a daily basis costing me $87 weekly. I have a part time job making only $120 a week. As a single mother it’s no surprise I financially struggle to keep food and shelter for myself and my child. I’ve recently acquired health insurance and would love nothing more than to visit my physician on a monthly basis while being prescribed Methadone or even Suboxone in order to maintain a lifestyle that is certainly healthier, less risky and more financially suited for me. I need a physician that will also address my mental health as well. I’ve been attending daily clip visits for almost a year straight and it’s really putting a HUGE strain on the other obligations I have. Finding a doc would literally save me $400 a month or more not to mention scrounging up rides from anyone I can just to be able to work without being sick. I need a referral for a psychiatrist that’s knowledgeable in this area of maintenance treatment and comfortable assisting me in dual diagnosis at the same time. Please help me! I can’t survive much longer and I’m trying to do the right thing. I need professional help ASAP in or near Macon, Georgia!
Hi Scott...I know this is several months old but maybe this is still relevant. You said you didn't want to go to a clinic bc "they always make you take more than you need." Actually, this isn't so. Most pts report the opposite- that they feel underdosed. Anyway, if you do decide (or have decided) to go the clinic route it just so happens that you are in one of the best states for MMT (Methadone Maintenance Treatment). ..AND I MEAN ONE OF THE BEST. GA has 27 takehomes (of course after a period of time and it also has about 50 clinics statewide. I'm in AL and we have approx 20...which is considered good. Tennessee has maybe 10...and their heavily state-controlled system is not therapeutic at all for their pts (for the most part)...they really have to jump through hoops. Anyway, hope this helps. If you need a clinic in your area, you can go to the 'Clinic Locator' on SAMHSA.gov site. It will show you the clinics listed per each state and will give all contact details.
BEST OF LUCK!
Hi Missy-
I completely understand what you are going through. A lot of patients have a very hard time getting back into pn mgmt after going to a clinic. Once you've been to a clinic, you are labeled as having addiction issues (whether you were on it for pn mgmt or not).
Best of luck to you Missy!
Hi DillonLove- Unfortunately doctors cannot prescribe Methadone for addiction purposes, only for pain mgmt. She can only receive methadone for addiction through a clinic...and GA is one of THE BEST states for MMT clinics (and there are soooo many, at over 50 clinics compared to less than 20 in Alabama). However, she may be able to find a doctor that would Rx Suboxone. Only certain doctors can Rx Suboxone. You can go to the treatment locator on SAMHSA.gov and find all Suboxone doctors and methadone clinics in GA. Sorry she is going through this! Actually, 40% of babies born to mothers on methadone have no withdrawal symptoms and need no medication (I was one of those 40%). Best of luck!
Hi Jen. In Columbus GA, you have 'Private Clinic Columbus.' I'm not going to list the phone # because I don't think this site will allow...but you should be able to find it. Hope this helps love! I wish you luck!
AMP141- If you were an established patient seeing a doctor, why would they have not set you up with a new physician when this dr retired? Most doctors (good ones.. those that care and take their hippocratic oath seriously) with an established practice who retire or move will set their pts up with a new dr- ESPECIALLY pts of a Psychiatrist. If this dr just retired and did not refer you to another, that is just WRONG.
I hope that by now you have found another.
All my best-
Try Dr Joe Matthews @ nexus clinic on Meradith Dr. He gave me methadone 10mg tablets for years. Went every 3 months and got three prescription's. I was referred by my family Dr
BRCA, CAN U HELP ME OUT? ...I have been going to a clinic in TN since 2009; a (LPN) dosing Nurse there started a relationship to get a loan from me so i gave her a loan and after almost a year of dating and dosing at the clinic i had to end it. Since we stopped dating my chart with everything in it has came up missing and they have no idea what happened with it. What is your advice on what to do?
That is YOUR PROBLEM, and MMT means for as long as possible or forever if you wish. Don't sit here and say clinics should make you detox after 3 years. That's ****ing ridiculous. It takes a year for most of us to even get to a stable dose. The fact that you have been there or 7 years is completely on YOU. That clinic didn't say you aren't allowed to detox off, you took your time. If you are ready to get off methadone no clinic will tell you no.
Re: David (# 1)
What about methadone doctors near Lansing, Michigan? I have responsibly been taking pain medication for 6 years. I take both oxymorphone plus methadone and I don't take it recreationally. Since moving back to Michigan two months ago I can't find a doctor willing to write anything. I have 5 bulged discs, 2 of them have ruptured and no one will look at my MRI or my two years of prescription and drug panel showing what my history is. I've been on a medication for 2 weeks now and I'm crawling the walls. The pain and the withdrawal is something I have no desire to keep dealing with.
