Doctors Who Will Prescribe Pain Medication In Rhode Island (Page 3)

I am looking for an MD or Pain clinic that will prescribe pain medication in Rhode Island. I have 4 herniated discs, nerve damage in my leg, severe migraines. My former Md said that he could not longer prescribe due to the regulations, I dont want to have to move, that would be crazy to have to go through that, but I also do not want to continue living night and day in Agony, with not one Md that has any compassion, it seems all they care about is to look out for themselves, I only take 2 pain medications that I believe are both in class 1, but when you talk to a doctor about pain, they tell you to take tylenol. I am tired of theses doctors just caring about themselves, if you have a patient like myself, that has the MRI's and Catscans to show what my pain level is, they should be a little more compassionate. I am not able to have surgery at this time, not until my daughter is driving and able to get out on her own, grocery store, ect. I would really appreciate any advise, I sleep with a heat pad every night on my back, but when I go to get up, the pain is unbearable.

Thank you Cats I made an appointment, they did not have anything for 3 weeks, but I just pray that he is understanding. I really felt like telling the Doctor that I am leaving that, really, I cannot ask my pain to just visit me every other day, I don't think that things work that way, but I did need my last script of 30 capsules that are now supposed to last me 2 month's. I will definatley let you know how thing's work out. I plan on bringing to him, my report's from the MRI's of my back, catscans, ect. I did go to one pain clinic in West Greenwich RI and they said that they would not even give me inj's, that I needed to have surgery, and that is something that I cannot due at this time and the torn ligiment in my calf needs to be repaired, again that would require me to be off my feet, and I have to care for my daughter at the present time, along with the Migraines, Fibro, ect. Just need 2 pills of the fiorinal to get me through the day and night, as it is now, I wake up in such pain I can barely move it hurt's so much, because all I can do is to take Tylenol. I hope the next time I write you I will have better news, thanks so much for your kindness

Hi Cats
I wanted to let you know that I went to that MD that you recommended. I was a little un-easy on my first visit, I had read about him and how his patient's rated him and it was not good at all. To my surprise, he was very nice, did a basic exame and he was quite pleasant a good listner and I was able to tell him my problems.
I have to say that I was quite pleased, I have an appointment to go back this week, but I have to cancel for next week. I hope I did not jinx anything, I hope he is the same MD when I go back. The MD that I was seeing previously, the one that cut me down to one pain pill every 2 days, was somewhat rude from the first visit, never listened to anything I had to say, ect. I want to thank you so very much for helping me. I hope that I can have a lasting Patient/Doctor relation for years to come, I really hate changing Doctors, but sometimes we have not choice.

Hi, I am also in RI and have been looking for a Dr. but can't find one. My Dr. actually sent me to a Dr. that gave me Suboxone a class 3 narcotic which is a horrible medication they use it for detoxing people. My Dr. told me he could no longer prescribe for me and sent me to the other Dr. So I had no options I had to go to this Dr. or be sick. I took it for 11 weeks and couldn't do it anymore. The medicine gave me such bad anxiety I couldn't function normal and trying to come off of it is hell. Please if anyone knows of a Dr. it would be so much appreciated.

Hey I'm in ct and am looking for the same thing a pain doctor that will prescribe pain meds for back pain my dr. wants me to do physical therapy but I've done it before and it doesn't work and won't give me a referral unless I do 12 weeks of it...anyone you know that could help me out personal

Hello I'm in the same position as other people on this site. I have 2 hip replacements, cervical fusions and neef a knee replacement... I pray every night that I will meet my maker, rather than deal w/ this chronic pain.

Hi I saw the message about you knowing a Dr that prescribes Methadone in RI. I live in Woonsocket, and cant afford the clinic but can go to a Dr that accepts medicare. I have herniated dics, sciatica, spoddylosis etc.........If you can help point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. THANKS!

Kathy..try the pain clinic through st annes hospital. They are very good and they do understand. You jave to gi every month for refills but they really are good.

I am also in the same place as all of you guys. I have t find a new pain clinic. I thought I had found one, hen out of the blue this Dr. says to me that my methadone is not metabolized in my body??? HUH? He says its been like this for over 2 to 3 months. Then if that is what he thought why did he up my oxycodone from 10 mg to 15mg? It had something to do with the new admin!!! I am SO pissed off. I took my meds EVERY SINGLE DAY as ordered!! They threw me out. I am getting an attorney. They refuse to give me my records, which I think is against the law?? My phone no is {edited for privacy} for anyone that knows of a legit pain Dr in RI or MA that writes for REAL PAIN!!!

Hi Bobby, saw the post and I was hoping maybe you could help me!! I have been under care by same dr for 20 yrs he quit in dec and I can't find new dr. I have called min 30 offices and no one is taking new patients or they give drug panels to see what meds your taking, so very sad. I have broken both femurs pelvis, lower back, neck, have nerve damage in right shoulder and elbow. Back surgery made the pain 10000000 times worse. I have weened off my meds. I was taking 3 oxycontin 80 mg a day 8 oxycodone 20 mg and hydrocodone 750 3 a day. I'm currently taking just the oxycodone 30 mg. the pain is unbearable. even the pain management could not help. they told me they don't write scripts, only inj's. and counseling what a joke. I have been going thru this over 20 yrs. tried everything and the one thing that works I can't get. I am at the point where I would rather die from the pain then be treated the way I have.

So sorry to feel your pain. Perhaps my pain is greater than yours but I found Franklin Pain Management does the best work. I've been through many of these guys. They love to take your money. Try this place. Could be worth the look. Good luck and continue to pray for that's the only positive in my life today. Try them. Franklin Pain Management.
