Doxycycline Taken After Bactrim

I took half a bactrim 3 hours ago. Can I change to doxycycline now? I have a rash on my hands. My dog was itching yesterday and I gave it an oatmeal bath but i did not wear gloves. I need to go to bed. Also had a b12 inj. which is normal this morning. I take valium at bedtime too.

Hello, Kat! How are you doing? Has there been any change?

Antibiotics will not do anything to help with an allergic rash, you'd need some type of antihistamine or steroid to treat that.

Have you consulted your doctor?

Usually, a topical steroid would be tried first and the FDA lists their typical side effects as possibly including skin redness, irritation and dryness.
