Extreme Fatigue On Xarelto (Page 2)

Hello,
Hope someone can help. I've been hitting a wall of fatigue everyday about 1pm to the point where I need to take a 2 hour nap when my daughter is napping and its painful to wake up even after that. I take Xarelto everyday with dinner to treat a DVT. I've been on it 4 months. Is this a known side effect? I tested my theory when I started to realize this began after taking Xarelto and skipped a dose one evening. The following day I didn't need a nap and didnt have that same debilitating exhaustion. I'm only 34 this is no time to be this tired after a full nights sleep! It feels like a crash, an unnatural exhaustion. Thanks!
I was on Xarelto for 6months following PE. PE leaves you exhausted with little energy, but it was extreme by 6 months. My hematologist switched me to Pradaxa & 72 hours later, it was like a miracle(!) - felt like myself for the first time since the PE.
The same problem, I am normally very active and can not sit for long periods of time. I had surgery on my ankle and they discovered I had a blood clot in my leg. I can not believe how tired I am.
I am a 38 year old male in good health. I exercise regularly. After being prescribed Xarelto due to a DVT in my calf, I noticed that I had a persistent feeling of dry mouth. I increased my water intake to about 120 oz a day. I would notice cramping in my legs sometimes when running but it would generally subsist after rest. I also noIticed that my stomach has a distended look since taking Xarelto. I recently started employment with the local police department and was hospitalized with rhabdomyolysis after only one day a physical training which was not actually that difficult. I could not figure out why my legs felt so heavy in the muscles were so sore and would not move. I was sent to the hospital I'm diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis with Ketone levels as high as 49,000. Has anybody else experienced Rhabdomyolysis while taking Xarelto?
Re: Verwon (# 1)
Do you know of this med can cause tiredness and emotional probs?
Re: typeone (# 4)
I appreciate everyone sharing their experiences with Xerelto. I had shoulder surgery and developed blood clots. I am very active with weights and running, until now. I am through my second week and feel so exhausted. I need a nap everyday and feel like I have the flu.
Hi. I was wondering how long you can be on Xarelto. My cardiologist prescribed me 20 mg for the rest of my life for treatment of Afib. I'm a 48 year old female.
Hi I had dvt in my shoulder because the vein and artery in my chest are being pinched between my top right rib and my pectoral muscle can’t have an operation to rectify the problem as it’s to dangerous as the specialist explained so I’ve got to take anticoagulants for the rest of my life or until they can find a way to sort the problem im on rivaroxaban 20mg and I’m so tired it’s unreal to the point where it’s causing complications at home with my family hope someone could help with this
Re: Jimmy2shirts (# 36)
Xarelto caused extreme fatigue for me, too. I'm back on old-fashioned blood thinners and I feel 1 million times better.
Taking xarelto for about 3 weeks now.
53.9 yrs old. Take it at 6:30 every morning, come 1 Oclock I could fall out of my chair and almost have, always nodding off and getting some head aches.
Taking it due to AFIBS.
Under the care of my doctor, I have switched back to Warfarin after 1.5 years on Xarelto. It's been six weeks now - first bit I felt better - but now I'm having fatigue, nausea, joint aches and headaches... Can this be withdrawal? If so, when might I feel better!?
Hi everyone this is Craig.now that I've been off Carleton for about 6 months getting better but this drugs takes a toll on your body in every aspect.I actually made my doctor take me off the drug.my clot was just about gone.
There are natural blood thinners, I have a clotting disorder and used a combination of a few. I knew they were working because the leg I had DVTs in stoppee hurting and my gums bled a little when I brushed my teeth. Try looking into Gingko Biloba, Cayenne Supplements.. also Butchers Broom for swelling from DVTs. Ginger root also thins the blood, and Garlic has circulation benefits.
I am currently on Xarelto for DVT after fracturing my ankle. Had I continued taking those supplements... I can guarantee I would not be on this blood thinner. I am always exhausted with it myself.
Take care.
I must say reading this thread has eased some of my worries, but as a single mum of three... My youngest being two.. I cannot stay on this medication with exhaustion to this extreme!
I'm hoping someone listens to me as I will be handing the packet to doctor next visit and telling them to change it, I can't chance this when kids go back to school
I've been on Xarelto for about a month and having fatigue that is getting worse. My husband seems more troubled about it that I am. I just feel too tired to really care about it. But I rarely cook dinner any more - until a couple weeks ago I cooked every evening. Just too tired now.
Hi Craig- have you continued to improve?
I hope so!
Since I wrote my post in January my CF dr strongly advised me to stick with the Xarelto.
I'm exhausted in pain and feeling bad.
Family doc is switching me back to warfarin; last dose of Xarelto was yesterday.
Hope I get my life back. :)
I had a TKR 17 days ago and am doing a round of Xeralto to prevent DVT. Since starting it, I am exhausted, emotional, no energy period. Even physical therapy wears me out for 24 hours. From what I have read, Xeralto can and does cause extreme fatigue, anxiety and troubled sleep.
Sine I was on xarelto for 17 months many problems from weight gain muscle pain dizzy and the list goes qn so the doctor yesterday took me off xarelto because of med conflicts now on baby asprin and starting to feel great all I can say is to get off aS soon as possible this drug is bad news
Hi Beth and everyone else in this post, I have cystic fibrosis and had a blood clot in my lung in 2014 and I'm told I will be on blood thinners for life. I have been on Xarelto since last February and I feel like I am dying. My quality-of-life is nonexistent… I have to struggle to keep up with basic personal hygiene at this point. I have gained 20 pounds it doesn't matter how much rest I get I still feel exhausted – I wake up feeling like there is dirt in my mouth. Dr. say fatigue is not likely caused by Xarelto and I likely just have a mild case of depression or seasonal affective disorder. I am desperate and I feel so angry that the word fatigue is used because this feels like my body is failing.
I've been on xarelto for 17 months now for a dvt in right leg.so far I gained over 25 pounds every muscle in my body hurts. Now im experience brain fog / low lying headaches and severe calf cramps .this drug is ruining my life
Found your post as hunting to find out if alone on exhaustion on Xarelto.. but exactly same story.. on a 6 month course of Xarelto after small blood clots in the lungs from DVT equivalent in calf muscles after long hot, cramped drive on a holiday journey ..
Active, small holder life and tennis playing .. eye-lid dropping tiredness, and often grabbing a nap for 2 hours in the afternoon, and tired afterewards, also after a good night sleep. Worried it might be diabetes-like tiredness, or exacerbated if drinking alcohol - which I find does happen, taking 4 days no drink, followed by some wine and beer over a weekend. But, in summary sounds like this lethergy and aching just happens with the drug, have to let it do its work, and improve once the course is run. Thank you for all posts. Good to find.
