You have hit the nail right on the head. Wait until they hit their thumb with the hammer, or develop a spine condition. It won't be Prozac that they are b*tching and moaning for.

I did not know that this site would eat my double quote marks, so here is the post again, with single quote marks in their place:

To Pa.girlinpain4life: How can you say you do not abuse oxycontin, when you also say that it took an hour to take effect?

The whole point of oxycontin is no waiting time at all for it to take effect because taken as directed, after the first 24 to 48 hours have passed, oxycontin subsequently maintains a steady state of the drug in your bloodstream so that it never wears off. You don't have to wait for it to take effect. That's what the ''contin'' in the name ''oxycontin'' means. It's short for ''continuous''. The only time it's effect is not continuous is when you defeat the mechanism that makes it continuous, so that it will have ''worn off'' before it is time for the next dose. If you are doing this because you have developed tolerance, rather than to get high, you need to speak to your doctor about adjusting your dosage so that you can have full steady-state round the clock pain relief.

It's understandable that the new drug may be weaker than the old one, but it is still continuous, just at a lower level of relief.

If you have been taking prescribed oxycontin on a continous basis, the concept of it having to ''take effect'' (at all) should be what you would complain about, rather than how long it takes to do so. I know it may sound like a subtle distinction, but anybody who has been taking oxycontin as directed knows exactly what I mean,

Use of the phrases ''take effect'' and ''kick in'' make for an obvious ''tell'', one that is usually coupled with terrible grammar and spelling.

I have used the Report Abuse link to report 311fan's detailed posting about how to prepare the abuse resistant form of oxycontin for Intravenous drug abuse. Hopefully, it will be removed.

Hi Guys I just got this off of Yahoo. I like the part where Canada and Mexico banned the chemical used in the OP's. Call Perdu and Bitch. It's going to kill us or hurt us. Conda.
How long until Perdue Pharma Recalls Oxycontin OP?
Now that it has become clear , that the new Oxycontin OP is not effective for pain MNG. and is causing a Large # of ER and Hospital admits. All complaining of similar difficulty and lack of relief !!! Will perdue Pharma Keep insisting everyone is either a insane in addicted ... Or will they be willing to let go of thier New patent for the Good of the people that supported them in the past ??? Or will they continue to let GREED drive their decision making ..... It is clear to me that this new formulation should have been tested on Humans , in real Pain situations , In combination with digestive aid medications limiting acid production that is required to digest this new plastic PILL .. It is clear to me that this new medication is less than a reasonable option .. I have too many illnesses to mention and have taken the Original Oxycontin since 1996 ,, Ma be there is a place for this TOTALLY NEW med .. But to CALL IT OXYCONTIN is a straight out LIE .. Oxycontin should have been allowed to go Generic and Perdue should concentrate thier effort on finding a NAME for REMOXY and attempting to sell it for What it is .. Rather than remove a medication that provided countless people with pain relief from the market Just to HIJACK it's name .. I for one have filled my last prescription of the Oxycontin OP's and if My medication is not returned to my pharmacy before my next fill I will never purchase another Perdue Product as long as I live :) ... This medication is INDIGESTIBLE as provided .. People are dying DAILY either from lack of pain MNG. or FAILED ABUSE attempts .... Both are MURDER .... I have never abused my medication and feel fortunate .. Canada and Mexico both consider the polymer and HPMC to be known Carcinogens and not allowed in products for human consumption ,, Yet OUR FDA would rather Please a few Mothers that are angry their drug abusing child Died or is hooked on something they purchased illegally ...... WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!! this is going to shorten the life of someone near you ,, if not yourself ...

I am prescribed oxy 10's for chronic back spasms. I just started getting the OP10's. They give me migraines, and I've never experienced headaches that intense in my entire life.
The pain relief takes about 4 hours to settle in (an eternity when you're having an excruciating spasm).
I just don't know what to do..very sad about this.

I have been on Oxycontin for 11 years after I broke my neck at work (I was a medic) I am on a low dose 20mg BID since starting the OP's I have once again been in more pain then I can really handle. It are kids and junkies that want that HIGH that have ruiined it for the rest of us that take it as prescribed. Purdue is afraid for lawsuits they will get would a kid die from snorting it so lets just change the formula and the hell with the people that we origionally made it for that are taking for severe pain. I still get shots once every three months and see the doc once a month. Last month I thought the pain was due to the fact that I needed a shot but I just had a shot this month and the meds are NOT working. Wake up purdue and give us back our pain relieve!!!!!!!!

This is for Bobaconda - I don't know about bumps but if you have black and blue spots, have your liver checked. That's a sign of liver problems. Now, 311Fan - how dare you? We AREN'T junkies that are on this site! I have constant PAIN. But then you continue on to explain HOW to get the junkies exactly the way to get what they want. Who the hell are you to say that we are all junkies on this site.

I think that since the new op's aren't as strong as the old oc's the right combo would be to have percocets for the breakthrough and the op's for the long term/lasting pain. For me if I don't chew up the op's it takes forever if at all to take effect. Then the op's don't last as long as they should. At least the perc's still have the fast acting oxy in them. There is also Oxy IR too.(instant release). It's too bad the messed these up. I notice now that I seem to have weird bruising from just a light bump now like I was on cumiden or some type of blood thinner. I take a small asprin a day since my quadrupal bypass surgery, but I've been taking that since Jan. 09. without any bruising problems. I'll probably buy some off the percs street and try that. I let you guys know.

I have RA and lumber scoliosis with DDD. Medication is the only way I can get out of bed And function. I take a very low dose of oxy 20mg. I have noticed the change of how effective the medication is now.We would not be having This conversation if this medication was not abused/ missed used by people. I had to fight for my doctor to prescribe pain meds. They were reluctant to prescribe them because of the abuse potential. Maybe It will make it easier for doctor to focus on pain management then of the fear of turning patients into junkies. With pain managememt the goal is to use as little medication to control pain not get high. For those experiening problems with the new pills, that's called withdrawl. Being on high mg doses for years your docs not providing proper pain management.
There need to be tapering and combo therapy for pain control. That's why its called management not fill a script and see the Dr.twice a year.

81 Patriot you should talk to your doctor about switching you to Opana ER. They are very effective for pain. They are just as good maybe even better than the old oxcontin. I hope this helps.

I've been dealing with cronic pain for 12 years after a near fatal accident. With breaks to both knees and both ankles in the joint area yet to boot. they didn't know if i would walk again.Well i did but with great pain .I was taking 8-10 lortab 7.5's a day for many years.I finally was put on oxycontin 120mg twice a day.I started out low but was increased till there was little to no pain. I was nearly pain free for 4 years and I was able to return to work finally. Then Purdue decided to to change the pills that I consider a miracle pill. Now I have to wait an hour to feel any relief and the releif lasts only about 6 hours at only 70% of what the oc's were. So, I'm comfortable for only 5 hours instead 10-12 hours. Why would they fix something that wasn't broke and I DO NOT abuse them!! The talk on line is that they (the ppl who do abuse them) have found a way to do so almost as soon as they hit the street .So what was the point of changing them in the first place. Now I'm one of the many who need them to live their life as normal as possible and now we can''t. Does calling Purdue really work on getting things back to the way they were ??

Now, I have nothing against those who choose to abuse Oxy or any other pharmaceutical drug because it is frankly none of my business. We have been trying to stop drug use for over a century and lets face facts, if people want to do drugs then they will find a way. Anyways, SWIM has found a way to cut the binders and make these new OPs ready for abuse. Keep in mind this can also be used for those of you who are not wanting to shoot or snort them. While this process is somewhat tedious, the end result is a higher grade of pain medication. I am not sure if the majority of posts on this Web site are from people who are actually suffering from side-effects which resulted from the new formula or they are genuine addicts who are looking to beat Purdue's new menace. Regardless here are the steps to beating the block (THIS ACTUALLY WORKS, IT MAY SOUND WEIRD BUT BELIEVE SWIM, I WATCHED THEM DO IT.):

Step 1: Use a damp paper towel, or similar, to remove the outer coating. Remember to dry pill rather quickly.

Step 2: Use a grinding tool, preferably an unused PediPaws (NOT A PED EG as stated in an earlier post, this just doesn't work nearly as well). Grind the pill onto a ceramic plate, grind the pill so it goes away from you and onto the plate. Takes a few minutes. (PILL MUST BE GRINDED AND NOT CRUSHED DUE TO NEW FORMULA)

Step 3: Spread the ground up pill evenly as possible on the plate. You almost want an even layer of pill throughout.

Step 4: Place the plate in the microwave and set for 3-5 minutes (TIME WILL VARY WITH MICROWAVE STRENGTH). For new people, you might want to check it at about 2.5 minutes just to be sure you are not melting or burning the pill. Also, having a see-thru window helps, as you may monitor the pill's progress. WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IS AN END RESULT OF YELLOW POWDER. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THE PROCESS. The entire pill powder must be yellow for this to work. So just be sure to find the perfect median point of turning yellow without burning.

Step 5: Scrape powder up with credit card (or similar). Now supposedly the pill may be snorted in this form, however, SWIM was not doing this to snort it, rather to IV.

If you are not choosing to IV the powder then you are done. The heat destroyed the binders in the pill and it can now be taken orally and will have results similar to the old formula, possibly with 5-10 mgs less due to heat but this is of course pure assumption. SWIM said it feels like the old 80s if not better, however SWIM was high when he said that. But at least this provides some hope that the process does in fact work.

FOR IV PURPOSES:

Now for those of you wanting to feel the rush here is the final steps.

Step 6: Heat water in spoon, prior to adding powder, this will not only help decontaminate the water but will also aid in the following steps. Bring about 120 units of water to a boil in spoon and then put lighter away as you will no longer need it. (You use 120 units because the pill and heat will reduce it to about 90-100 units)

Step 7: Now, add the powder a little bit at a time, stirring as you go. Keep in mind, the solution will not be clear. So if this bothers you then I suggest you just swallow it. Believe SWIM though, even though it is a little thick and yellow, it is fine he says.

Step 8: Because most of us are not chemists, micron filters are probably not readily available. Therefore take a cigarette butt and use that as you normally would. NO COTTON SWAB, this causes cotton fever. Now hopefully you have a syringe with a removable needle tip (these can be found in the .5ml insulin syringes but not in 1 ml 100 unit syringes). If you don't have a tip that comes off then it will take a while to draw up through the filter, but have patience it will happen (about 10-15 minutes). If you do have removable tip, take it off and place a piece of filter almost into the opening, not all the way because you don't want it to suck in when drawing. Draw up the solution, it won't take long with this method, and pour into a separate spoon. (WHILE MOST LIKE TO SKIP THIS STEP, IT IS WORTHWHILE).

Step 9: Repeat step 8, drawing the liquid up through a fresh filter. Now, you could theoretically repeat this step but two is enough. At this point you should reattach your needle tip and well, you know the rest.

They make the old form just under a new name and sell as generic. Ask your dr to prescribe oxcycodone extended release. Same thing as the old. Same markings even. No change at all. Good luck.

in my opinion the new op isnt even close to the ol oc ive been on the oc since a motorcycle accident in 2002 where i had to hae a left below knee amputation they were able to save my upper leg but because of the extensive damage i have hardware from the knee up through the years my pain has been getting worse especially to the knee area also due to the fact i have had 3 kidney transplants and the antirejection meds that deteriorates the bones over years time now that the oc has been switched to the op the pain has been so severe that being once fully independant now it is hard to even walk with the pain i taked to a couple of ortho docs to see if something could be done surgery wise but due to my medical history including my amputation i am not able to have any corrective surgery like a total knee replacement the docs told me the only thing i have to concider is cutting my leg abouve the knee which i feel is too extreame where without aknee it would be even more difficult to walk with a prostetic to the people out there that have these pain issues out there god bless you all and to the people out there that are calling us junkies would have a different opinion if god forbid something like we were going tru happened to them or a loved one so before you open your mouth try thinking about if you were the patient and in constant unbearable pain thank you

Oh yeah i also no longer take opiates because I have medicine that works for me know. but I am still very very sorry for what I was doing. I hope that this greedy faceless corporation actually starts listening to the REAL VICTIMS of what seems to be a bunch of DO GOODERS regulating peoples pain.

I have was an OC addict for over seven years and the new OP actually made me stop shooting them and just swallow them as normal which is good. However after reading about all of these poor peoples problems I feel so ashamed of myself and extremely guilty knowing that I unintentionally helped take away these peoples only means relief. I am from the bottom of my heart so sorry and regretful for using OC, I wish there was something I could do to help these people get their proper meds back. I started using on accident cause I had a surgery and not only did the OC take my pain away it actually took away my depression and severe anxiety that I have struggled with since early childhood. I had been perscribed every antidepressant available and have been hospitalized five times for phsychilogical problems with no success. The OC took away all my depression and anxiety and I never felt so alive or normal in my life. I told My doctor about what OC did for me and why I took it, he said I felt better because opiates release dopamine in the brain which is what makes people feel happy. The doctor prescribed me Adderall (dextroamphetamine) and IT WORKS!! Even though he knew I was taking opiates without a prescription, he still gave me something which is more along the lines of what I need. the Doctor knew I was not just adrug seeker but That I actually needed my dopamine levels adjusted. Once again I am so sorry and I feel so terrible that honest hard working Americans suffering have been cheated out of their medicine because of people like me that didnt stop and think about how my stupid actions could effect others. And to that jerk that's on his high horse should really think before he starts pushing his beliefs and values on people like a holier than thou religous fanatic. You got off drugs that's great but, just because you did does not mean that people in real pain should have to be belittled by YOU!!!
