Fentanyl Withdrawal Symptoms (Page 35)

Updated

I'm trying to wean myself off the Fentanyl patch. I went from 75 micro-gms to 50 now I'm on 25. Having a problem and not sure it is related to the decrease in the med. It's been 20 days on the 25 micro-gm and I'm going crazy. I need to keep rocking, moving in any way b/c my body is very restless. Is this a symptom of withdrawal and what do I do? I cannot take it any more.

I have asked before but nobody has replied. I would like to know how long the painful lower pelvic cramps and backache lasts for because I stopped taking all meds a month ago and it seems like it is getting worse not better can someone please send me a message or answer this because I feel like I can't take much more of this. I was on 200 fentanyl and weaned down to 100 and quit cold turkey from there and the only thing that saved me from the restlessness that people talk about is that I have restless legs syndrome so I was already taking something for that but I would appreciate any advice from people on this forum,
Thank-you

Too long,
I replied to you on 4/26. Know-one can give you an exact date. You were on a high dosage at first. Just because you went to 100 then stopped doesn't mean the 200 mg is out of your system. It will take you longer.
Give it a good 2-3 more months.
Hopefully, others will reply as well.

too long:: The higher the amount and the longer you had used the patch the longer you will be in withdrawals. The med in the patch is absorbed in the fatty tissue of your body and it takes a long time for it to desolve out of the fat, or that is what my addiction doctor informed my a week ago. I was just on 75mcg for a little over a year but I was also taking other pain meds with them. It has been nearly 3 months that I wore my last patch but I have had other stuff in my system so I can't really tell you I am completely over the patch. The doc said that I will still go through some things that will make me uncomfortable. Hell, that means I am still in withdrawals as far as I'm concerned. The only thing I do know is that I hurt worse now than I did before I started using the patch and if a doc ever comes at me with a script of patches it will be hell to pay for them cause I will hit them right between the eyes (and go to jail doing it with a smile on my face). This is the worse, evilist, degrading, disrespectful drug I have ever done, and that is the way it made me fill at times. Good luck and the worse is nearly over with so hang in there and please don't give up....We care....

Etienne...How I really feel about patches??? Well, don't get me wrong, in a way I loved them and how they made me feel no pain. But, I had a lot of bad experiences with them too. I would have to be honest and say that only God knows how I really feel about them. He was the one that helped me the most when I was coming off them. And He will be the one that will help me stay off them. Never again will I use a patch, maybe other stuff but never a patch. Never, never, never, hell no, not even a chance....NO. And that's the rest of the story....lol Etienne, How do you really feel about them? :)......(maybe if you paid me a million dollars, I might)lol

I'm with u nuttynanny. If a doctor asks me to try another patch I'm going to leave my religion outside the doctors office and probably meet you in prison :)
It takes a lot of will power to get this demon out of your system. I keep telling others, ad yourself, to be patient.
There's not a lot that can be done except add more
Drugs on top of drugs and that's not good.
Keep the faith, future cell mate :)

Going outside and doing any kind of physical activity will help, it will also help with any kind of anxiety or depression you may also be feeling. Don't go into it thinking you will have miraculous results, but you should notice a change for the better. I also read about listening to music that you like, mentally this will help, it did with me. the key is listen to a song or songs that you like, it isn't so much the type of music, it just has to be music YOU like. Again these aren't quick response and super awsome cures, but it helps, and if you feel the way I do, any little bit helps. keep at it and don't give up, I am still using my patches but I am working on reducing the intake. Stay strong, these are tough battles, but you can win.

Thanks for the support weeler. I feel a lot better now that I'm exercising. I'm not doing much but it takes my mind off my ailments for a while. I'll take any relief I can get. I'm walking every day with a bad back and arthritis and mentally I feel better. Even though I was told physically I'll never recover I will do what I have to to feel better.
So please you guys try something. Weeler makes a lot
of sense.

It has been more than a month since I quit the fentanyl among other opiates and I still have severe cramps and backache. I went to the docs and he gave me cesamet. What a nob I was so stoned I just wanted to sit around. Anyone else's cramps last so long?????????????

Etienne I was hoping for a shorter period of time than that but thanks, I am suppose to be going into a program and it might take a few more weeks, Do you think some tylenol 3 would help or make it worse?

Hey Etienne, weeler and loo long, and all others...I do feel better when I get some exercise. My problem is when I get through, boy does it make me feel bad. Too bad you can't exercise 24/7. I know one thing I HAVE to quit and that is smoking. I was feeling pretty good until I smoke, then my heart starts fluttering and I get so out of breath. That was the most stupid thing I have ever done, start smoking. It was only 10 years ago that I first smoked a cigarette. I also need to quit feeling sorry for myself when things don't go just like I want them to go. As for patience....it went out the door so many years ago. I have always been a "I want it when I want it and I want it now" kinda person. I sorta fault my parents and 3 brothers for that. I was the only girl and the belle of the ball. Attention, attention, attention...I always demanded it. Now I just want to hide in a hole and attract no attention (don't look at me, I have a guilty conscious syndrome). Gosh, I'm a crazy, stupid female....rambling on and on and on....

Hi all,
Too long, no one can tell you what to take ro mKe u feel better. You have to try it and see. I can't take certain OTC medications because I'm allergic to ibuprofen. Withdrawals from drugs isnt pain, it's the most uncomfortable feelin one can have.
Nuttynanny, yes exercise is good. Actually, I just left the gym. I hate going but I'm trying anything and everything that is non drug related. As far as smoking, bad girl, that alone can make you depressed. I had 3 relatives pass away from smoking and my best friend just stopped because she developed emphazima. I know all of us have skeletons in our closet but that's one habit you really need to stop. One day at a time.
You know I love you in Christ when I say this but, stop making excuses. :)
can't blame your parents, the kids or the dog or hamsters. God made us all individuals an we have to think for ourselves. I blamed my parents for years for my hell but one day someone told me to take responsibilty for my own actions and stop dwelling in the past.
Do you know that when you think negative thoughts you feel negative? I would walk around the house saying why am I here? What's my purpose in life? I hate myself, I wish I was dead. I tried to find positive friends but I don't think they exist :) I had to stop relying on others and rely on myself. People will ALWAYS let you down if you let them.
I'm no expert and I still have my evils in my life but im trying to control them one day at a time. No miracles in my life just trials and tribulations followed by positive thoughts. For me it's seeing the Lord again when I pass on. Sounds morbid but het it's working for me. Whatever it takes to make it through the day, right?

Thank you for replying and I couldn't take the pain anymore so he gave me some cesamet which I hated, I don't smoke dope so I have thrown those out and I went back and he gave me some tylenol #4 which really helped the cramps and backache but I am out now and I can't believe how severe these cramps are. I am so stupid to have just stopped but there is no going back now, this place I am supposed to be going to you can't smoke or take anything so I have to get it out of my body. I am way to tired to do exercising. Does anyone feel like they are stoned because you are so straight that reality feels strange?

Etienne, I am trying to quit smoking. What I do , I wait at least 2 hours afterI feel like I need to smoke, then I am going to start cutting that down. I figured that I would put 5 in a box for a day and when they are gone that would be it for the day. Then I will start cutting them down by 1 a day till I can quit. This is harder than quiting drugs. I guess because they are legal. Well, all my heart test came out ok, I'm just stressed out the doc said. He gave me some pointers on destressing. I think I just need to get away for about a week all by myself, without kids esp. the disrespectful teens we have here. They have gotten better since I pitched my little fit. How are you feeling today???? It is so pretty out today after 3 days of steady rain. Ya'll all have a good day and hope everyone is doing good. Love and kisses.....

Nuttynanny,
I am so happy you're tests were negative but stress also can hurt you ad you well know. Kids can make a normal person go insane :)
How am I feeling these days? Ok. I'm trying to think positive, I still har pain everywhere, arthritis is in my shoulders now so it's tough for me to use a cane.
The ringing in my ear has gotten worse but I'm trying not to let it get me down.
I framed my fentynal patches and I look at that everyday to remind myself how bad I felt when on it.
I keep getting emails about s lawsuit for people on fentynal, to be honest I didn't read the entire lawsuit.
Too long, how are you feeling?
Well my friends it's time to go let the dogs outside to destroy my yard :)
Love you guys.
PS, nuttynanny, keep cutting down those cigarettes. Sounds like you have a system that works. Just know when times get tough, and they will, cigarettes isn't the answer.
Stay on those kids so the know who's boss. :)

Etienne, too long, Shannon, and all else who is going through tough times with getting off the Fentanyl Patches. Thank you so much for the boost. I just love you so much, you are really a very kind, concerning person. I know you are in some pain with the ole arthir eating at you and I feel so for you. I do have a good system going to try to quit smoking. It's just I have to stick with it and not let things get to me so much. I have to learn to pick my battles and not jump every time the little things get in my way. Easier said than done but have to do it or die. I do want to know more about the ringing in your ears....it drives me insane. There is suppose to be something out that the docs can give you to stop them from ringing so loud and I am going to see about this when I go for my appointment. I will let you know what they give me and what the cost will be. Maybe both will benefit together. I wish I could do something for you to help you....If I lived closer I would come clean your house and your yard and give you a rest. Maybe give you some massages. My ex said I gave great massages on their backs. About the lawsuit...let me know, we may benefit with having a class action suit rather than going at it alone. It's bad if one is hurt, but better if it is more. Have you ever heard of Judge Roy Moore, the ten commandments judge?? He was a Chief Justice of the Alabama State Superime Court. That is a very close cousin of mine. He will help me with anything I need. Well I have to go iron my daughters scrubs so she can go to work. This is her long week. I'm so proud of her for going to college and making something of herself. She loves her job...and that makes a difference. Love and kisses to all and to you esp. Etienne...Hope you get to feeling better and don't let the dogs mess up your yard too bad..

Hi all, where's Shannon?
Hope everyone that's been reading all the messages is feeling some relief from the dreaded patch from hell.
If anyone is still feeling irritable it will pass. Take it slow.
Nuttynanny, the ear ringing I'm having is annoying and it is throwing off my equilibrium. Im forgetting so much and I can't stand loud noise or driving at night. There is an OTC called lipo-flavonoid that's supposed to help in about 3 months after taking it but you have to take a total of 6 pills a day after a meal and I don't eat that much. I'm sick of pills. I had bought it then took it back. I think my anti-depressant is causing it. That is an effect with cymbalta. I have to make an appointment with another doctor and see if I can switch to something else. 8 years on this at 120mg a day. :(
I really hope everyone is doing well. I'll try to look
Ore into that lawsuit for the patch when I feel better mentally. Let's say 30 years from now.
Take care everyone and stay strong.

I am currently on the Fentanyl patch 50 mg and have decided to wean myself off these since my doctor has refused to. After reading these post, I am scared to death of all the withdrawals that are coming, however I refuse to be dependent on medications. I have another dr. That has agreeded to help me get off the patches. I currently change the patch every two days( dr. Ordered). I am going to drop to 25 starting tomorrow, do this for 2 weeks and then drop to 12 mg. for two weeks, then drop to 6 mg after that. Is this too fast to withdraw? Please give any suggestions.

I was once on the duragesic patch (fetanyl) 75 micro grams/day and changed the patch every 3 days to prevent migraine headaches. I took myself off the patch and the withdrawals were not easy. I was restless and noticed it was more of a mental withdrawal than anything. So I kept my patch on for 5 days then change it. I drank a lot of water and went jogging to help flush the drug from my system faster. I feel better with out the meds I was on. I have been migraine free for over a year where before I was in the hospital 347/days out of 365 getting shots of dilaudid/fetanyl/phenergan either in my muscle or IV.
