I am taking 400mg doxycycline a day. Having a terrible toothache. Don't have the money to remove the tooth as yet. Is this dosage safe to take cause it makes me feel real bad ## I would say no. I am not certain of how long it takes but there is a Doxycycline specific ingredient that is dangerous when it goes bad. I do not know if it is highly lethal, but trust me it is not something you want to experience either way. I suggest you take it and dispose of it before any children or anyone else mistakenly takes it. Prevention is the best solution. Alternative Fix: If available, go and get some rum/whiskey and rub it on the gums around the affected tooth, it should act as a mild local anesthetic. Rum is smoother so I recommend that first. It is also safer for the liver than taking a ton ...

I'm taking doxycycline 100mg (2/day for 10 days) to prevent infection from a sting ray encounter in SW Florida's gulf waters. Potential bacterium: Staph', Strep', Vibrio. I've read that recovery from this type of injury is long, slow, and often with set backs. I thought it was looking better after first 5 days, but then the ankle (site of puncture) has gotten more swollen & a bit warm. Ultrasound revealed NO barb. Only drainage was clear and just in first 2 days. Tomorrow is 10th day of antibiotic. Should I start another round or wait & see? I have 2 prosthetic hips - so I need to be careful of infection. Orthopedic doc says to culture drainage, if any happens, and adjust antibiotic to those results. ## Yes, they can be taken that way, if your doctor deems it...

I took half a bactrim 3 hours ago. Can I change to doxycycline now? I have a rash on my hands. My dog was itching yesterday and I gave it an oatmeal bath but i did not wear gloves. I need to go to bed. Also had a b12 inj. which is normal this morning. I take valium at bedtime too. ## Hello, Kat! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Antibiotics will not do anything to help with an allergic rash, you'd need some type of antihistamine or steroid to treat that. Have you consulted your doctor? Usually, a topical steroid would be tried first and the FDA lists their typical side effects as possibly including skin redness, irritation and dryness.

What is a round pinkish pill with imprint HD725? ## This is no longer manufactured, but it does contain Doxycycline, an antibiotic. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea. ## I think you may be wrong about this one. You are right about it being discontinued, but it is Darvocet not Doxy. Big difference!

I have a dental abcess and would like to know if Doxycycline 100mg would help with this, I have no money to afford a doctor or dentist at the moment. ## It may help, if you have enough to take the correct amount for the proper duration of time to eradicate the infection. However, it will not correct the underlying problem that has caused the abscess, so you will still need to see a dentist as soon as possible and it would be best to consult one, before taking it. I've dealt with similar problems, due to finances and not being insured in the past, so I'd suggest checking to see if they are any dental clinics or schools in your area, most have sliding fee scales, or will even treat you for free to help a dental student get the training they need. The FDA lists the typical side eff...

wondering if i can use 100 mg doxycycl to reduce swelling from toothache infection? cheek swollen but no money to see dentist at present ## Doxycycline is an antibiotic that's used to treat various types of infections, but trying to self-treat an infection in such a manner could create several problems. First of all, if these are leftover antibiotics from treating another infection, you may not have enough to fully eradicate the infection. Next is the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, if that is the case. And another is the fact that is will not clear up the underlying issue that caused the infection, which means it will just keep returning and causing more problems. You do need to see your dentist as soon as possible. You can learn more Doxycycline details here. Are...

After being on it for 24 hours, you shouldn't see any worsening of the infection, but it may take 3 days before you start to see improvement. Learn more By-Mycin details here. Can antibiotic be of help and which type.... ## Hello, Lili! How are you? It really depends on what type of acne you have, some of it is bacterial and can be treated with antibiotics. The most commonly used one in the U.S. is Doxycycline, it's usually take in a very low dose, once daily for several months. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
