I have had back problems since i was in my 20. Now that i am 56 i am on disablity because i can no long work. I have seeing different pain doctors off and on for the past 30 years. Now that i am older the pain is unbarable and i have been going to a pain specialist for the past 4-5 years. Within the past year i have been having a problem every month filling my oxycodone or dilaudid prescription. Now it's at the point where the pharamacy is telling me they dont have just call why i need this medication. First of all they are not my doctor and what gives the right to tell what i should be taking. They don't even know my medical history. Since when do the pharmacies have the right to denied filling a prescription?. They are not doctors? Am i just suppose to go thru withdraw now when they have been filling my prescriptions for years. Can someone give me a answer on what to do PLEASE/

Hi donna. I went on Facebook so I may join. I have never had many issues getting my pain medicine until recently. I have posted my story before, however little background:4 lower back surgeries and spinal cord stimulator implant.Chronic pain pt. since 2004.Same Dr,for last 12 years.Yesterday I went to fill as always(100 mg ms contin 70. and 200 30mg oxy). The Pharmacist on duty put something on my account"good faith"law???that prohibited me filing at ANY walgreens. The manager (which I've known for 3 years) sais that it is not permanent just for that script that day?Have you heard of this? The other pharmacist at a diff. walgreens had it and was all set to fill till he said a notation was on my account. He also thought I was trying to get 400 oxys a mth!! See I fill my morphine 2x a month because of the price.Do you think if I brought my oxy to 180 I would have better chance?Luckly I found my morphine so I can Keep my job.I would like any advice on this "new policy" they told me is in effect as of this month. Thanks

Hi. I was wondering if you knew of some kind of mail order if you don't have insurance? Have been getting my script for oxy30 for 10 years,(also morphine100mg) now all a sudden my walgreens is giving me grief. They are saying some new policy as of 3/2013?I'm not sure if this is true or not .Are you aware of any new policies? I had posted some time ago with my story. I'm to physically and mentally exhausted to say all again. All I can say is that I can't understand who determined that a pharmacist has the power to decide if I will be in pain or not.I would like to just go through the mail and not have to deal with them anymore .I have been with my neurosurgeon for 12years, so he would be happy to do any required paperwork .I hope you or someone else can advise me.Thanks

ron-8000$ dollars? where were you getting them for the past 14 years, the street. the brand since 2000 cash for 120 80mg oxycontin is 1100$-1200$ a month and that was double the standard dose of 60 tabs which would be even chgeaper. thankfully back then i had insurance. but now only pay cash due to lapse in insurance

Hi, I am a 42yr/male - numerous surgeries : reconstructive surgeries (cleft palate/lip) 4 back surgeries (L3-S1, fusions/artificial discs, hardware, incisions in the back & front) & finally- implanted nerve stimulator. I got angry w/ a long-time Rx. I told them that the drugs I am LEGALLY prescribed would be easier to get on the street than in the pharmacy. Please, please, please - politicians, DEA folks, & pharmacies, do your jobs and service the general public that have EVERY right to obtain these drugs. Stop trying to "mommy" me... My prescriptions are given to me because of the MANY hours of time spent in discussion & examination from my MEDICAL DOCTOR. Who in the hell do the "suits" think they are telling me, or my M.D., what I can or cannot put in MY BODY. I bet it would be a lot different if these same individuals had to go through each day in tears because of the agony. Come on people, let the professionals do their jobs.

Thank you, my orignal primary care and pain management said that the neurological is too damaged so i just need to be made comfortable--that there is nothing else to do--too bad the DEA shut him down for something someone in his office did as he was transitioning into retirement---

talk with your doctor and see if he/she will help you with the patient assistance program from PURDUE.
I take the 80mg and if I had to pay for them it would cost me over $8000 a month. It is a prettly simple process and takes about two or three weeks to have it finished. Then you just mail in the scrips and they send it to you by FED EX. I have been doing this way for 14 years. If you have insurance then it won't work. I don't have insurance any longer so I had no choice. GOOD LUCK. if you need to chat about your condition I will be here for you. Just get to me here and I can give you away to get in touch with me.

You can refuse the injections but chances are that you will just end up fired from that PM also. They are not required to treat you. Good luck.

I went to a compounding pharmacy with my script of 20/80 hydro #360 a month. The pharmacist wanted to see my medical records, my doctor called him up and reamed him out saying that he is a pharmacist not a doctor and there is no way he will share my patients private medical records with you. I asked the phamacist if I came in with a script for 129 10/650 would he fill it and he said yes, no problem. So what is the difference with that and my 360? Dumba$$, these pharmacist are wannabe doctors and are on a power trip, this guy went to the U of TN for 4 years in the 70s and thinks he knows what I should be taking, not what my doctor diagnosed me to take.

PM--pain management
DVT --deep vein thrombosis
H'ville--Hendersonville, TN
ok I have been on 30mg oxycodone 4 times a day with morphine er 30mg twice a day, breakthrough got switched to dilaudid 8mg 3 times s day and due to ER visit with subsequent DVT (from dilaudid lethargy)got kicked out of PM--new PM gave me 7.5 Percocet--wtf!!! are they trying to make me violate pain contract?? also gave me a muscle relaxer that not only knocks me out but makes muscles feel like a truck ran over me--doctor said, "oh don't worry, we have injections", I had traumatic incident same time as DVT from injections so why are they trying to give PTSD yes the post traumatic crap, that's how bad it was--can I legally refuse injections and have them give me my usual old dose of 30mg morphine ER and oxycodone?

Maria......i send my script for 210 30mg oxys through the mail to California every month, and I get my meds 4-5 days later. So plz get your facts str8 before you start running your mouth an giving false information to ppl on here who are really looking for help and goood advise. Now, for the ppl on here who are looking for help, the Best thing to do if you have insurance is to go through mail order, most pharmacy's will lie to you once they find out you have insurance, they dnt want to take insurance for oxys because they can charge $8-$10 a pill to cash customers! An the only ones willing to pay that much are the drug dealers!....u.p.s. brings them str8 to your front door so you dnt have to chase the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and waste all that gas driving around...ive never had a problem getting them filled that way...best of luck to all!

maria- no such law. my buddy just got his 480 30mg oxycodone through his same mail order hes been using for years. maybe not allowing new patients or just the mail carrier wont do it. there are some companies that will not do it but there are many that get the mail order. and this was just this week, so that info is not correct, obviously as my buddy just got his. he has blue cross and has had no issues.
you can also threaten to give the dea number to walgreens and they will just laugh at you. they pick and choose who they wanna fill and not fill. simple as that. they dont have to say because of this or that, simply because they dont want to and you will be sol. my advise get a medicine that you can get filled. everything except oxycodone ir is available anywhere. oxycontin, opana, methadone, mscontin, dilaudid. everything so just have the dr switch scripts until you get a pharmacy to do what they did for me and order mine each month

To everyone else..use mail order, its the easiest, and comes str8 to your door via UPS......GUD LUCK MIKE D.

I have had a problem getting any CII meds filled. The pharmacy I have used for 30 yrs refuses. First let me advise you that the DEA does not interfere with filling of legal prescriptions. I spoke to the local investigator and have his number to give my pharmacist. They only need to fear illegal or abnormal amounts of the drug. CVS and Walgreens, now Publix have a corporate policy refusing new patients. It should be noted that if you have a current pharmacist who is refusing to fill a legit medication there is a moral code of conduct these people are to follow. It is against the LAW to refuse to fill the medications and jeopardize our health for a non-existent reason such as fear of being shut down. I am just telling you all what I have been doing. I am in the same situation but plan to return to the pharmacy on Monday with the DEA phone number for the pharmacist. ALSO it is against STATE law to send CII meds into Florida. Don't try as this has left me without original scripts or meds. I am currently waiting for them to be returned.

Hey Beaux
This is aweful! I do not know what to do. You did make me laugh tho with your comment about self medicating with pot as I have been considering moving to a state that has medicinal marijuana. I'm not a huge fan of any man made medications which has put me in the hot seat with the VA to begin with. I despise all those meds such as Lyrica, and I don't know any of the other names as I have not entertained them at all and have said 'No' when suggested. As well as all their pysco-babble to learn how to 'manage the pain' (listening to waterfalls) LOL I told them I hope that none of you are ever in this type of pain and someone tells you to put on a tape of a waterfall. They didn't like that at all. They have refused to prescribe any type of narcotics! Which I believe is inhuman. However I do believe that opium has been around for ages and is the best (natural) pain reliever around when used in moderation.

The DEA has scared most Docs from writing the scripts and left it to the clinics... they don't take Medicare or Medicaid so therefore the pharms with not fill the scripts on insurance... they have become cash as well. Yes, $200 is the average, I believe and the meds run another $200... I don't think that this situation was intended when Florida passed the laws limiting the clinics... now they have a monopoly. They can charge what they want. We are screwed.

I am thinking of going off narcotics and self medicating with pot. It is cheaper!

Hey Thanks for the quick answers. I have tried low doses of oxycodone and hydrocodone from a friend and they work well.
So your saying all clinics are cash only now in Florida? and this will be ok for pharmacies to fill a prescription? I have been quoted from a couple clinics 200 - 350 dollars. Is this the norm? I'm also afraid to pay this kind of money and then the pharmacy won't fill any prescription because of the doctor. I have no insurance, no work, can't work.

If anyone lives in Tampa FL. and knows of a place even a regular Doctor I may prefer that instead anyhow.

Thanks Again
