FYI: I SURVIVE on disability so cash docs don't work for me as I can barely pay the doc bills I have now! If I could afford the initial $300 consultation fee, I wouldn't be posting here. But, I can't, hence my presence here!

Jessica- I live near Riverside (Anahiem), and my pain man. Clinic is AMAZING! They have clinics in Orange, Fullerton, & Whittier, CA. I paid $250 for the initial appt. & $80 a month per visit, and they are really really nice. It's a cash only clinic, but WELL worth it. Hopefully you are able to understand the website (.com)

hey there.........I was wondering about how you got prescribed percocet.........I've taken norco for a couple months but I've been seen twice for my shoulder through urgent care and migraines, and had an injection by an orthopedic doc for the bursitis in the shoulder. I've got a serious sharp pain in my lower back comparable to the kidney stone second round at various times and ranges of motion that may have been onset by being overactive at the gym and the lifting of my father who can't walk due to cancer in and out of the shower. I have an appt with an MD on the 20th but not enough med to last until then and the norco doesnt help much with the back as I'd hoped. I also take prednisone as my anti inflammatory. The trainer at the gym referred me to him and said hes good but I'm hesitant because of the Family Medicine title. I think I could benefit from a month of the use of the percocet which should be a little stronger and the prednisone as long as there isn't something too major.......I haven't had an xray on the lower back yet...........??? Any advice?

yeah, I'm 33 and been looking after my dad since mid summer and issue was with my shoulder first and a combination of diff physical activities are related, however the day to day basis requires my well being for him being so weak and sick and it's day to day. My problem is I was treated with a shoulder injection and was prescribed a fair amount of norco prior to my orthopedic visit but the injection didn't heal the problem. Helped yes. The Tramadol prescribed I will not take due to side effects. My lower back issue is something that I believe is been active longer and I've just irritated the area much worse recently by laying off the shoulder a bit. Now, with 3 visits including 2 to urgent care where I received 10-12 5mg norco and 7.5 norco the 2 separate times paying my copay of 65 under my ins. and the Doctors Care visit where I received some norco as well along with some anti-inflammatory meds, prednisone would make it appear as if I'm "Dr. Shopping", the current terminology when I've basically been seeking the meds that have helped along the way and nothing more. I finally have an appt with a new Dr. made where I may be able to obtain a substantial prescription with a refill perhaps........and a pain mgmt referral that seems to be needed without being referred to as a junkie or getting red flagged etc.........but what do you do if you run out of a medication that lasts 3 days ya know???.......and how do you avoid becoming a red flagged junkie and "dr shopper" without seeking various locations for help?

I live in Columbia, SC so I don't have any advice to offer anyone other than follow the procedures and if you don't have insurance, my God bless you, may you be granted freedom from your situation and hassles. I for one have felt some physical dependency but at the same time, it's not been a thing for me versus feeling better. I'm extremely active at the gym and as a person in general. I never imagined getting medications for pain would be so difficult and present such a rat race for so many individuals. If you're just looking to shoot up or whatever, hey, I don't judge, but I'm trying to get valid prescription drugs for actual issues that slow me down. Doctors shouldn't worry so much and just do the job. I'm how often have doctors actually lost their jobs due to prescription writing.............within reason. It's a vicious cycle and they Dr. holds the keys to the car like it or not. I hope everyone's wallet is full enough to meet their needs because it's clearly about the money and not the health for some. Best of luck to all and I hope I can manage myself until the 20th. My back pain is much worse than my shoulder and the prednisone has been helpful so if in your case, maybe similar to mine.......don't turn it away, because it will help along with a narcotic in some cases I guess. It really hasn't helped my back at all but I don't really know whats going on there just yet................best of luck to all!!!!!!.

Name is Mike. i have no real need for pain meds, but I want them. If that makes me bad then, I'm bad. I'm looking for a doctor in Central Massachusetts (worcester area) who is liberal with medication.

Military should NEVER be in pain not ever.

Once you're (collectively speaking) addicted to these narcotics, they replace the natural morphine in the brain that shoots signals to your 'owwies' if you will.

Those are replaced by opiates taken for both pleasure and real pain (the consequence is typically the same) only the person taking it for recreation went from getting high to doing what the other gentleman told him which is WHATVER they have to do because withdrawal symptoms are absolutely horrible - infact inexplicable that any military staff (present past and up and coming men and women.

If I was able to be a doctor (special area) I would get my license for pain managment - then I'd graduate Majoring in WHATEVER got me to a point where I could apply into the military hospital settings, or at a location who took care of military and seniors ONLY -

I'd have to minor in Chemistry obviously, but the end result would be that no senior would ever have to worry about payment - managed Rx refills - even upping the dose in order to prevent such American histoircal heroes their ticket forward for physical and mental freedom. For Seniors, they've paved our way - for soldiers, they've secured and guranteed that freedom be protected.

In other words, I would take care of the very people responsible for the path set in motion - and the securing of that path to contine on - and it would not cost me a thought.

I dropped out of JMarsalls law-school at age 22, upon realizing my pregnancy - from that point forward now at 41 years of age adding three more kids to the list I decided my future on the basis of my unborn child... and I've been a mom ever since Now,we have 4)

My sister, who spent many years using opiates for recreation now finds herself in a position where the chemical in the brain - that natural morpine - has been replaced by narcotics, and without them she's in a situation where she has three stints, has had brain surery nd a few other legitimate medical problems causing her pain that 'natural morphine' isn't around to take care--

We do need advice for the time being - so far, she's on 1 ten mg tablet 3 times daily - in the morning she takes 45 mg of morphone, and before bed - 30mg of morphine.

Her day time doses are simply not enough. It takes her 3 10/325s (generic norco) just to feel normal - anything beyond that is for pleasure, and because here in IL the laws are SO highly enforced for the medical practicing physician they actually look at her for the drug recreational citizen she once was. Now she's in a real pain situation, w/a record that is visible by her doctos and they take that into account before Rx'ing her anyting and that's very unfortunate - she brought this upon herself (accordig to her)

Her brain chemical structure has been completely destroyed from a natural pain release of morphone to area 'owwied' now it's empty and only fillable by whatever shes orally.

What I'd like to know is where in IL around Chicago ....who is willing to overlook the situations of her past, and take a hard look at her current reality, which has a brain surgical procedure from a year ago - several stints, and a herniated disk in her stomach area (closer to the back) 3 a day of the 10/325s is simply not enough and she's running out of them quickly as you can imagine - she's taking 3 tablets in one dose, and doing this 3 times a day, JUST to feel 'normal' and has not even really addressed the pain. I think there's a placebo happening with it.

Nothing but cranberry juice and water until a few hours before your test. Then drink something like a Coke so your urine doesn't look diluted. Have passed two that way, not with pills but should work the same, and I had done it that morning as well. Hope this helps but also hope u get help, if you don't need pain meds, u shouldn't be taking them. Way too many that really do need them and can't get them.

I completely agree! There are WAY too many people ABUSING prescription meds out there! Because these people don't need them, and abuse them so much, it makes it nearly impossible for people like me that NEED them to function on a daily basis due to a LEGITIMATE DISABILITY!! I hope anyone seeking these pain meds for anything other than WHAT THEY CAN LEGALLY BE PRESCRIBED FOR seeks help for themselves! It is incredibly selfish as well as demeaning to obtain them for any other purpose. Plus, you also might want to ask yourself one additional question. What happens if you get seriously hurt playing football with friends or mountain biking, etc.? Because of recreational use, your body will have built a tolerance to medications that would normally work in those situations.

A) How do you deal with the real pain when the doctor REFUSES to prescribe anything stronger than vicodin?

B) How do you explain that while the pain is not as severe as, for example, having you arm torn off in farm machinery, yet you get no relief from the standard pain treatments?

If the fact that people with legitimate needs cannot get the medications they need because of people like you (the recreational user), I hope you take a step back and consider the above questions for yourself!!

In response to Linda, you're completely correct about the "cry wolf" scenario you've made with the arm being torn of in farm machinery and pain mgmt etc. I think a person has a right to claim what they feel also. Whether or not dependency develops based on factual physical pain or mental dependence creates a major catastrophe. It's the same as gun control though. Who can judge what other than the Dr. or the President right? I've place a few responses on this sight to gain a better insight from those who are suffering like my father, in much worse shape than myself, but at it doesn't negate my needs. Learning is growing. Everyone has rights to medication that is adequate based on their situations. It's a shot in the face to someone who claims recreation over practical use and needs, but I again reference "cry wolf". I hope my appointment won't be in vane Thursday because I in fact need a moderate to severe narcotic at the moment until I can gain better physical momentum and heaven forbid I drop my father in the floor one day from a sharp pain in my back that made me flinch or give because I couldn't numb it. Anyways, I see both sides, but trying to alter chemical compositions of pain medication and being judgement from a physician perspective is just as wrong as "crying wolf" in my opinion.

Pardon the grammar........geez........I should proofread my posts, lol........anyways, my final point is if you need it, it should be given and a Dr., after you see them and pay them money should be obligated to treat your claim regardless. To all who are in worse shape than me I'm very sorry for it and all who are "crying wolf" or whatever you want to call it, God speed for a better insight on things. I hope everyone has a blessed holiday and doesn't have to be miserable based on misjudged treatments or drug abuse.
