Fentanyl Withdrawal Symptoms (Page 39)

I'm trying to wean myself off the Fentanyl patch. I went from 75 micro-gms to 50 now I'm on 25. Having a problem and not sure it is related to the decrease in the med. It's been 20 days on the 25 micro-gm and I'm going crazy. I need to keep rocking, moving in any way b/c my body is very restless. Is this a symptom of withdrawal and what do I do? I cannot take it any more.
I have been using fentynal 25 patches for four years recently 50,I have never been able to keep these patches on and am in constant trouble oing back early because i loose so many patches in a month.I went to my doctor to get off them and he put me on df118 which were hopeless as the withdrawels were horific aaand i used a weeks suply[3per day]in two days.my dr sent me to hospital where a doctor, pain speciliast and served a an army suren for three years, decided that he wanted to put me on the medication that the Consultant put me on when he realised te operation on my ulna nerve was not a success and he could not operate again. The drug in questionwas oxinorm/oxicodon.I attended my doctor to have my new prescription given out he would not give it to me as he said I had caused to many problems with the patches[new script was for a combination of oxicodon and oxynorm]which I was on for six days in the hospital and despite not sleeping for 4 nights due to fentynol withdrawles[I was kept in hospital due to an irregular heart beat]Now I am back at home and on df118's again and again up all night with withdrawles from the oxys I reived in hospital.I have no idea what to do now.
Ya, sleepy is what I'm not! So we are on the same page there. I'll bet the acupuncture helps, I did massage and an inversion table. I wish I had bought the sleep number when I had money and a job. My mattress is good, but I need out if this world great. So you have been off it about 2 1/2? Months? It's time for me to try again to see how I am now post injection didn't work and never doing it again pain.
Ok Lil, started in may and by July so you went down 25mcg's a month? That couldn't have been easy unless your system was just sooo used to the 75 it wasn't even working anymore. I'm noticing that day 2 with the patch on is much stronger. I'm thinking right this second Aaaah that I can go down 25 now :) I'm eyeballing the Tylenol pm ok take care I need to figure out a way to relax I've been placing ads on eBay all day. I've listed everything but the kitchen sink and my tail end.
I would be a liar if I said I am not in pain, took me two full months did it myself, also seeing a acupuncture dr. Since may. I was going three days a week now doing twice a week, and recently once. I have on days taken nothing but one percoset or just Tylenol. I have high tolerence to pain and try to get off my feet when I feel it's getting worse thruout the day. I have a temperpedic mattress and it definately helps my back,, sleep on my side with pillow between my lower legs as instructed by dr.. Won't go on fentanyl again unless I can't stand the pain anymore. Was on 75 every other day , never made me sleepy
Lil, 9? Years How long have you been off? How do you feel? Are you pain free or is a lesser amt of a pain killer working now? I don't get any sleeping pills It's been no small feet to just keep me awake most days. I started taking vitamin D and OMEGA XL if you've seen the informercial. I sure hope it works. This fentynal definitely makes me dumber. I'm surprised everyone can still spell in this site. I had to up my patch after the lumbar injections aug 2nd and I was practically or almost off it. I can't win for loosing.
Yes I heard about it, it's great if its not one thing it's another, read about ambien too, pain killers, and dementia, I am glad I am off the fentanyl. Never thought it would happen after being on it 9 years straight.
Hi guys, did you hear about the outbreak from the steroid injections? I know it was in tenn but I can't help but wonder if that batch made it to CA? No one is telling me anything in this town as only one Dr. Does injections in this county.
I picked my 25mcg patches up this morning. While I was at the pharmacy I took my B/P it was 127/87 which is high for me. The same pharmasist was there that called my doc the other day, she asked how i was feeling. I told her pain wise I'm ok, just a little shakey some heart palpitations and according to their machine my B/P was high (I usually run like 90/60). She thinks I'm doing ok, just keep an eye on things. Oh and of course of all weeks my period had to come this week. I feel a little short of breath this morning, but I think that is from the weather change and my asthma trying to act up. Gonna eat something and lay down. Have to pick my youngest up from school at 5 today he has art class after school. Then they go to their Dad's this evening so I can lay back down before work...today should be a good sleep day....yeah!
Hugs,

HERE IS A LITTLE TO PONDER:::Suboxone and subutex both contain buprenorphine, which is also an opiate (a synthetic morphine, to be exact). In essence, buprenorphine is used to suppress the symptoms of withdrawal in patients addicted to opiates such as oxycodone or hydrocodone while having a far less extreme effect on the body. The symptoms of opiate withdrawal are severe and often include anxiety, restlessness, shakes, sweats and/or chills, rapid heart rate, elevated blood pressure, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, body aches, runny nose, and sneezing.
Suboxone also contains naloxone, a drug that blocks the opiate receptors in the brain in order to lessen or prevent the effects of opiates. It is intended to make it harder for addicts to abuse suboxone for its opiate component. Subutex does not contain the additional drug and is not used in outpatient care except under special circumstances, such as an allergy to naloxone. Though it was originally believed that buprenorphine could not be used to produce a high in an opiate-dependent patient, this has now been disproven, and both suboxone and subutex have gained street value among the addict population.
Suboxone, with its added component of abuse protection, was approved for use in outpatient addiction treatment several years ago. Such treatment, as opposed to an inpatient or residential rehab, reduces the impact of addiction by allowing the patient to maintain their normal life while undergoing treatment.
I'm on my 2nd 50mcg patch, so far I'm ok. A little shakey, having a few heart palpitations, but pain wise I am doing fine so far. I am more tired than normal, so I am trying to make sure I get enough sleep. I am making double sure to take my Bi-polar meds and to eat (I don't really feel like eating big meals so I'm eating several small ones). I go pick up my 25mcg patches in the morning, but don't start them until the 5th. Hopefully that transition will go as smoothly.
Angel, I think you can do anything you set your mind to. It just takes determination. I have been working as a Pediatric Home Health Nurse for the last 6 yrs, and I'm on multiple meds (esp since I'm Bi-polar along with the back pain).
I will say a prayer for you. I'm soooo glad I found this group.
Hugs to everyone,
'chelle
Angel, my goodness, what a great position, and by all means, take it. You deserve it and you would be great at it, I can tell just by the things you have shared. Do what you have to do....And I mean it.....DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO.....then maybe you can be some kind of advocate for us that needs the meds. I don't know what the foundation is and what it stands for but maybe with this experience you can either group us together to stand for something or you can guide us as to what we should do to stand up for our rights. My back is hurting so bad right now I could start crying and not stop for a few days....us people that have sever pain needs to stand together to try to change the laws so we don't suffer anymore then we have to. I'm all for anything I can do to help. And with my record of all the things that I have wrong with me, I would make a good candidate. Just whatever I can do, I will.....love and kisses to you, my dear....I am going to call you when I figure out the time difference....
Chelle , Shannon, and NN,
CHECK IN!
Stay in touch, else I will loose my mind.
Went back to 75s. My husband yelled that we had worked for years to get to the medicine that WORKED.
Now, he says, because I am ashamed of taking drugs, I am ruining what worked.
Is he right?
I am still weening off the horrid Pristiq and I want to stop the Prozac already.
How long does the sweating go on and this lethargy??
I know we need the meds for pain but mixing them with other drugs seems to be the real issue for me.
I was just offered the position of Director of the United States for an incredible Foundation. Can I rise up and above the pain to function again at such a high level??
Please, pray for me.
Chelle,
I have been reading all about the "pill mill" bill. It is outrageous!! Some of the legislature on the committee that formed Bill 1 did not even know what a Class III drug was. I understand that your state and Florida had many pill mills which accounted for increased deaths.
But this Bill makes it a felony for a doctor, if he doesn't follow each nitpick step, to give any pain meds unless you have cancer, had surgery or are at end of life.
Chelle, it is an illegal Bill!!
Doesn't the Bill of Rights guarantee us life?
What quality of life do you have in pain?
Can you move out of that stupid state??
Chelle, prayer has been done abd I will continue for all of you. You really shouldn't be made to come off this stuff so quickly your pharm is correct. Even if you need to add a 12mcg, that would definitely help a bit. It worked for me. My pain with 100 was unmanageable and my skin looked like I had a mild sun burn on my belly and legs and light blue on some days from being bed ridden i felt like I was dying. Good luck and Weeler, yes on memory loss not to mention I was definitely dumber. Not that I've had much to work with recently anyways.
Take care everyone.
Shannon
Been trying to inform you about what I learned about us being on fentanyl, sleeping pills , anti depress. Please do some reading on the web under memory loss ..
Well wish me luck. I started my weaning process today. Put on my first 50mcg patch this morning. I did go pick up a copy of my MRI and I ordered a copy of my old MRI. I have made an appointment with my primary MD...not my Worker's Comp Doc, but he can't get me in until the 9th. I trust him though he will be honest with me and tell me if the scan does actually look that much better or if I need to fight like a tiger and get a second opinion with the WC docs...he can also reccomend a doc. I'm still worried about withdrawl between now and then, I guess if I get too bad I will go to the ER. I have already warned my teenage boys that I may be more irriatable for awhile. I'm a Home Health care nurse and the family I work for is being great, I told the mom I would try to work but if I was to bad I would have to call off. I wouldn't want to try to take care of her baby if I was in full fledge withdrawl. Maybe I'll be lucky and everything will be fine. The Pharmasist was concerned with how fast he is weaning me...she called to see if she could give me 5 patches of both the 50mcg and 25mcg instead of just 2 of each, he said 'No'. I don't think this is what House Bill 1 is supposed to do. I read over the Bill. I have already jumped through all of the hoops in this crazy Bill. Right up to the drug test to test for the drug in your system, more frequent visits, already tried all the lesser drugs and physical therapy, and a TENS unit....just not understanding how government can decide who is in pain and who isn't.
Those of you that believe in a higher power please say a prayer for me.
Thanks everyone for listening.
Keep on keeping on!
Hugs,
'chelle
For all to read just saw a news report about pain drugs, ambien , it links to dementia. Go to Worstpills.org - makes me never want to take any more drugs. My mother has dementia and I will tell you first hand it's a horrible disease.. She is in a facility not a nursing home, but a dementia unit. She's in a wheel chair now and does not talk.. Was always healthy no diseases, no meds but has dementia and lost her over 4 years ago.. The longest goodbye. I feel like throwing all my sleeping pills, and pain meds in the garbage..
Shannon,
Bella, Bella!!!
They would shout that at us models in Italy.
Now I call you two beautiful also. You are a magnificent soul. All throughout history, we know people have suffered. The great minds, artists, writers, queens, and slaves.
You are not alone. I cry with you and for you. We are together. We can share what we can not tell others.
Yell, scream, cry. I will listen.
Take the pills you need to survive. I will never judge you.
Because people who have never suffered in agony do not know that there are worse things to fear than death. I do not want to die yet. I believe that I will get off these damn antidepressants and stop sweating, shaking, feeling sluggish, and having brain fog.
I believe.
We need to hope for a remission in the craziness. Whether it is caused by too much or too little of a neuro chemical we need.
Hang on to this Angel.
Shannon and NN do just one happy thing for yourself a day. Sit in Gods sun. Write or call me.
Rise up like the Phoenix from the ashes.
Tell me how I can help?
Love You!
Angel and Nanny, we are so in the same boat. Now i have crps? Pre mature arthritus in my backa and Is from the injections. I cant take those anti depeessants but i really need to get a grip on this crying. I hate mean ppl. Heaven is so not ready for us and hells affraid we will take over. I just ordered from a late nite informational this really good Omega 3 its supposed to be a great and beast quality. It will help with inflamation and my embarassing bouts with crying. It supposed to help with emotions, clarity and severe pain including nerve. Its so bad i cry infront of strangers doctors and ppl that really do not like me its embarassing I get 90 day money back a free bottle and a friend gets the same deal plus a $40 ck uf a friend tries it too. Even my 18 yr old cat can take it. Google rds? And crps? Thats what i think we all have some form of. Feel ok today so no brownie coma needed tonight :) take care everyone don't just "hang" in there feel better have a drink and i hope eveeyones mood feels better. Im sorry i havent emailed you but im either sleeping or laying down I GARDENED a bit yesterday :) lifes simple pleasures as rare as they are. We are stronger than the hypocrites that really dont understand or give a crap because belittling abd putting others down makes far to many ppl feel superior lol superior to a bed ridden pill popping lady with no life and very few friends. Friendship takes nurturing, time, and some lucidity. I have time just no substance in the time i have Im lonely......random strangers are the best. A recent poll said over 85% would rather have 100 aquaintances than one genuine friend. Seriously? How vain are we really?
STOP IT RIGHT NOW!!
This is an ANGEL telling you I have been exactly exactly where YOU ARE!
ONLY YOU CAN HELP YOURSELF !
When you are in that much pain you MUST GET RELIEF!
WHY?
I believe very seriously that when I went for 6 months with NO PAIN RELIEF before my total right hip replacement that I lost some part of my mind.
I lay 24/7 in agony....agony so bad I too contemplated suicide. 189 days of crying and moaning.
I can not come back from the trauma.
GO
GO NOW AND TAKE THE MEDS.
GET AN APPT FOR SOMETHING STRONGER.
We are not addicts here. We are not junkies. We NEED these meds to live a decent life.
Don't listen to anyone. Don't TELL anyone what you take. It's your business.
I will talk to you anytime. This weekend if it is critical, you call.
I care.
