Dr prescribed this for my wife n I to keep us from getting sick while going thru ivf, but since I started taking it my gums hurt. Is that a side effect? ## Hello, Mark! How are you? The FDA does list it as being known to sometimes cause pain and sores in the mouth as side effects. It can also cause an oral yeast infection, which could cause your gums to be sore. Other typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. It would likely be a good idea to have it checked out, as you may need to switch to a different antibiotic. Is there anything else I can help with?

Today is my second day on Doxycycline and I am currently going back and forth to urinate. And the burning is outrageous. ## Hello, Renea! How are you? The general rule for antibiotics is that if they are working, you shouldn't experience any worsening of your symptoms after taking it for a full 24 hours and you should start to see improvement after being on it for a full 3 days. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. If you still have no improvement after 3 days, you should return to your doctor as you may need to try a different one. Is there anything else I can help with?

I just received a bottle of doxycycline 100 mg the capsules are of a darker green color with no markings On the pills should I be worried about taking them? ## Where did you obtain them? All standard U.S. manufactured medications are required to have markings on them to enable their identification. If you got them outside the U.S. they may very well be Doxycycline, but there's no way to be sure and, if they are from the U.S. and have no markings, they aren't a prescription medication. The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

Iv been on the meds for a few years to treat acne and am hoping it would of stopped me from catching the virus. ## Have you consulted your doctor? While it is an effective antibiotic, the fact that you've been on it for quite awhile might mean that you've developed some antibiotic resistance, so it may not be effective at treating or preventing other infections. Thus, if you've been exposed to Chlamydia, you may need to be treated with a different antibiotic to prevent complications. ## Has anyone taken doxycycline hyclate and developed a fever?

Been prescribed doxycycline to treat my roscea and have a few celebrations coming up and also going on holiday soon so l am just wanting to know if it would be ok to have alcohol during this treatment . ## Hello, Hillypop! How are you? Actually, if you have rosacea, you should stay away from alcohol. While it doesn't cause it, it can trigger or worsen flare ups, so you'd kind of be defeating the purpose of taking the antibiotic. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Doxycycline as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

This medication is a tetracycline antibiotic used for treating bacterial infections. At the moment I haven't come across specific details on who the manufacturer is, but I hope this info can at least narrow down your search if anything. I was on a 10 day cycle of Doxycycline for a tick bite. I was outside some days and had no problem. Mowed grass on day 7. I had on sunblock also. But my hands tingled when I washed them after mowing. Now 5 weeks later I have these symptoms: Tingling hands and feet, all of my skin burns when touched, tongue and inside of mouth burns, esophagus burns, stomach burns, rash on upper chest and face, if I run my finger across my body it leaves a bright red mark for a few minutes, and if I sit for long my back burns and turns red. Dr. prescribed anti-histamines and corticosteroid cream. Neither seem to help much. ## Hello, Patrick! How are you? It's hard to say whether or not this has had anything to do with the Doxycycline. Its typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, usually include na...

I've been taking doxycycline for a little more than a week for an STI. Although it seems that my symptoms from the STI are clearing up I am wondering if I am experiencing adverse reactions from the drug. I seem to have a red rash around my scrotal area. The skin seems red and slightly sensitive but not unbearable. Is this caused by the medication? ## Hello, Ken! How are you? As listed by the FDA, antibiotics can cause non-allergic skin rashes as side effects, or it may have caused a yeast infection. If it isn't itchy and there are no hives involved, it's likely not an allergic reaction, but you should have your doctor look at it, to be sure. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
