Is it ok to take 1 musinex dm in the morning with effexor xr 150 I have a cold ## Hello, Taffy! How are you? No, these should not be taken together, because the Dextromethorphan in the Mucinex DM can elevate the levels of serotonin. That coupled with the Effexor creates the risk of your developing serotonin syndrome, which can be fatal. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Effexor as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. It would be best to ask your doctor what would be safe for you to take. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can divalproex sod dr 250mg be used to treat extreme anxiety? I need to know because this specialist I have been seeing can't seem to get my medicine right and I kept having to try different ones... Also I have OCD (my OCD is over germs) I have had it for 14yrs and they have me on Effexor xr 75mg again... So I was hoping what would be a good medicine to be on for my OCD also... Been through a lot of different medicine for my OCD too... So I hope to hear back from you guys... Thank you ## Hello, Lynn! How are you? Yes, it can be used to treat some mood disorders. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, hair loss and tinnitus. However, there's now way to know specifically, if it will or will not help you. The only thing you can do ...

I started taking Effexor yesterday. 75mg twice a day. I immediately started feeling nauseated. I also felt very anxious. I googled it and came across these message boards filled with horror stories about the side effects and God-forbid if you try to wean yourself off of it. My question is since I've only been taking it for 2 days, will i have the horrible side effects if I stop taking it? I should have done research on it before I started taking it. I usually do. But this time I was just so desperate for something to help with my depression. ## Hello, Teacakesbabe! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you had. The FDA classifies Effexor as an SNRI antidepressant and what you experienced are typical side effects that can be experienced by someone just starting it, along ...

I have been completely off of Effexor for almost 7 weeks now after only taking it for a little over a month. The more intense withdrawal effects, such as brain zaps, dizziness, nausea, etc. have passed but I am still having some weird cognitive issues. My memory seems to only be at about 50% of what it usually is, I'm having a really hard time focusing on things, it feels like I can't translate my thoughts into words and I generally feel emotionally "flat." Will this pass with more time? Is this common for Effexor withdrawal? I was taking Effexor for a bout of insomnia that I believed to be anxiety-related. I am not depressed. ## Yes, this type of withdrawal effect is very common. When I stopped Zoloft, a few years ago, after being on it for about 6 years, it took about ...

I've been on brentillix for about 3 weeks. It HSS been a God send, up until about a week ago. I woke up with s severe headache that had literally lasted all week and, no OTC pain meds have worked. Also, the med is insanely expensive! Talked to my Doc and he called in the generic of Effexor. Will it work the as well for the depression/anxiety as the Brentillix did? Reading this forum has caused me to be really discouraged. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! ## Hello, Lamb chop! How are you? Effexor contains the active ingredient Venlafaxine, it is an SNRI, so it's a little different than the Brintellix, but still similar. It is approved by the FDA to treat depression and anxiety, it's successfully helped many people. It's typical side effects are listed as possibly...

I need a doctore that will help me what i really need is either lorazapam or klonopin i practiacally live in my bathroom i cant work or even function i need a doctor near peoria il who could help.... ## Hello, Jesse! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're so miserable. Due to the new regulations set forth by the DEA last year, if you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a psychiatrist, a general practitioner won't be able to prescribe them for you. That may be why you've had to try so many SSRIs. The FDA lists benzodiazepines as most commonly being used to treat anxiety ...

hi I started Effexor ER 3 days ago and beginning the first day I started to get fairly severe stomach and lower back cramping along with having to defecate several times a day. Has anyone ever experienced this type of side effect when just starting the medication? Thank you everyone. ## Hello, Jay! How are you? I'm very sorry about the symptoms you've had. However, the symptoms you've described are reported as possible side effects, when someone is new to taking this medication and it may take a few weeks for them to taper off, as your body gets used to the Effexor. You may also experience dizziness, fatigue and increased salivation, according to the FDA. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been diagnosed with major depression and adhd since I was 10. I started taking anti depressants when I was about 17. After trying a slew of different medications we settled on effexor. I went a long time without a PCP or psychiatrist and insurance so was basically stuck on effexor out of a fear of the brutal withdrawal symptoms. I was also a drug addict so didn't know what, if anything the meds were doing to my already altered brain chemistry. I have now been clean and sober for over one year and in therapy. I wanted to get off the effexor as it was the last vestage of my old life and try something new. My psychiatrist dropped me from 150mg to 112.5 to 75 to 37.5 in about a months time and I'm in my third day of nothing at all. I feel like absolute crap. Brainzaps/pulse...

I started Effexor in December of 2013 after having taken Prozac for years. I had a daughter in law diagnosed in October of that year with stage 4 breast cancer. Her husband, my son, has always had money problems, no matter how much he makes. My daughter in law is a great gal, and I was really pressured to spend money I didn't have, very stressful time for a 67 year old gal. I started with the Effexor because I was having trouble sleeping, started having hot flashes again, lots of mental anxiety. Recently I started having a clanging noise in my head, bowel problems, and really irritable and depressed. I went to have several tests done, all negative for any serious disease or health problem. The financial and health problems with my son and daughter in law have been taken care of the ...

I receive SSSI. Please tell me how you do it!. I take fentanall topomax effexor tizanidine loarazapam baclofan warafin symvastin ketamine compound. God bless us all! Callin from calli!:-) ## Hello, Cherokeemama! How are you? It seems there is a mix, some people work, some people don't. It really depends on the severity of the individual's condition, how degenerative it is, what medications they are taking and etc. Some people prefer to work, as long as they can, if they can and others are unable to get approved for SSDI. With that mix of medications you're on, your condition a...

Hi....Here's the short version of my story. I was on effexor for 13 years, started out at 37.5mg for probably 9 years and had absolutely No problems with anxiety. I was so good that I decided to stop taking it. Felt great for 3 months then I had a terrible attack in the middle of the night. Went to doc she put me back on and all said and done was up to 225mg to make me feel "normal". From there I stayed on that dose until about 6 weeks ago. Again I woke up in the middle of the night with a panic attack. Unfortunately they don't just stop, they go on for days and weeks! I immediately went to my doc and she upped me to 300mg of effexor, after a couple weeks we decided it just wasn't working anymore. We chose citalopram as the next option because my brother has had succ...

what are the side effects of a 28 year old girl - reducing her effexor dose from 75 to 37.5 mg? Should this be done gradually? ## Common side effects while reducing dosage include chills, hypertension, anorexia, nausea, agitation, dizziness, somnolence, tremor, yawning, sweating. I would consult her prescribing physician, and ask them if she should gradually lower her dosage. If you would like to read more about this medication, you can also see: Do you have any other questions or information to add? Please post back if you do... ## I am a 24 year old girl who *was reducing my effexor dose from 75 to 37.5. My doctor told me to take it VERY slow--perhaps 6 months. I tried to tapper once before in a shorter time frame, however the side effects were incredibly harsh--the worst was the dizz...

Has anyone suffered a burning sensation while taking Effexor? I don't know if it was caused by sun exposure but have had a burning sensation in my back for 3 weeks now. Feels like sunburn but no redness, peeling or anything. ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? Yes, that has been a reported side effect of Effexor. How long have you been taking it? It's usually not caused by sun exposure, it just tends to happen. Other side effects may include nausea, drowsiness and weight changes. Most side effects occur during the first 4 to 6 weeks of taking a medication, then taper off, once your body gets used to the drug. ## Hello Sarah, After reading your post I'm really worried about you because you might be the victim of effexor side effects which further leads to uncurable diseases. I woul...

Hi, Has anyone noticed complete lose of affection and passion in their marriage or relationship while on venlafaxine? ## Hello, Mark! How are you? Some of these medications do tend to reduce or entirely eliminate libido in either gender. The best thing to do would be to consult ones doctor and try an alternative medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi, Thanks for the Reply! I'm going to Start weaning myself off. I'm currently taking 150mg. I have read all kinds of horror stories.

My doctor has me switching from effexor to prozac which I am in total agreement with but the symptoms I am having are horrible....dizzy, diarrhea, brain zaps (I finally found a way to describe them through others online), im so tired during the day but am up all night...im also taking trazadone to help with the insomnia. I am nervous that the symptoms will persist since im only starting the prozac at 10 mgs. Im freaking myself out and making my anxiety worse on top of having hardly any medications in me to help! Anyone have anything similar to this? And is prozac better than effexor? ## Hello, Ash! How are you doing? One isn't necessarily better than the other, it really depends on the person and the symptoms being treated. What dose of Effexor were you taking and is your doctor tap...

I found a capsule.. either very faded pink or tanned?? cannot find it listed on other webpages. It has the P on it, and it looks like the P from the symbol Pharmascience, as it has a red circle around it, and the bottum of the P is underlined in red (or brown) The bottum half of the capsule says 75. The only thing that is remotely close is Generic form of Effexor, but it just shows the same colour and shape. I can not find anything that matches the shape with the P and the 75 at the bottum. ## I want to know the purpose of red and Tan of capsule pills

I take 2 150 mg of effexor daily equaling 300 ,mg now I see the pills are 37.5 as intake 2 of this daily, does this equal to my 300 mg or ia this a pharmacy mistake!!!!???? ,help! As I just lost my twin sister died unexpectedly,as I'm now VERY DEVASTATED already.. ## Hello, Jeanene! How are you? No, that is nowhere near 300mgs, taking two of the 37.5mgs tablets would only mean you're getting 75mgs of the medication. However, it is very odd to be taking 300mgs of this, because the maximum is usually only 225mgs. Are you certain that you've been taking 300mgs?

My daughter has been trying to taper off effexor for 6 months. She has had nausea, vertigo, brain zaps. A couple days ago she says she felt like crying for non reason. Yesterday she had these feelings off and on all day. How long does this it last? Is there anything for these crying spells? Please help. ## HI, Lexy! I'm very sorry about your daughter is going through. What type of taper is she doing? Is her doctor helping her? The crying could mean that she's trying to do it too fast, because that's what usually causes such rebound effects. Learn more Effexor details here. If someone has been on them for a long period of time, these medications must be very slowly tapered. ## Thanks for repkying Verwon, She has been tapering slowly, except when she cut her dose from 150mg (o...

I am in a drug rehab and dropped dirty for pcp and benzos I know that my effexor will give a false posative for the pcp but dont know why I would drop dirty for the benzos. I am also on parole and this information got sent to my agent and I would like to know if its possible that the effexor could give a false posative for the benzos as well other than that I take nothing more than tylenol. If anyone knows please let me know.
