i have been on Xanax for 30 years. Now my doctor moved and I'm seeing one in KS who calls me in randomly for a U/A!! I have never been in any trouble and I'm 51, not going to be treated like I'm on parol.

Have you found a Dr yet to help you? I am needing someone
Re: lost in the Ozarks (# 5)
Most states have a law that says it’s illegal to prescribe medication to a known addict, so if you mean rehab like drug rehab, don’t tell them that.
Re: Matt (# 8)
If you’re not doing anything wrong, who really cares about the U/A's? I’ll pee in a cup every single month if that’s what I have to do to get medication that helps me live my life.
Re: amc08 (# 12)

Hi I’m in the same boat you are if you find somebody please let me know! I’ve been on Xanax for 30 years and nothing else has worked, can’t find anyone here to prescribe it. I’m in Joplin.
I’m the same way. My doctor treats me like I’m on parole and I’m not. I’m 40 years old I’ve tried everything non-narcotics, they don’t work. The only thing that seems to work are narcotics and my doctor won’t do it. I’m to the point where I’m going to get it on my own and I don’t wanna do it and I’m trying to find a doctor that will prescribe it.

Amen to that. I'm going through it too. And I know what works for me by now age 38. Klonopin has helped since I was 21 when I can get it prescribed.
I have had severe social anxiety since I was 7 y/o. I am now 47. I have been prescribed an entire range of ssri, anti-psychotics, trazadone, anti-histamines, and various other medications and combinations. I was up to 4 medications at once to no avail. I have never been prescribed benzodiazepines and the medication they give are ineffective yet still the Dr.s refuse to prescribe klonopin. They insistence on trying something new which is always some variation of the past ineffective medication. I have had serotonin syndrome and an increase in restlessly symptoms and insomnia and compulsive behavior from the dopamengenic prescriptions. This has been going on since 1999 when I finally sought help after a life of misery.
My question is, are the side effects of benzodiazepines worse than the side effects mentioned above (and there are many more) in addition to personal suffering related to social anxiety. I know that dependence can develop as a result of taking benzodiazepines, but is that side effect really worse than daily misery?
Went of klonipin in rehab 7 months ago after 15 years of use under a doctor. Need a doc in Springfield mo that won't ask questions. I am struggling from withdrawal
Don't fool yourself though. Xanax has probably the worst side effects that Doctors wont tell you about, perhaps because they don't know?
I'm living in Missouri and on Medicaid because I'm disabled from breast cancer and I also have severe high panic and anxiety attacks and dealing with PTSD. I have literally tried over 50 other medications and I always seems to get the most serious side effects. The only thing that has worked for the past 24 years is xanax. PLEASE help!!!
Please help me find a provider for my bi-polar and xanax. My latuda is over $700 a month and my doc says he often gets low on the samples he gives me. His office staff never returns my calls either. I can live with that, I just can't afford to pay for the Latuda. (It's the only thing since I was diagnosed in 96 and I've been on about everything!) I'm 42, not into abuse and live in Springfield/Dayton, Ohio area. Thanks!
Hello, Greg! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're experiencing.
However, since Xanax is a controlled substance that is frequently abused, doctors do have to be very careful about prescribing it and most are going to make you do similar things, in order to continue having it prescribed. Many do random pill counts, too.
This medication is most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and irritability, this medication also carries the risk of being habit forming.
Due to the new regulations that were put in place year, if you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a specialist.
To be honest, it will most likely be easier to just stay with the doctor you're currently seeing, since they are wiling to prescribe it for you.
Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area for Greg, if he wants to switch?
