Doctors In Michigan That Prescribe Methadone (Page 15)

I'm interested in finding a private doctor's office (not a clinic) that will prescribe methadone. I can't afford these clinics! Does anyone know of a doctor???

kamarx, thanks for you advice. I have been so worried but it's time. I am fearful of suboxen as I took it too soon once and went into acute withdrawals never want to try that again. Thanks for you input.

Yes thats what happens when m dose is to high...it needs to be very low to wo work well.now the newer suboxone..buprenorphine..or subutex came out w a film form u place on tongue till it disolves its supposed to be the best type.and you're still gona feel a lil discomfort for about a week.after that good to go. and Jim your welcome. P.s just go Slow w the methadone i really cant stress it enuff. :)

Jerry Kamarx is exactly right that is the best way to detox. I was on 120 mgs last year and dropped to 60 mg abruptly and was surprisingly ok with that. I then slowly dropped to my current 30 mg and am holding here until next month, when I will drop another 10 mg and hold for 3 months or so. Listen to your body, but once you are at 30 mg for a while you will begin to feel your normal self again and long for the day when you can be completely free. I have been with a doctors office as opposed to a clinic for 2 years now and much prefer that....and that was my reason for reading and posting on this site. Whoever is threatening to bust people is really off point. I don't think ( & I hope) that they aren't legit, but if they are I am guilty I guess of trying to help others in my same position. I had NO IDEA that was a crime. I feel as long as you are seeing a real medical doctor they are supposed to be the ones to make the decisions about your medication, which is why I passed on ANY information. This is where I found out information too. In any case I truly wish you and anyone else good luck with your endevors, I do not mean any harm at all and especially do not mean to cater to or advise/condone any type of illegal drug use or addiction.

I can say in my case, i was in the methadone clinic system for some yrs.and due to my severely painful knees i could no longer go there and stand in long lines. Now being in a private dr.s care its better. But for me the methadone is not a good pain reliever which is due to being on it for awhile.I too hoped to get off this med.and actually have a pain med that works. Seems the longer im on it the less relief i get.

Thanks Peace for the reminder. I was pretty sure I wasn't doing anything illegal. And sorry to hear it Kamarx, I hope you are getting some relief now. I have been on Methadone for 5 years now and don't get much relief anymore either so I am having to use other short term pain medication for break thru pain, once again though it is prescribed by the doctor. The stigma of methadone is bothering my family members and I would rather just use 1 medication to get relief so I am hoping my new doctor, a neurologist and pain specialist, will be able to help. He seems competent and ready to try. I've been re-tested all month and am getting updated test results, not all of it good but at least conclusive. As always, best of luck to all.

Seems that stigma and methadone go hand in hand even in this day.i do think alot of it comes from the medical community itself.

Pam, sorry haven't responded in such a long time just been busy getting my life back. After catching up reading all these posts since early October i realize the site has definitely changed. I wanted to give you the information about the st. Clair shores/warren Dr. but now am not even comfortable posting it publicly on HERE. Should I? Hope things are going well with you, i still can't thank you enough for your help. YOU truly have helped MANY people, myself included, that legitimately need these medication(s)....Thank You.

Starr Clinic in Detroit Michigan.... Check the Yellow Pages for their number but YES it is a sliding fee schedule and is mostly for low income individuals that cannot afford to go to a high class pain management to get rid of these crazy priced illicit drugs that are killing thousands of lives on the daily

@ Amy... I have been reading these posts for days and I have followed quite a bit of your stuff.... I as well, have been on methadone and moved back to Michigan in October but cannot find a dr to prescribe me Methadone here they say i have to go to a Methadone Clinic???? I have bad back injury & serious pain for over 12 years. I currently live in Warren, Michigan (Macomb County). I am getting Oxycodone from my doctor but he wont prescribe Methadone so I have to go to one of those clinics almost every plus see counselor 1x month and attend group 4x month plus other mandatory meetings/appointments. This has been going on since I moved back to Michigan 6 months ago. Prior to that I was living in Tucson, AZ and my family physician prescribed me both the Methadone and the Oxycodone every month. I always took it as prescribed and never abused either medication. The problem is that ever since I moved back to Michigan I cannot find a private doctor to prescribe my medications that I know to work on my pain level. I have tried other doctors and they prescribed various other different types of medications, none of which helped my pain and I would just be in bed crying or at least whining lol in pain daily.
Please can anyone provide me with name(s) / ph #'s of any private physicians who would prescribe both my Methadone and Oxycodone, both of which I have records of taking for over 6 years, plus I have legitimate back injury, with 3 MRI's and X-Rays to prove it. Thanks!!!!

Lisa...welcome to our world. The drs here in michigan aren't so understanding or that giving. I think there maybe a few that may. I'm surprised the clinic your at even allows you to take the oxys.when i was in a clinic they told me no get off or get out. I had proof of my degenerative diesase. They didn't care. And STAR clinic is a ghetto nightmare i wouldn't send anyone i know there.

I don't know if oxycodone is still available in mi. Anymore I heard it isn't. But that could be a rumor.

Yes Oxycodone is available in Michigan, I have been back here from Arizona for 1 year and have had 2 different doctors prescribe it to me (possibly only because I was previously getting it in AZ) and the 2 doctors were obviously not at the same time, I was seeing 1 for few months but couldn't get the Methadone, so I switched to another only to have him not prescribe Methadone either. In Arizona I had the Methadone for long-term pain and would take the Oxycodone for break-thru pain. So I am still trying to find a doctor that will prescribe both. I know my brother-in-law gets both from his doctor but I didn't really want to go to the same doctor as him because we don't get along that well.

Hey Amy, Nice to see your response. Don't worry about what gets discussed. We have freedom of speech. The site is set up with disclaimers which benefit us. When we sign into the site all the headings are for doctors advertising. We do not make any desicions the doctors do, we do not get kickbacks. So if anyone wants to say something do what you feel comfortable with. If you would type the doctors name, I will do the rest. I was getting tired of the nonsense and some who were just looking for their next fix.Take Care.

no matter where you go there will be some nonsense.that's how people are.but for you to assume people are looking for a quick fix is wrong for you to comment on. I didnt read that on any posts
