Need of a pain dr in New Jersey south jersey I'm in pain from multiple back surgeries and I need a doctor who doesn't judge cause I've done everything and I have proof of it. I can only have pain meds now and it works :-) I want my normal life again and be back to work!!

Lynn,

Have your current PM get you someone right away. She has referral doctors. They all do when they get in trouble. Don't feel guilty, she is in trouble not you, unless she's a PILL QUACK, even then she can refer you.

Your surgeon had to have someone take over his practice and or records.

I also suggest you get seen in a university hospital by Head of Orthosurgery for the FBS.

Keep us posted. If I do not get a doctor soon I'll be pushing daisies.

Jewels,

You sound a bit too happy. Most of us are permanently disabled due to intractable pain.

You need to get that happy surgeon to refer you to who he uses for his surgical patients who continue to have chronic pain.

I have chronic pain issues that have disabled me since the age of 14. I have nerve damage in both legs along with two plates six screws and a bone Graft into lower back. So if I sound to happy maybe it's because I finally found people who would listen and not judge considering I am only thirty and have had five surgeries in ten years. So I'm here for help not feel like I'm just someone looking for a fix thanks

Jewels,

So what my dear, none of us ask for what we are dealt.

You miss the point, the surgeon who made multiple errors can refer you. Most of these doctors should not be cutters. I am a health care professional and know I did not ask for my lot in life. I was disabled very early in life and kicked off and became a RN regardless even with permanent disabilities. My luck I had a catastrophic injury after becoming a nurse, I cannot be on a pity pot.

Get with the surgeon and have him refer you to the pain specialist he uses, he has at least one or two.

P450, I sent email as was sent to me no450 in It. Anyway, I don't have 100 drs. I have a PCP, orthopedic hip and knee, ankle, foot (broke last January), eye, vein vascular, dermatologist, psych Dr, therapist, and spine Dr/surgeon (he is history). Being referred to great neurosurgeon that PCP thinks may help with PM. I get Norco from PCP, 60 a month. Got Flexeril yesterday. Baclofen no help. Klonopin helps spasms some. Supposed to start methadone within 3-4 wks. Hope so. Might try to find quack. I am crazy hurting. Hope we all get better. Praying for everyone here!

This is ridiculous. I'm not responding to anyone in general but just adding my thoughts. I go in and out of pain and back. I don't know all the medical terms but my first disc in my back does not line up with my spine and I have arthritis. My primary doc said my lower back was slowly waiting away. He referred me to a orthopedics doctor who gave me vicodin for pain. Before this I never took any pills for anything no cold pills or anything and like to read on what I take and frankly I just didn't believe in taking pills but when I couldn't get sleep or it was hard to walk this all started like 7 years back I took the vicodin and they helped greatly, I functioned fine my work knew what I took it didn't interrupt my work performance or anything. Moved to another state and thought I would get treated the same way only to get treated like a drug addict and wouldn't look at any of my medical charts or MRI results. I never over took or asked to be upped or for more. But wanted me to be a Ginny pig and try other meds i tried the celebrex that he said would work my insurance wouldn't cover it because it was so expensive and it gave me real bad stomach pains and heartburn I told him what happened he suggested tramadol I never heard of it at the time so I told him I would rather take nothing than to try a bunch of pills when I'm already taking something that has been working for the last 2 years. I stopped taking pills and when the pain got worse I went to another doctor and tried the tramadol that worked for a bit until I got severe headaches the next day which is a side affect of tramadol. Tramadol is a synthetic form of hydrocodone and is a lot worse for you. Now acetaminophen and exederin is 50 times more likely to cause heart attack. The best thing for pain is pure oxycodine without any acetaminophen. But we get punished for the people that abuse them. So now I just take nothing and try to deal with it as best I can. but the people that abuse them get them anyway. Forget going to your doctors anymore. Or the urgent car or er unless you have a broken bone or dying. We should be allowed to refuse payment if they don't take you seriously. Our medical system is failing and is failing us as humans. We should be allowed to go to the pharmacy and purchase what works best for us for pain its my body and my decision if I want to live in pain or not. People that abuse drugs are going to abuse them no matter what so how does not helping people that need them help stop the abuser's? Things need to change in America after its our freedom of choice rite?

Jewels,

You can if you really need to get within Rutgers University system. I am sure they have pain management and if you have complexity that is always the best. I was born in Jersey and they saved my life several times but in New Brunswick, and in Newark.

You have to realize I have over 400 ancillary and autoimmune disorders, all from the catastrophic injury at one point I started ignoring them all and changed my attitude if not I would not be alive now I have a comp injury for life and they literally are trying to kill me. I win against Attorney Generals and they appeal all to hold pain management up which they put me on over 20 years ago, if you sit in it you will drown that's all.

On the other hand rule of thumb for all here never just have surgery; if you are referred to a surgeon and he is not a university cutter get two or three opinions. Any physician who is not capable on cervical discs of anterior entry only posterior should not be cutting you, run from that surgeon.

Just saying I know nothing and even more then nothing ahem...

In excruciating pain, started in knees, burning, soon after both legs, then ankles, elbows, wrists, fingers. Had multiple blood test, bad CK levels also bad ANA levels low potassium & magnesium. Am told I have autoimmune disease. Dr. would not give pain meds. Prescribed Diclofenate, it helped for two weeks then back in pain.
Thank God I have friend give me morphine s 3mg. I cut them into 4 pieces taking only what is needed, told Dr. then she gave tramadol, worked for a few days, back in pain. Seen Hematologist, more blood labs four days ago still no answers, asked him for pain meds, told not unless I have cancer. No one knows what is wrong and not willing to help. I live in Fredericksburg, VA am 52 yr old female cannot function. Thinking of going to rheumatologist next, have no insurance so this is costing me a fortune. Please am begging someone HELP!

Cowgirl,

You are kidding me, all those tests point to a MI or cardiac event (myocardial infarction or heart attack) and with hypokalemia you need to get to a hospital where they can perform a new EKG (university please) and get you straight. Potassium is regulated within a small level of normalcy or MI or CVA occur.

The elevated CK or CPK is heart attack, it could secondarily be pancreatic, you need to get a proper evaluation.

Cowgirl,

Go over to UVA and get checked out. I'd recommend MCV my alma mater but they are now privately owned. Go to UVA please.

SH you need one physician a GP and a PM specialist. A surgeon ONLY IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY pushing 10 FBS. Come on you are too suspicious with that many physicians you know this.

Les,

When you open page look at the starter convo.

Then either you have a setting to choose "new posts" or "conversation order" - If the second, you get original dates not newest.

Cowgirl,

I've written several messages and hope you see them since you are critical (in what you've described) and state no insurance.

In a teaching hospital they cannot turn you away nor do they want to--tell them you have no insurance and let them either put you through for gratis or Medicaid. Virginia Medicaid has always paid higher then most states and is better coverage. MCVH is not the place to go and from where you live UVA in Charlottesville is; in the teaching hospital "we learn" by having multiple free clients it is part of the teaching process but you have the best professors/physicians doing the work and best testing and resources. If they say you have an autoimmune disease what is it? I am not convinced and your labs point to cardiac, you need entry into an immediate teaching hospital setting.

If you prefer go to D.C. but if you are going north I'd suggest John Hopkins (Maryland). If you were here in Texas I'd suggest Baylor Methodist in Houston, TX.

Keep us posted.

P450,

Hang in there. What was it I do to check docs in va. Republica? Forgot how! Thanks. I am supposed to be starting methadone clinic soon but it costs. Drs don't take my insurance. This may make getting a Dr hard!

SH,

Put the State you need a physician in, medication, and it will narrow down categories for Medicare physicians who prescribed in a given time frame (for example I'd need Duragesic as my medication for LA and state would be any state at this point.)
