I'm trying to wean myself off the Fentanyl patch. I went from 75 micro-gms to 50 now I'm on 25. Having a problem and not sure it is related to the decrease in the med. It's been 20 days on the 25 micro-gm and I'm going crazy. I need to keep rocking, moving in any way b/c my body is very restless. Is this a symptom of withdrawal and what do I do? I cannot take it any more.

Lilred4, went back and got a script for the 50mcgs and can't get them filled till the 7th of next month, and still nothing for breakthrough. I have to have an epidiurel on the 6th, so what the heck am I suppose to do after I have that with the pain that comes with them???? God, I didn't want to go back on these patches. But I have to have some kind of relief and they told me if I would go back on the patches that they would give me the oxycodone for breakthrough. That is the only thing I have ever took that helped me. The only thing. And I have tried everything. I am allergic to morphine so that is out of the question......what the heck am I suppose to do now????? Any suggestions, anyone. I am dying.....

Nutty nanny, sorry to hear your having so many problems. Advise if you go back to the office don't cause a scene but calmly ask to speak to doctor as they were the ones you spoke to .. Yelling will just get you into trouble., I can't believe you waited three hours to get the script to begin with., I would have walked back to the person you spoke to after a few minutes while it was fresh in their head. Wish you all the best.

Angel, thanks for the kind words, it's windy now and so far the trees blowing, I have tv on and watching the news,, hopefully my trees will stand but, ..who knows, peanut butter going to be our meals for awhile if we loose power.. They saying this storm is going to be till Wednesday..

Well hey everyone, I guess you all thought I got lost. I really did. I got my brother in a place, finally. Now I think I need to find one for myself. Not really. I have been taking my oxycodone and it has been helping me. The doc had me taking them 4 times a day and I started going back to my pain doc last week and guess what??? The doc asst. said he don't prescribe oxys anymore. WTF...... now what am I going to do?? They gave me back the 25 mcg patch but does that touch the pain?? Hell no, not even close. Now i'm out of my oxys and only have a couple of patches left. I told them I did not want back on the patch, but would go back on it if I could get the oxys for breakthrough pain. She agreed. Well she told me to wait in the waiting room for my scripts and after three hours and bugging the crap out of them they brought me only a script for 5 patches, and said to call in a couple of days to see how they were doing. Not a dang thang for breakthrough. And the smart ass nurse told me that the doc asst did not tell me that the doc would give them to me. I know what I heard and I raised hell for a min but it did no good. So tomorrow I am going to go over there if I have to and get the 50mcg for every other day like I use to take them. I still don't want to go back on them. Them people have not seen crazy yet. I just came out of prison with a 30 year sentence, and stll have about 18 years to go before I come off of parol. Don't get the wrong idea, i did not do anything bad, just gave a so called fried an 80 mg oxycotin and got a thirty year sentence for that lame ass bull....I just took my muscle relaxer and an ambian so I might not start making any sence. But I'm still ,take that back, i think i need to go to bed. but i am so pissed at that nurse, she didn't hear what me and that doc asst. talked about . Now I'm out of my klonipin along with some of my others.....wht to do, what to do, what to do??????????? Glad everyone is doing a little better, or not...I just know that you can't save the world....my eyes are crossing so it's night ,night time and hugs and kisses and love to all, promise to be back.....

Shannon, just letting all know we are bracing for the big hurricane sandy,, I am right on the south shore of Long Island will probably loose electricity, hopefully my big old oak trees will stay nice and tall like they have for over 100 plus years already.. Will try and let everyone know how things are.. Everything hurts today with the dampness coming.. My back is stiff, my knee hurts lol otherwise I am the picture of health.. Hope all are dealing and ready for the storm that they are saying going to be a horror.. Subways, buses will not be running,, they want everyone staying home,, or leaving coastal area like me.. But I am choosing to ride out the storm,be safe!

I'm here, feeling lots of pain the last 2 days and dizzyer. Yes, please do. Tsunami warning for the next 2 hrs. I'm sure we will be fine. Probably better than the east coast right now.

i've heard from everyone it takes a yr or more to recover from a lumbar fusion. Most people still have pain afterward. i wish she would listen to you.

There is much more success with the disc replacement surgery that i was trying to get a few yrs ago. Recovery time is much shorter....only a few weeks. Surgery is much less invasive.

I tried and tried and tried today to tell her NOT TO HAVE THE FUSION SURGERY ON HER BACK!

She is already in Vegas and they do it tomorrow.

It is just out of my hands and in Gods now.

Chelle, I would not recommend any lower back fusion, I had mine a hospital special surgery, chief dr and still left me in a fist full of pain chronic. Angel ! Please think about not helping your blood family member as you know it will only hurt you more., she won't be in any shape in three weeks, my god it took me a year to recover and feel like myself and that was still in pain but had to learn how to walk without a walker,, I was a PE teacher so I was always active, sports , exercise, I powered walked for years almost everyday until my surgery,, now I can't walk long distances even now without my pain making me stop.. You better tell her you can't do it..have learned to say no to people

SHE is my crazy cousin who somehow has it in her head that after she spends three weeks in a rehab center in Vegas, I am going to fly out or drive out and take her to their condo in Tucson where I will nurse her.

ME.

She is blood, I love her but I can barely help myself most days.

My ex husband had a cervical fusion done yrs ago. They took bone from his hip. He has done really well, but i think it is probably an easier surgery than a lower back fusion. Most people i have heard of having lower back fusions don't do well.

i hope your friend does better.

I had spine fusion l5s1 and would not recommend it unless there is no choice,, I still have pain cause they do take bone from the hip area I believe and get pain in that area all the time.. On top of that it puts more pressure on the upper discs ,which they are now saying I need more which I am not going to do. My cousin had the fusion in Vegas where she lives and now she is no better off than before .. Would not recommend fusion!

Thank heavens! I hope your doc whom I thought you said was out of state, will get you pain relief.

I recently took someone's case to the CDC. Then I intend to take it to her state's medical review board or higher.
Have any of you had a lumbar fusion? Would you recommend it? My cousin- out of the blue- is flying to Vegas where a famous surgeon will fuse S1-L4.

Now Nana, don't make me have to call you!!

Yippie! Finally got the 'Ok' from WC to go to my Fam Doc. Of course they have known since last week and just didn't call me.....argh! I have an appt set up on Nov 6th. Yep election day...I'll have to go vote first, because my appt is mid-day. I will be there forever. That's the only thing I hate about going to him. He has a form of Aspberger's....he is so smart, but he gets so involved with every patient that he is ALWAYS running behind. I love him though. He is always up on the newest treatments and meds...etc. I used to work with him yrs ago at the Hosp. He treats my boys now too.

Angel I am so with you....I think some of these Doc, WC workers, and definetely lawmakers need to walk a few days or maybe a month or two in Our shoes. I guarantee things like 'House Bill 1' would not exist if they did.

Just want everyone to know that the new law that hit Ky will probably be passed in In soon. It is all over the papers. My Fam Doc is getting prepared for it. He won't prescribe narcs long term anymore....he refers out to pain management doc. His office also has gone to emailing most prescriptions to your pharmacy instead of written scripts. Less chance of people altering them. He says it might even hit OH.

If you want to read it.....google ....House Bill 1 in KY. It causes docs to be able to have some kind of documented proof of patient's pain, and to be liable to reporting agency. My pain management doc said their was tons of paperwork to be filled out on each patient along with all the electronic checks that had to be done. The complaint of pain is not enough anymore....must have X-Ray, MRI, or some other test to back it up. If the DEA pulls that chart, your doc has to be able to show tangible evidence as to why he is prescribing you narcotics long term in order to keep his license. It simply makes the liability too high on these docs that want to help us.

Ok off my soap box. Angel I hope you are able to affect some change. I would definetely support it.I know my pain management doc fought this law tooth and nail. He pretty much is just going to do epidurals now.

Yeah, I am here in Central Florida but originally N.Y. We don't get much cold weather here thank God. But it does get cool and down right cold sometimes. But it storms like crazy in the summer. I can tell when we are getting one. And if there is a tropical system or hurricane around, I KNOW IT!!! When its cold here I suffer big time when the system rolls through! I usually hunker down in bed and STAY THERE until it passes. Meds don't help.. Nothing except a massage if I am lucky enough to have someone around to give me one. Hope you feel better

I said it first out loud, Giiillllll :) you didn't abandon us too. Glad your back. Is nanny OK? It's been a while. It poured here last night and now I can't walk. Isn't that a trip? Pharm staff can't figure why it's so busy some days. I have to remind everyone ,it dropped into the 40's last night or froze or rained. I know... In in CALI think of me as a Sherpa I'm acclimated to warn but my illness's have me craving freezing Somedays. Ok, bye for now.
