Effient - Stopping Treatment

I've been taking 5 mg Effient for approximately five years. Yesterday I was told by my cardiologist to stop taking these pills... somehow I feel nervous about this decision. Are there any thoughts on this?

It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions. Why was it prescribed and why did your cardiologist tell you to stop taking it?

Are you on any other medications?

Effient, which contains the active ingredient Prasugrel, is used prevent blood clots that may result in a fatal heart attack. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nosebleeds, chest pain, easy bruising, and trouble breathing. NDC code: 0002-5121

However, not everyone has to take such a medication for their rest of their lives, some people can stop them, after a certain period of time.

Regarding Effient... as I said my cardiologist said it was safe to stop taking this medicine
I have been on it for seven years and he said I can take a low dose aspirin.... I probably will follow his advice because I trust him!
It was my fear that held me back!! Thank you for your interest in my.problem.
